The news shouldn't have shocked me, it is clear this war will keep building. But this makes me so angry that my country is going into war yet again, which will likely result in mass destruction including nuclear weapons. I keep fearing that the entirety of the US will be firebombed into oblivion.
Current events remind me an awful lot of the Prophet Jeremiah in the Bible. King Nebucahnezzar had conquered huge tracts of the region, including Israel who had to pay taxes to him. The King of Israel madly wanted to stop paying their dues and Jeremiah warned them that there would be a great war if they did this. False prophets said everything would be fine.
