My sister just told me yesterday that she just went to the used dvd store that we've gone to for years and there's now a prominent section full of witchcraft and satanic items. Guess we won't be returning there ever again.

I am not surprised. Its very profitable. Lot of demand. God have mercy! Poor poor souls who seek this out. They have NO IDEA what they are messing with.

    Exactly.
On the other hand, the relics of St Bernadette are traveling around the US. I just happened to catch the rosary on Ewtn at 9 am this morning and the relics were there, being venerated. They included the Saint’s meditations in the joyful mysteries . Next best thing to being there. I doubt if I will be able to venerate the relics in Baltimore. My son will be out of town and I can’t travel to that city alone. Check out the schedule online.

Yes, but for blessing yourself ONLY!!! You do not have authority to bless the store or its contents. Demons know that and will try to extract retribution from you if you try to do so.

I recall reading about a spiritual warfare group who would go around holding deliverance sessions and the like. The city where they lived had a large penitentiary and they always felt the spiritual oppression when they drove past it. They got it in their heads to start doing deliverance prayers for the penitentiary to drive away the demons.

They didn't have to wait long to see results. Within a year, two of the couples had divorced and several others had come down with debilitating illnesses that baffled their doctors. What they had attempted to accomplish amounted to attempting to perform an exorcism on the area. Demons are legalistic. If you do not have authority over the person or place they know it and will strike back.

Exactly! As Fr Ripperger says "stay in your lane". The issue of authority is huge.

Yes, big demand unfortunately. :( We have several of those shops in the Cape. It's always shocking to walk into a place thinking it's just a little gift shop and you find yourself surrounded with occult objects.

This Tucker interview is worth watching to understand what young people today are exposed to. For prayer warriors and others out there helping on the battle field.

…I’m a bit confused, having just glanced over the last few posts. I guess I’m confused over these “authority” comments. So one has to have authority over a person or place to pray against evil? I’m not entirely sure what that means, and I think I need a little clarification here, in it just doesn’t make sense to me. For example, if people tried to pray away evil at a penitentiary , and then apparently succumbed to divorces or physical illness, that seems to suggest that evil is more powerful than God, which I don’t think any one of us believes.
So, perhaps a bit of clarification on the above few posts, by “anyone”, might help me understand this, better……if I’m able.

Bishops have authority to cast out demons, which is derived from Christ's authority. Authority here means that demons have to obey.
Ordinary people can of course ask God for protection against evil, but they can't directly ask demons to leave in the name of Christ.

Also, some of the prayers against evil fall in the category of sacramentals, and can only be done by a bishop or authorized priest. For example, ordinary people should NEVER use the prayers directed at the expulsion of demons, not only because these prayers are reserved to bishops to act in the person of Christ, but also to protect them from possible spiritual harm.

Good post. However, Fr. Ripperger has published a little book called Deliverance Prayers for the Laity. I use it often. It is tailored to lay people. It is available on Amazon, is a paperback. and costs next to nothing.
    I highly recommend it.
Mark, I do indeed share some of your confusion. But I am just trying to take it slowly and learn and stay humble.

  14. make use of the prayer against retaliation
    Prayer Against Retaliation
Lord Jesus Christ, in your love and mercy, pour Your Precious Blood over us so that no demon or disembodied spirit may retaliate against us. Mary, surround us with your mantle, blocking any retaliating spirits from having any authority over us. St. Michael, surround us with your shield, so that no evil spirit may take revenge on us. Queen of Heaven and St. Michael, send down the legions of angels under your command to fight off any spirits that would seek to harm us. All you saints of heaven, impede any retaliating spirit from influencing us. Lord, You are the Just Judge, the avenger of the wicked, the Advocate of the Just, we beg in Your mercy, that all we ask of Mary, the angels and the saints of heaven be also granted to all our loved ones, all of our possessions, those who pray for us and their loved ones, that for Your Glory’s sake, we may enjoy Your perfect protection. Amen.

I think deprecatory prayer....Jesus please deliver (name) and cover him in your Precious Blood is safe and efficacious and a good thing to do. Imprecatory prayer where you address the evil directly is dangerous if you do not have authority over that person. Jesse Romero and Dr Dan Schneider go into this in some depth on their Wednesday broadcasts of Jesus 911.
