I have read about cooking on rooftops and outdoors on tables. I just never realized it was actually done!
My trip in 1988 was similar. It was still a very rural simple place. We stayed with a family. Wonderful food. Home made schnapps.
It truly was a blessed place and time. Also the first time I experienced stan in the flesh so to speak!

As near as! I was out walking the road late one night and saw a black figure walking the same direction some steps ahead of me. At first I thought it was my shadow but then realised there was no moon. I shone my torch on it but the light went straight through it. It remained a while and then disappeared. To say I was scared would be a serious understatement!!
Talking to people here they feel this is a very very serious message because of the word modernism. It takes it to a different level.
Not to mention she had climb back up there on the branches to get the cooked potatoes at the end of the day. I feel pretty lazy in comparison.
This is definitely a very different message than we've had in a while... Is there a lessening in the fervor of the villagers lately?
This is not only addressed to the villagers but to all of us who believe that Our Lady appeared there, including me. I used to say the whole Rosary daily and fast twice a week but not for some time and guess that I am not alone.
Medjugorge was supercharged with spiritual atmosphere when I was there. Good and bad. I never had such an encounter as you had thank goodness but one night in the middle of the night dogs began to howl. Must have been 100's of them. It woke me up. It was blood curdling and eerie. I clutched my Rosary very close.
When I was there, what sounded like dozens of cats were fighting and yowling in the middle of the night...and during Mirjana's apparition, a possessed woman began screaming. But there was always so much peace even in the midst of such strange manifestations. And both times I went, someone would kind of "adopt" me, showing up at just the right moments...like when I got lost, she'd come out of nowhere and lead me back to the hotel, or when it was my turn to go into the confessional and I didn't know what to do with my son, she turned up right at that moment and offered to watch him for me. Oh! And we got stuck in the elevator in Miryana's house! It literally stopped halfway between floors and we had to yell out of the crack in the door for someone to help us... but what would have been a terrifying experience anywhere else was not a big deal there. Just a continual feeling of "Mary's got this."

Thank you for finding these messages. I knew it wasn’t the first time MODERNISM was mentioned but wasn’t sure how many times. Turns out we’ve been warned repeatedly.
I had a few dark experiences there over the years. One night, in my spirit I saw a huge bull come into my bedroom. I could see him standing beside my bed and bellowing, with menacing eyes looking down on me. Another day when walking to Fr. Slavko's grave, a snake slithered across my path ( it was the only time I ever saw one in over 30 years of pilgrimage) When I arrived at the grave a priest in a grey habit was just setting up to say some prayers. He told me his Order had sent him to pray against curses which were regularly prayed over the grave. While he was praying, a dog appeared out of nowhere and tried to distract him by pulling at the tassels on his habit. I shooed it and it ran off but returned soon again and tried a repeat. Witches etc will often use animals as cameras to see through their eyes what is going on and also use them as a distraction as happened here.
