I have a relative too that is following these MDM messages, so I have had to read some of them to be able to discuss it with him. They are very, very specific with things these days. And I have suggested that he not follow them as truth, but instead to watch if things prophetic in them don't happen, then it is proof they are false. He was worried about being deceived also, but did not want to ignore them if they weren't false (and I showed him the site where some have pointed out why they should be considered false, and he was not convinced by it). I would hope he would follow what ever the church said, but the church hasn't said anything. So he went back to day one, and read every message to try to find things that were defintely proof of their falsehood, and in his opinion, he didn't find anything (even though he admits the one about the world only having "a few months to prepare for the Warning" seemed potentially problematic since it was over a year ago. He thinks it may be interpretation and could mean relatively "few months" in God's time, as opposed to "a few months", which has a common secular understanding). So he agrees now that the current messages contain such fantastical prophecies, that it should be easy to discern very soon if they are false. However, to be thorough, we have to understand exactly what some of those prophecies are so we can make the proper argument. For example, any MDM believers would have a problem with what you just said, and would say it was innacurate: I read those prophecies, and they don't say either of those things, but they say something close to it, that should still aid in discerning falsehood if proven untrue in the coming days. Here they are: There is to be a particular insult, which will be inflicted upon My Holy Name, in an effort to desecrate Me, during Holy Week. This wicked gesture, during Holy Week, will be seen by those who keep their eyes open and this will be one of the signs by which you will know that the imposter, who sits on the throne in My Church on earth, does not come from Me. My dearly beloved daughter, by the time Good Friday arrives many souls will begin to realize that My Warning to humanity is upon the world. No sooner will the abomination be witnessed than the Truth of these Messages will be truly understood. Gather your people together, unite in prayer, for a dark cloud will cover the earth. The punishments will be meted upon humanity as it plunges into an abyss of indifference and apathy, to the Word of God. So, no it doesn't say the inaugural mass was to have a desecration of the Blessed Sacrament, and it doesn't say the Warning will occur by Good Friday. But it says two things that are still pretty specific, and should be easy to discern, though both are a little subtle ("....many souls will begin to realize that My Warning is upon the world" leaves Warning date open, but suggests apparent signs of its imminence, I suppose, by Good Friday) . I just point this out because I have not been successful in convincing him not to follow, and therefore, I can't dissuade him by using false arguments or incorrect assessments of the prophecies. I have to argue using the exact prophecies. I suspect there may be many others that have delved as deeply as him out there, and are still in the same boat.
When I was first converted (with an apparition of Jesus, and daily locutions following) I was shown Carmel and the apparitions at Garabandal. I was NEVER told to make public my locutions, and because all of them only taught me Church doctrine, there was nothing new to announce. I confessed these to my Provincial Priest of Carmel, and he told me I could tell people about my experience, as nothing was against Church teaching, and I could follow Jesus's wishes for me given in locutions, AS LONG AS THEY WERE OBEDIENT to Church doctrine, and the Rule of my Carmelite Order. He very much stressed that these mystical gifts were very dangerous, and only staying in a state of grace, and obiding by the most holy Church, would keep me safe from error and demonic influence. He is a very wise priest, and all these years I have tried to obey, because I am afraid to be away from Jesus or displease Him in any way, or teach anything contrary to the faith. I am only mentioning this because I too, am awaiting the huge happenings of God, and hopefully in my lifetime, and I too have gotten caught up in other's messages. Its easy for me to do because I've had them and I believe others do too. But I have also seen and felt demons. They were in our house and ripped my husband right away from me and from God. They are EVIL and sneaky, and I am so thankful for the good priest who I confessed to right in the beginning. Please everyone, don't get too caught up in anybody's messages. I know Garabandal is ok, because during the time it happened all were obedient to the Church among other things. Also either the messages come true or they don't, and no one is trying to direct you anywhere but to the Church. MDM said in one message in 2011 that the Warning was WEEKS away, and then said that WEEKs meant less than a year. Also there were other prophecy that did not come true as the 3 assasinations of world leaders and so on. Perhaps Maria is truly believing it IS Jesus she is hearing from, but no message should ever be published without Church approval, EVER, so she is already on her own with her "spirits" she is hearing. If you read your Bibles very much and thoroughly as you should, the Anti Christ is never elected as a Pope. He takes over by a killing army and PLANTS himself in the holy place proudly.
Well, there is something even more specific. This woman said that the actual Pope is the false prophet and that BXVI is the real Pope because it can only be one Pope at the same time. BXVI retirement is perfectly legal and if Franciscus, canonically and legally elected by the Catholic Church, is not the false prophet, then that was it with MDM.
Thanks for helping and for the view into your mystical experiences. It is so challenging to discern these things. He is a definite believer in Garabandal, and certainly wants to remain in the protection of the Church and the sacraments, but it really does get specific when we have these discussions. For example, you mention that scripture is clear about the Anti-Christ and how he manifests, and I think he would agree. However, he would say the MDM messages talk about the False Prophet seated in the chair (not the Anti-Christ), and he has argued that the scripture in which Jesus says "...you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it" does not insure that the gates of hades would not usurp the "papacy", but it insures the gates of hades would not prevail against the "church". Saying that the pronoun "it" in that sentence is "the church". And he believes that the remnant, that is the Body of Christ as it goes through its passion, could exisit even if a false prophet stole the seat. He expects that Satan would desire to do exactly that type of attack. Kind of the culmination of the communist/masonic infiltration. I tried to search the CCC, but could not find interpretation of that scripture in that regard.
You are right. I have mentioned that Pope Benedict had said a pope can retire. He is on the fence on this, because of the tradition we have known in our lifetimes. Even some news anchors get tripped up too. I was watching one network after the conclave, and they were talking about the gravity of being a cardinal and of being the one elected pope, and they said "...that means you are now the pope until your death..." They didn't even catch themselves in the context of what had just happened, because it is all we have known for centuries, until now.
Satan works in intelligent ways, and sidetracks, and lies, and tells half truths, and tries to scare us. His whole point to get us away from the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Confession, obedience, and the Holy Catholic Church. He has been trying to do this for centuries. MDM's messages don't really SAY anything for sure, but they IMPLY alot. That's how the slimey one can sneak around things. He DOESN'T know the date of the Warning, or of the Miracle, or of the Second Coming. You can tell by his temptation of Jesus in the dessert that he (satan) is even then trying to figure just WHO Jesus really is, and if He is the Messiah or not. Satan is also in the dark about these things. But he has a goal, and I mentioned it above. Pulling Catholics away from the sacraments is his goal, because he knows once they leave the bossom of the Church they are on their own, and satan loves to get people alone. So run to the Church, obey the Commandments, pray for our Priests and Cardinals and our Pope, and trust God from there.
Speaking of believing one is speaking to Jesus in these mystical experiences, I just want to mention that after mine, where Jesus told me to "Love thy husband as I have loved you" (His exact words) Many people told me that Jesus would NEVER say something like this! That Jesus wants us to be happy, and that I should "move on" and get a new man. MANY of these people were very devout Christians of Protestant churches, and sadly many were practicing Catholics, and divorced, and they don't believe in the sacrament of marriage. So who do I believe?? HOLY MOTHER CHURCH and thank you Lord! for giving her to us to obey. You saved my soul.
The church comes first ,and receiving the holy eucharist ,the most important thing in a roman catholic persons life , where would we be without our lords shepherds ,the priests , wed be lost , god bless you carmel .

You are right, accuracy is necessary to argue the point with people who are deceived by these messages. Even though the messages are becoming quite specific they still cleverly leave a little wiggle room for interpretation. It's not going to be easy convincing some people. I wonder if they could be persuaded to take a complete break from reading them for a week or two would that help. A little challenge for the final week of Lent perhaps? The addiction seems to be in seeing what the latest message is, being 'in the know' about what's going to happen. There is a need to constantly check to see what the latest message is. I've tried comparing the tone of MDM's messages with those coming from Medjugorje (R goes to Medjugorje and believes in it). This doesn't work. We can keep trying and keep praying!
Hi Krizevac, I stopped reading MDM about Aug 2012. I found her messages were making me feel indifferently towards our Priests. This is NOT a good thing. Then one day, I decided to go through all the messages with a note book. It didn't take long before I started seeing prophecy mistakes. One mistake, and I run. Because I know God the father, Jesus or Mary NEVER get prophecy wrong, and they certainly don't lie. Since I have stopped reading these messages and have just stuck with 'church approved' stuff, I feel so much better. I use to be confused about so much, but I don't anymore. Which proves how the truth will set you free and gives you peace. If anyone needs to see the prophecies that didn't come true with MDM. I can post what I noted until August. I don't know what has been said since then as I don't want to read them as lies only poison your mind.
Mary Ann, don't you think it is strange that the alleged Virgin has given such an enormous task to Father Petar when it is proven he is disobedient to the church? I just can't see The Holy Mother would let this happen.
Satan hates souls most of all. He is the King of lies. He does it in a way to draw us in and take us away from the truth. He is very clever. Maybe Satan's whole point is to do what ever it takes so we don't get to Heaven, so he will do and say ANYTHING to throw us off guard. He wants us in Hell. No wonder Jesus warns us to stay on our guard.
Jane, In reference to your question to me, I do not think Father Petar was/is aware of the CDF notification on Vassula Ryden's writings. It just takes a little digging to read how they speak with authority about staying away from True Life in God, but did Father Petar have the time or inclination to do that? Probably not. He probably gives Mrs. Ryden the benefit of the doubt. It is a pity because the Vatican Commission is still studying Medjugorje and it seems to be a critical time in their process of discernment. I hope that Medjugorje is accepted...I have never been there, but Our Lady's messages help me a great deal...I'm glad she is appearing daily on earth...I would never have thought of her as so Motherly without the Medjugorje messages. I would probably just think about Mary as Mary and not really much more. I am going to try to give up most of my screen time for Holy Week and so I wish all forum members a very Blessed and Holy Easter. Padraig, thanks for the forum and for promoting my status to messenger.
I would love to take credit Mary Ann, but the computer kicks you up automatically. It just adds up the number of messages you post.
I don't like reading them either. They really do disturb your peace after a while. That in itself should be a good enough radar for anyone. I'm not sure if a list of prophecies that didn't come true will persuade R or others but I think it's possible the cumulative effect might be enough to cause some hesitation, some doubt, at least. I think it's worth a try and I 'd be grateful if you would post it.
