It's all very, very sad. But a big Sign of the Times. I don't think in all of history I've ever heard of a Carmelite community doing such a thing. I was a little shocked to hear Archbishop Vigano encouraging them.
Obedience is a big, big thing for Catholics but most most especially in the Spiritual Life. If we had to wait until we all got good and Holy Superiors before we were obedient the Church would cease to exist.
The thing is if we give up obedience to our Bishop, were do we go from there? It's rather like deciding to leave a little road at twilight and wandering in a bog. With the little road , how awful it might appear we are safe. But in the bog? In the bog we are lost and in great danger.
Bishop Olsen hS the authority to censure this nun. Adding rebellion to other wrong doing (alledged?) Is not good.
People like Bishop Strickland, Cardinal Mueller and Cardinal Burke are such great examples of being obedient in difficult circumstances. I think Cardinal Burke in particular. He was been terribly treated but I can't recall a single word out of place from him. An exquisite charity really. It was the same with Padre Pio really.
The only thing is our obedience cannot lead us to a place we're we aquiese to evil. At that point there has to be a parting of the ways. If for instance as looks increasingly likely the Vatican comes out and says Sodomy is fine and blesses it then no Catholic can in good conscience go along with it. We would have to give our heads a big shake and take a cool hard look at things. As St Paul tells us good cannot be yoked with evil But as Jesus said. Sufficient unto the day are the worries thereof Time I suppose to cross that bridge when we come to it. Although this bridge seems to be coming along real quick
But of course the Good Lord knows all this and perhaps this is why we are hearing of a Sign and events in October . The only thing is it may be the traw that breaks the camels back as far as the Just Anger of God is concerned.
Top Cardinal Warns of Synodality as ‘Pandora’s Box’ https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/top-cardinal-warns-of-synodality-a-pandoras-box
Cardinal Burke also lamented the use of populist rhetoric regarding the Church that defines this papacy - Over the past few years, certain words, for example, “pastoral,” “mercy,” “listening,” “discernment,” “accompaniment,” and “integration” have been applied to the Church in a kind of magical way, that is, without clear definition but as the slogans of an ideology replacing what is irreplaceable for us: the constant doctrine and discipline of the Church. Some of the words, like “pastoral,” “mercy,” “listening,” and “discernment” have a place in the doctrinal and disciplinary tradition of the Church, but they are now being used with a new meaning and without reference to the Tradition. For instance, pastoral care is now regularly contrasted with concern for the doctrine, which must be its foundation. The concern for doctrine and discipline is characterized as pharisaical, as wishing to respond coldly or even violently to the faithful who find themselves in an irregular situation morally and canonically. In this errant view, mercy is opposed to justice, listening is opposed to teaching, and discernment is opposed to judgment. Other words are secular in origin, for example, “accompaniment” and “integration,” and are used without grounding them in the truth of the faith or in the objective reality of our life in the Church. For instance, integration is divorced from communion which is the only foundation of participation in the life of Christ in the Church. These terms are frequently used in a worldly or political sense, guided by a view of nature and reality which is constantly changing. The perspective of eternal life is eclipsed in favor of a kind of popular view of the Church in which all should feel “at home,” even if their daily living is an open contradiction to the truth and love of Christ. In any case, the use of any of these terms must be firmly grounded in the truth, together with its traditional expression of our incorporation into Christ’s Mystical Body by one faith, one sacramental life, and one discipline or governance. Cardinal Burke The use of the word accompaniment is an interesting one in a pastoral sense - For the likes of Fr Trendy James Martin the term accompanying means accepting sinful lifestyles without challenge in other words full acceptance rather than correction, Go and sin no more' does not exist in their vocabulary. Many of the modernists dont believe in the reality of sin, for them it is an outdated concept. Science, psychology and pseudo science supercede tradition. Some clergy are so woke they would accompany the devil to hell.
One great sign of the times is that a lot of the stuff that the Holy Father comes out with is like gibberish and impossible to understand. It is as if it were some Foreign Language that only they themselves can understand. It is impossible for anyone besides themselves to either agree with or disagree with as we have no idea what on Earth they mean. The words they use are grandiose and sound so wise and wonderful but they leave everyone scratching their heads wondering what on Earth they mean. But of course no one can come right out and challenge all this gibberish for fear of looking stupid. A good example of such gibberish is the word, 'Accompaniment'. A brand new word just minted they throw about like candy. I still haven't the vaguest clue what it actually means.
How the demons down in hell must be laughing at us for being taken in by this total nonsense. But it is not layfolk who are taken in by it. They tend to lead busy lives and just shrug their shoulders and move on. No it is the Clergy , who out of fear' of human respect will not admit publically they are baffled by it all. Whilst in private there is constant head scratching and raised eye brows.
I wish I never heard the word, accompaniment. Everytime they say it I have visions of souls falling into Hell.
in the "Spirit of Vatican II" , liberal cardinals like using this phrase though we don't know what is it referring to....
Its an "excuse" word. If you are "accompanying " someone in serious sin you don't have to admonish. You are being so kind and giving.
https://www.lifesitenews.com/analys...ty/?utm_source=featured_news&utm_campaign=usa BREAKING: Pope Francis appears to reject the idea that homosexuals are called to chastity The Pope's comments to Portuguese Jesuits echoed previous such occasions, as he refused to pronounce Catholic doctrine on clear, moral questions. LISBON, Portugal (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Francis has again indicated an openness to homosexual activity, as he has refused to affirm the Catholic teaching on chastity and celibacy for homosexuals. Full details of the pontiff’s recent conversation with Portuguese Jesuits were released August 28. They include Pope Francis’s thoughts on homosexuality, condemnation of a “reactionary” attitude amongst American Catholics, criticism of “indietrists” and “clericalism,” and praise of the Synod on Synodality, As part of his customary activities while on foreign trips, Pope Francis met with Jesuits from the Portuguese province while in Lisbon for World Youth Day at the start of August. The full transcript has been released by Jesuit-run La Civilta Cattolica in Italian, English and Spanish. Is homosexual activity always wrong? As often is the case in such meetings, Pope Francis fielded questions on topics pertaining to Catholic morality and doctrine, refusing on this occasion to issue a clear answer on the topic of homosexuality. One Jesuit referenced his own work with university students, who are “very committed to the Church, to the center, very friendly with the Jesuits, and who identify as homosexuals.” The priest stated that such students “feel that they are an active part of the Church, but they often do not see in doctrine their way of living affectivity, and they do not see the call to chastity as a personal call to celibacy, but rather as an imposition.” He queried whether the practice of homosexual activity in this instance would be wrong: Since they are virtuous in other areas of their lives, and know the doctrine, can we say that they are all in error, because they do not feel, in conscience, that their relationships are sinful? And how can we act pastorally so that these people feel, in their way of life, called by God to a healthy affective life that produces fruit? Should we recognize that their relationships can open up and give seeds of true Christian love, such as the good they can accomplish, the response they can give to the Lord? Pope Francis refused to directly answer that such activity would be sinful, instead stating that “I believe there is no discussion about the call being addressed to everyone. Jesus is very clear about this: everyone.” “In other words, the door is open to everyone, everyone has their own space in the Church,” he continued. “How will each person live it out? We help people live so that they can occupy that place with maturity, and this applies to all kinds of people.” The Argentinian pontiff criticized what he referred to as examining the “sins below the waist,” or “sin of the flesh” with a “magnifying glass.” Instead, he appeared to downplay the universal call to practice chastity, arguing that “the most appropriate pastoral attitude for each person must be applied.” We must not be superficial and naive, forcing people into things and behaviors for which they are not yet mature, or are not capable. It takes a lot of sensitivity and creativity to accompany people spiritually and pastorally. But everyone, everyone, everyone is called to live in the Church: never forget that. The Pope also referenced his own regular meetings with so-called transgender individuals at his weekly audiences in the Vatican, revealing that he is in regular email contact with them. “I realized that these people feel rejected, and it is really hard,” he stated.
