The mercy of God is beyond all our understanding. Our Lady asks us not to judge but to pray for sinners. I'm sure someone was praying for Oscar.
Absolutely. God's mercy is beyond our understanding. Like the commandant of Aushwitz--Rudolf Hess. He had been a devout Catholic as a boy but got caught up with the Nazis and went on to great wickedness. And yet-- while in prison awaiting execution he asked for a priest. He deeply repented. Received the sacraments and went to his execution a man at peace. Full of hope. There were those who were scandalized by this. But truly all of us are capable of any evil given the right circumstances and lack of grace. We should praise God for His great mercy. We all need it. Desperately.
I always loved Oscar's writings . There was the most curiously childlike , innocent, joyful quality about them. For instance his story about the Joyful Giant. https://www.wilde-online.info/the-selfish-giant.html
The poem may indicate a converted heart that had already pulled the trigger, so that if sudden death had prevented the "apparent day of liberation", Oscar still might have attained eternal glory. An unnecessary line of speculation on my part. Lord Jesus, extend Your Saving Mercy, to each member of this forum.
These Irish men deserve a lot of respect. Teaching young men the value of purity and traditional Catholic virtues. Reviled when in public. Definitely on the right of the 'political' spectrum but very committed and totally consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, even to the point that the leaders do not marry in order that they may be instruments in the hands of Mary.
What a terrible, terrible world. Effectively they have brought in euthanasia and are murdering these people.
Unfortunately, I have heard it said that if you cannot feed yourself then you will be allowed to die in Irish nursing homes and hospitals. But when this is coupled with stupor caused by drugs given it really seems like murder. I am not a doctor. Perhaps there are good medical reasons in some cases but this seems awful.
Murder of the undesired to save money! Such horror in a Catholic country which has uprooted its heritage! The arrogant face the grim reaper. May the Lord plunge them into the pool of repentance!
I can offer personal witness concerning our adult special needs daughter, who was in hospital for several months this year. If my wife and I had not been there to advocate for her, I suspect she would have missed many, if not most of her meals. And this was in one of our better hospitals. If she outlives us, I don't know what will happen her. I pray that God will take her first, although this is not an easy thing to say, but I want her to die amidst love, not indifference...or worse.
Its a beautiful sentiment. I think the Lord will protect and send angels to aid her. The care for DDA is something that has become important to me. I had joined a local agency caring for these people as a board member not long before my accident. Im so grateful since to be on that board- which helps keep our clients in the community through group homes and wonderful/caring healthcare when needed. I pray that perhaps you will find something like this near you. Peace.
Thank you. We meet a lot of very kind, generous individuals in the course of managing our lives, but the bureaucratic system that is gaining increasing power is an agency of Hell.
The introduction of abortion and the repealing of the Eighth Amendment in Ireland brought a darkness over our country and did us no favours in the long in terms of God's grace and blessing on our Nation. I remember talking to a holy priest after the referendum and he said it was a decision we will live to regret as a country. Now we are at 60,000 abortions in this country since its introduction. That in conjunction with the legalisation of same sex marriage (by popular vote) has spelt disaster for the country , not to mention the effect that mass immigration has had.
We sold our country and its little innocents for easy living. Big houses. Fancy cars. Convenience. In so doing, we pushed the protective hand of The Almighty, away. And he has left us to it. And so, in have rushed the demons. We now reap what we have sewn.
