Perhaps the number of seats vacated by the fallen angels is nearly full, and in His mercy, God has allowed humanity to slow in its reproduction as the last few of the elect grow to fill those seats. I've wondered this myself. Also the fact that no approved apparition speaks of a time beyond the 20th century. At least that I'm aware of!
I wonder if one of the great difficulties for God permitting children to born in many places at the moment might be raised in very,very bad spiritual environments and so end up in hell? They say the Traditional Catholic parents still have big families, as do the Amish, the Orthodox Jews and so on...
Here in Australia 'traditional' families are very few. meeting a like-minded partner is difficult in itself and the children are mostly lost to the Faith. Tradiotional families tend to be 'homeschoolers'' Some have big families where the eldest, if not income earners, help educate younger siblings. They have a vegetable garden, chicklens and even a cow or goat for milk. Their children are polite and mature, away from the influence of 'peer group'. They come together regularly and in 'homeschooling' camps. Even a couple I know who went to a 'Traditional SSPX' school say their friends no longer practice the Faith. Unfortionately, homes here being around $ 1 million and rents $900 a week, most couples cannot 'afford' children or even a traditional wedding. Human instinct is such they may have a child, though not practcing themselves. Most only have a dog. Indeed, I fear for my grandchildren, too many likely damned [or saved at the last moment by our prayers] Come Holy spirit - save us!

Hard to say God's plan. I am almost 50 but the Mrs. and I are still open to children if it be in His will. We have been married for over 2 years now but He has not blessed us with a child. It is a strange place to be in personally. I always thought at my age, I would be staring at the raising of kids finish line but it took me a bit of a struggle in prayer with God to be ok and trust Him if he were to give us a child. My wife and I have 3 between us and 2 in heaven but again welcome to have one between us if He wants us too. What else do I have to do in life....retire? Boring haha. I can be late 60 or 70 when a child graduates. I have come to grips with that being just fine. Now if He does give us a child, man this child will have a much different life. Summers would be traveling with us in a camper all over the US once I am retired. Our other kids may be very jealous!!

Two things have never before happened in human history on such a broad and large scale: The abandonment of faith and the rise of atheism. People have always believed in the supernatural—whether it was tribal beliefs, polytheism, or otherwise. When you look at human civilizations, you won't find a single one that didn't believe in something beyond the natural. Today, we’re witnessing a growing atheism spreading across the world, often in exchange for bodily hedonism and the pursuit of pleasure. Never before in human history has population decline been caused by low birth rates. We’ve had wars, diseases, and natural disasters that have limited population growth—sometimes killing more than 50%, like the plague did on several occasions. But people always had large families and many children. That all started to change in the mid-1960s with the introduction of contraception, abortion, urbanization, etc. Did you know that today men have over 50% less testosterone than they did about 50 years ago? In fact, 80-year-olds in the past had more testosterone than young men in their 20s do today… Interestingly, the decline in faith and the drop in demographics began at the same time as the Second Vatican Council was held and concluded—along with the rise in contraceptive use and the start of legalized abortion. And if I may add, JFK whom many consider the last truly free American president, and who was also Catholic—was assassinated around that time as well. Also, the last pre-Conciliar pope, Pius XII, reigned until the end of 1958… It’s almost as if someone flipped a switch around 1960, and things started going downhill from there. Today, we have over 100 countries that are "dying out"—with fertility rates below the 2.11 needed to maintain population—and the number is growing exponentially every year. The real collapse is happening in Latin and Central America, across the West collectively, and in Asia, and it has now begun in Africa as well. The best-performing regions are Sub-Saharan Africa and Muslim-majority countries, although even among them, we’re already seeing many with low birth rates (Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Albania, Kosovo)... with significant declines also in Egypt, Bangladesh, and others.

I have mentioned before Taylor Csldwell's 1968 novel Dialogues with the Devil where she imagines a long discussion between St Michael and Satan about the fall of civilizations. She sets up the idea of other planets who God created as He created earth and how they were all put to the test and how they fell. One such planet gave into the satanic suggestion that they could play God by limiting their births. In the end they were destroyed by God's laws written in nature. The people simply lost fertility altogether. P. D. James wrote a dystopia novel imagining the same thing.
