No in the happy days back when we didn't have a Pope of Mercy and Accompaniment there was no such thing as cancelled priests

They didn't even cancel the child abusers

I will be praying for you as you make the climb. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I was 56 whenI did it. Some of the rocks are like glass. Godspeed.

Nancy and Patrick. They have a beautiful conversion story. Nancy often translated for Fr. Yoso. I saw the castle the first time I went and they both gave a talk. Often seminarians discerning used to stay there. If you get to visit it and meet them it’s a great experience. Unsure they are still open to public.

Thank you. It was 34c and I saw a heavily pregnant woman her husband and a two year old child just starting up it. The maddest thing I ever saw .

I talked to a woman from Eritrea in Africa who was really struggling, she said it was too hot.

But I am quite proud of having made it. I hear there are many accidents, some of them serious

Yes it was open to the public when I was in Medjugorje last September. Last year Maria went there for her apparition on 25th of the month and the public congregated there. That's not happening now. A taxi driver told me, when I was there a month ago. That the locals were unhappy about it and it had been discontinued.
I climbed both mountains when I was there. I suffer from heart palpitations and severe arthritis in my knee. When I arrived in Medjugorje I had to get a taxi everywhere as I could barely walk to the church. Through a series of seemingly unconnected events I was directed to a priest who prayed over me. I climbed Apparition Hill the following day and Cross Mountain the following day. I haven't looked back since. I'm 75 this year.

I remember this so well. I collected a stone for each station. I still have them.

Padraig, your climbing of Cross mountain and seeing the stations along the way brought back great memories for me. It was moving to see people with various handicaps struggling to climb but always having support from others. It made. Me think this is our journey/ we all have to climb with our “handicaps” and God sends us “angels” to help. The group we went with did the Marian stations of the cross - really moving. (You can get a copy at the Caritas place). They suggested at beginning you pray and pick up a stone ( sone picked up big one lol) and reflect that this is the sin or part of your history that ways you down , that causes you to be weary or falling. And reflect at each station with this in mind. And then finally at the top at tge Cross leave that stone with Jesus b/c he crucified it for you! It seats with me.

    Perhaps you’ll climb again :)

Anyhow, thanks for your pictures and your posts- they are really wonderful. Peace

I remember being astonished at how easily I climbed. No exhaustion at all. Definite grace.

Wow, that is truly a steep, rugged climb. I can't even imagine going down that mountain in dark. It's no wonder I see people with walking sticks.

I don't think they would allow it in some countries; Health and Safety. But I suppose it is a matter of Faith.

But I think small children in extreme heat or at night is imprudent. Especially with small babies. But I supose this is a very different country and culture, their men all look like they are ready to go into battle.

    A tough people.

What do I think of Medugorje so far? Well I have to hold my hands up and say I am totally biased. I believed in it right from the beginning and never had a seconds doubt.

But for me this is just a little bit of heaven come early. My dream ship. True there have been a few rough spots, it's not always easy but that only adds to the joy.

For as long as I can remember I could always see things from the other side. But here the Gift works ten times better. The veil between heaven Earth and I constantly see the supernatural. I was sharing a few stories of this with the guests here and it was only be their amazement I knew how out of the ordinary this is. To me it like using your eyes or ears, perfectly normal. It's a bit intense and you see the evil as well as the good, but I do love spiritual fireworks!

My biggest takeaway is the goodness and Faith of our Catholic Family.

ITs really amazing the number of priests and nuns here at the moment, there must be literally hundreds of them, they are everywhere. Many of them are with their families, having a great time.

One thing they do here which is very, very wrong is to work on Sundays. I can understand a certain amount of necessary work but the shops at the very least should be closed and the priests telling them this. But clearly they are not.

It springs I believe from an inordinate love of money.

I don't mind so much that they work as that the priests do not warn them against this.

This would be my main concern.

Why do they not warn them?

I did hear some say that... and the group we went with last year mentioned this. I guess I look at it as a bit of it takes two to tango.... yes shops should not open and priests should tell them to stay closed. But, if people did not shop and spend the money and if priests also told the people to avoid this as it actually is the reason why shops open, maybe that would solve it all. But as you say.... money drives all of this.
