Please pray for Geralyn. She is soon to have hip surgery and I've been helping out with some of her chores. This evening she drew a diagram to aid me in finishing a plumbing job. (Her Dad, Joseph, was a shop teacher and I think she inherited all his practical genes)!
Praying for Geralyn on my rosaries and offering up Mass today. At least she has something great to look forward to after the surgery. My father used to always ask us the question, 'What are you looking forward to now?' A great question as it encourages hope. Geralyn has something great to look forward to.
Did you know that the Spanish language has no accurate equivalent of "look forward to"? Tener ganas is the closest approximation but it doesn't quite mean the same thing.
It looks as though Geralyn's hip surgery won't take place until December. But we make a great pair: she limps because of her hip, and I still limp because my right foot has not completely healed from last October's fall. When you get old, bouncing back is elusive! Everyday closer to the Kingdom! Lord have mercy on me a sinner!
I have been thinking recently, Terry about getting older and kind of falling apart and what it means spiritually. Getting older means getting ready to fly along like little birds into Eternity. I think some birds encourage little birds out of the nest to force them to fly. I think God does the same thing with us by gently letting our health and fitness to fail little by little to lessen our kind of natural grip on this life. By forcing us to fly. So when the time for us to go we are actually content and happy to do so. I remember a Doctor telling me one time that after over 50 years in practice he had only ever met one person who refused to accept that they are going to die. I have a friend at the moment who is maybe ten years younger than me. But she happens to mention her physical troubles from time to time and Doctors and Hospital appointments. They are so many I cannot keep count of them all. One thing she mentioned was arthritis in her knee and I asked her how bad it is and she said it is as bad as a constant never ending tooth ache. This causes me really to count my blessings. Anyway prayers today for you both.
I am just seeing this news about Geralyn and I am sure it's painful for her.Alyce and I will pray for her and you. And we join you in limping forward!
