I think the mark of the beast is a symbol that nullifies the profession of faith of baptism and the sign of the cross; i think it will be the number 999 as the number 9 is considered sacred to the ecumenical religion baha'i faith and the mark of the beast would be the nine pointed star (which symbolizes the 9 world religions as ways of salvation) as opposed to cross (which we use as a profession of faith in the only savior).

the Baha'i faith have a great veneration for the number 9 even when a follower of the religion dies it is recommended to carve the nine-pointed star on the tombstone (as we Christians do with the cross) however the holy book of the Baha'i faith seems to point out that at some point (perhaps in the great tribulation) the number 9 will be inverted and become a 6 in Baha'i symbology which could explain the meaning of 666 being the number of the beast.

I find the mark of the beast confusing. According to Biblical scholars there has been many marks of beasts in salvation history.
