I am skeptical of this. Russia has been continuing to advance westward and the incursion into Russia by Ukraine is degrading. My understanding is that the Netherlands has given the green light for Ukraine to use long range missiles, which wouldn't be necessary if Russia was backing down.

Francis really wants to go to Russia, so he condemns - rightly, in my opinion - the ban of the Russian Orthodox in Ukraine, but has no say in the eradication of Catholicism in the Ukrainian areas occupied by Russian Putinist invaders. The U.S. government doesn't give a monkeys about it's own people - let alone the people of Ukraine. Just as they didn't care a jot for the people of Kuwait; Libya; Syria etc etc etc.

I think many people do not condemn Russia because they realise the plan all along; was to militarise Ukraine and have American [government] bases there - in preparedness for a war with Russia one day.

Things are definitely shifting around politically in Israel right now. I saw a couple of tweets suggesting that Trump told Netanyahu to end this war because it is bad publicity, or something like that. Then a couple days after Netanyahu got rid of the defense minister, which led to protests. As well, Hamas called for an end to the war suddenly. I guess the former Israeli secretary of defense Gallant was hawkish, so clearly Netanyahu is changing direction. I imagine that Trump has been making "art of the deal" offers as you mentioned, and likely before he took office. Everyone appears to be on board.
