While I was meditating a few hours ago, I began to notice a pattern in how my family acts, I think I'm beginning to spot a certain generational spirit in my family; I haven't yet put my finger on what sin or vice this spirit is of yet. I'm going to watch Fr. Chad Rippergers videos on generational spirits, in the meantime can someone please provide me with any prayers and advice on how to combat him?
I’ve watched the 3 part series on YouTube and it was awesome. He covers so much information in them that I’d recommend you watch the videos first before you take any action.
I'll pray, but don't have any advice -- the concept of a generational spirit is something I haven't thought of (and only peripherally) in a long time.
Generational Healing... What Fr. Cerulli suggests we can pray on our own by writing down the names of our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, aunts and sins you may know of for each or bad behaviours. Then pray over them and ask God to forgive them these sins and that you and your children, grandchildren be freed from them and to heal the family tree. If you know of specific sins for each individual ancestor write beside their name - try to remember. If you can go to Mass pray the prayer before the Mass, light a candle and offer the Mass for this specific intention. If you can't, then still light a candle, pray and offer the Live streamed-Mass. You may want to repeat this as a novena for 9 days (thats merely my suggestion though). This works. I've done it for a curse that was wished on someone a couple of generations back that seemed to continue to the next 2 generations into present day. The result from praying was almost instant. Here is a prayer that you could say: Dear God and Father, I cannot break family curses by myself. I need your help. Please hear my heart. Family curses and sins have been haunting and following my ancestors in the past have been inherited by me and now my children and grandchdren. In Jesus's name I ask you to forgive all the sins committed by my ancestors. Sins of which are: unforgiveness, lying, bitterness, fear, worry, judgment, resentment, pride, rejection, envy, jealousy, anger, abuse, covetousness, unbelief in God, unbelief in the Blessed Virgin Mary, unbelief in Jesus, the taking the Lord's name in vain, rebellion, drunkenness, manipulation, greed, lust, idolatry, homesexual acts, fornication, adultery, hatred, selfishness, molestation, incest, revenge, curses, sorcery, witchcraft, addictions, slander, deceit, theft, and those who may have committed these sins are..(insert names. Try to go back as far as you can..maybe research names) I ask you to let these sins and curses cease to exist in my life and in the lives of my children (insert names)........and grandchildren...(insert names).... I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended and beg you to please destroy and root out these sins and curses in me and in my family and in my children and in my grandchildren so that they will not be passed on to any other person. Free us today Lord God of all of these sins and curses. You said in your word "ask and you shall receive and it will be given onto you". I am asking you Lord God to grant me freedom from all ancestral sins and curses committed against you by me and my ancestors. Free us from all of the evil spirits that are within us and cast them into hell. Hear my heart Lord and grant me this request today. Wash away all the iniquities of my ancestors from my generation and generations to come in Jesus name. I Thank you my Lord and my God Amen
I've suspected this, and am now 90%, though I could be wrong, that the generational spirit in my family may be insensitivity, I see it almost every single member of my family, including myself, in fact I think even my anger, scrupulosity and fear are linked to it in someways. I may be wrong, but I am now seeing a lot of things I haven't noticed before. I have watched the first two parts now, I will watch part 3 later this evening if I have time. Thanks, I don't know my family history that well, although I have heard of some noteworthy things here and there. The things I have in mind right now come mostly from my grandparents, my dad and paternal grandparents lived through the Allende regime in Chile, and that's actually why my dad moved here to Canada, his family was fleeing socialism in Chile. My maternal grandparents had a divorce and thus, that would obviously open the door to a whole host of evils. Also, I highly suspect that there is something wrong with my current hometown, maybe even my whole region but especially my hometown; I can't help but suspect that there is something seriously wrong with it, and it may be a generational spirit, I had heard some troubling stories about it's past. (and again, the past of my region as a whole.
I've lamented a lot about how much I have wasted my life and am now struggling to live as an adult and have my own life; but now, I'm thinking about how my parents have in a sense, wasted their own lives in failing to raise me and teach me how to be an adult and have a life. My parents have often shirked their authority, and expected other people, particularly the education system to raise me, they thought all the dysfunction in our family, and the poor relationship my brother and I, have with them was just normal. Maybe the best way to salvage my life and make up for the years wasted, is to help my parents salvage their life. This year, I've been planning to just jump head-first into my town and community, and just find what I can to start my own life. I'm now trying to discern how much time should be spent setting-up my own life, and how much should be spent saving my parents' life and their souls. I'll certainly have to spend sometime "quarantined" from them for a bit, as I will be going to confession this coming week.
Fr Chad Ripperger has written a book, Deliverance Prayers, published by Sensus Traditionis Press. On page 25 there is a prayer, Prayer to Remove Generational Spirits. Also, as a spiritual advisor said to me, maybe do an examination of conscience at lunchtime and at night time to keep on top of it. Hope this helps.

well they gave birth to you and got you to were you are now so not all bad ???? As for combating any bad spirits please don't jump into any diy stuff be careful
OR you could take an easier way. Entrust everything and everyone including yourself to Our Lady and just pray (rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet especially) and make reparation for her intentions for you all. She has all the means at her disposal to sort everything out. And she wants to!
I'm dealing with something similar. I got healed of a wheat allergy through Jesus by a deliverance priest a few years ago. I went through close to 25 years of getting migraines and puking almost everyday when I was younger. I would even get sick off the Eucharist growing up. So my guess generational. I came to the realization of Jesus presence in the Eucharist after a miracle connected to Fatima and a mystic and former Pro boxer Jack Marie Smith eternal rest be upon him. Before being of healed of my allergy I would just go to the precious blood of Jesus. Don't understand why I only Got sick receiving the Eucharist and not the blood. God knows why. I can receive both now.
My advice offer up your sacrifices to God aka the little way and just what Fatima talked about always through the Blessed Mother to Jesus. Over time he will help. I've learned this 33 years into my journey. Deliverance can help but it ussusually come back in my case close to a month later. Penance and trust is much more effacacious. for me then most deliverance prayers. To each his own.
Before receiving Communion once (several years ago) during the month of the Holy Souls, November, it occurred to me to offer my Communion up for EVERY one of my ancestors going back to the very beginning. I received and once I had done so, I heard discordant music and distant screams which I immediately connected to my petition and those ancestral souls who were suffering. The celebrant stopped and looked around confused, the congregation were also looking around in confusion, the celebrant stopped and said 'Can anyone else hear the noise?' No-one responded, the noises stopped and he continued. That was one Mass I won't forget and my petition clearly had some effect.
Will be ordering it shortly, however I have right now a long list of things to order online in preparation for the things that may be coming down the pipe; it is now No. 2 in my list though.
Are you advising what I was originally planning, just go head first into my community and find a job and the like, and just entrust my family to Our Lady?
Wow..I was just telling my husband about what you did and its a great offering..I think once the Churches reopen here, I may do the same. One thing that's puzzling though are the screams. I've heard demonic screams twice in my life..once in Medjugorje during an apparition- it scared the living daylights out of me- and the other was at Life in the Spirit after I was prayed on and received the Gift of the Holy Spirit. I heard demonic sounds ..weird sounds.. and couldn't understand what it was..I asked a few people..no one had answer for me and. Then went to the priest..he had no answer for me either. I came home prayed, opened the bible and the page ooene to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit (talk about divine guidance), one of which was discernment. I was left a bit bewildered. In any case going back to the screams you heard, the souls who were freed from purgatory I don't think would scream because they would rejoice at seeing Jesus, but the souls who cannot see God would suffer ever more..and I think you know what I'm saying. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
