I think the outcome is very hopeful.

There has been pretty much a liberal juggernaut in Ireland the past decade or more with various referenda, legislation etc. being pushed through. It's nice to see the tables turn a little.

Thank God for this positive result in the Referendum. I believe in the fullness of time the foolishness of modern thinking will be realised.
The tried and tested human family unit is ; Mother, Father and children. It works. It's the logical framework for a well rounded environment for children.
Novel ideas that try out alternative structures are less than ideal and produce poorer foundations. Our Catholic values are based on the truth. The truth wins.
I think 'woke' ideas will be ultimately revealed as daft and sneakily malevolent.
Our Lady will crush that serpents head.
    Meanwhile I'll keep praying.
God bless you all in this forum.

It's relieving to get a little shelter from the storm. Only one party, Aontu, campaigned against the proposed change in the Constitution. All the other parties shared in the 'progressive' consensus. Maybe, some of these parties will learn the lessons, but I would not be too hopeful. Let us pray for a growth in the Aontu vote.

I agree. I will only vote for a pro life party. The rest are in Satan's pocket. Progressive to me means warped. When being politely accepting of people of 'unnatural urges' became their promotion as a normality, we lost our way.

The Irish government has been defeated in the twin referendums on changing the country's constitution, prime minister Leo Varadkar has conceded.
Mr Varadkar, who said he wanted to remove "very old-fashioned language" in his country's constitution, said it was clear the amendments were "defeated comprehensively on a respectable turnout".

"It was our responsibility to convince the majority of people to vote 'yes' and we clearly failed to do so," he said.
Earlier, transport minister Eamon Ryan said the government "didn't convince the public of the argument for a 'yes, yes' vote".
Mr Ryan said: "You have to respect the voice of the people. It's a complex issue, both are complex.
"I would have preferred a 'yes, yes' (but) I don't accept that our campaign did go wrong."

Sinn Fein, or at least its leader, Mary Lou McDonald, has learned absolutely nothing from this, believing that this issue has to be rerun in order to remove 'sexist' language from the Constitution. The electorate has shown that it is becoming completely fed up with all this nonsense that seeks to render everything the same and prefers Reality. The reality is that the female sex does most of the caring, whether of children, the disabled or the elderly, and is therefore more likely to be confined to the home. And they need to be acknowledged and supported. This is the natural order of things, no matter what the harpies and furies might scream. It is the natural and common experience of by far the greater number of people and the results echo this.

From the sound it it they got very badly beaten. I don't think they'll have another referendum in a hurry.
People are angry. They've had enough.

We've probably delayed their plans to 'humanely' and 'compassionately' euthanise those who are cared for. The New York Times and the Guardian don't seem to approve.

God bless Donegal with over 80% voting against the amendment.

And they were the only Irish county that rejected abortion.

Wonderful! My father used to sing 'Shall I N'er See You More, Gentle Mother'.

I have a feeling they won't take No for an answer. They'll be back telling us to vote again with modified questions. Only this time they will have legislation ready and waiting. Legislation which can be changed in the future of course to suit their needs. But for the time being this is a great victory for our people in Ireland. Congratulations to all who helped bring it about - especially Maria Steen!

Well it gave them a good solid kick to their sensitive parts, Praise God!:)

A great victory in all the depraved wickedness that is going on.

Ireland has not gone down the drain yet!
