A likely story. ..and it's Lent.

 

I see they will be looking for volunteers to nurse the sick. I am so happy about this and looking forward to it. I may not look pretty like Florence Nightingale. but I am up for it. I might even be able to talk the dogs into helping out.

The dogs will do as they are told. They are Irish Patriots. they know what's good for them.

 

I hate to sound pessimistic, but the good ol' USA has been too late in getting out of the starting gate to control the spread of the virus. Begin at the 13 min mark to better understand. Unfortunately, the conclusion is this will overwhelm medical care in our country and inflict a severe wound to the economy. Personally, if the markets collapse, that will have a huge effect on those dependent on retirement funds, etc.

For the first time, I am thinking this virus exhibits the justice of God on a world that has rejected Him.

my son may be headed home this week to work remotely for his company. He’s asked his dept. be allowed to as well. Other NY financial firms are actually advising it for their employees. Mine is worried about bringing it home to me, but I could care less...I’m only going to die of this virus if it’s my time to go.....so be it!

 

I don't know if its any comfort, but I don't think there was anything anyone could have done to avoid the full force of this.

But something President Trump said a few days ago has stuck in m mind. He said that the virus would disappear in, 'Miraculous fashion'. I wonder if he might have been speaking prophetically or known something no one else does?

..well anyway...

The health care systems of most countries are already under great strain because of ageing populations so this pandemic is going to break many systems of healthcare --

Then there is the economic repurcussions - markets in panic - has all the hallmarks of an oncoming tribulation --

 

Did anyone hear about the interview with Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool football club manager, during the week? It was very refreshing and the wags have said that it has apparently 'gone viral'. Apparently, at the end of some match, Klopp was asked his opinion about corona virus-cue Klopp rant as he went into verbal over-drive asking why it is that the opinions of famous people carry any more weight than that of anyone else, simply because they are famous and he finished up declaring that he was simply a football manager who wears a baseball cap and a bad shave and how could he possibly know anything about corona virus!? It was a scene of humility and realism and made the reporter look a complete fool. Perhaps it is no surprise that Klopp is so well-grounded as he is, although not a Catholic, a devout Christian and not a bit shy about it. It illustrates that those who lose touch with God are the ones who lose touch with what is real.

If only somebody could get this through to the likes of Bono and Geldof.

 

Well, they used to say that, economically, if the US caught a cold, the rest of the world caught the 'flu. We will all face the consequences, which is only justice.

I've been thinking that recent events have vindicated Trump's international economic strategy and that the rest of the world is increasingly realising it. Trump's motives might have been based on bringing jobs back for Americans and improving the US economy, but it has also become clear that the world had left itself far too exposed to dependency on China for too many vital commodities. When the dust settles, we will see a movement towards regional self-sufficiency, I think. This move, which will be led by a new generation of leaders such as Salvini and Orban, and others who have yet to emerge, might be the necessary stimulant that will revive various stagnant economies.

 

Breath in and hold your breath for 10 seconds. If your chests don't hurt you are alright.

I enjoy Jurgen Klopp very much. As a long 'suffering' Liverpool fan I have observed the freshness he brings with great joy..

I have been a U2 fan all my life. I saw them with friends in Dublin when both they and I were young. Their energy and directness and charisma blew me away that summer evening. And I have kept an eye on them since. Many, many of their songs reference the Lord.

They played "40" the night I saw them. It is Psalm 40, from the bible. Their version of it is truly inspiring, especially when heard live.

When they were young and on tour, they would pray together on the tour bus.

To my great disappointment however they came out in support of abortion being introduced here in Ireland, duringthe abortion referendum. I was stunned by this. Absolutely stunned. To this day I cant get my head around it.

I wonder what happened to them...

I expect the "deep state" happened to them. Like so many young and talented musicians they were offered a deal for fame and fortune. It probably seemed at the time not a big thing to do given what they were promised in return.

 

I've been a fan of Liverpool since the Shankly era, and Klopp is the best manager yet. He can retire now and he's reputation is unassailable. And all this with style and elan against a primary opponent facing credible accusations of massive cheating.

I was a firmly-entrenched fan of Bob Dylan when U2 arrived on the scene. I only saw them twice. Once on a small stage in the old 'Dandelion Market' and also in the Student Restaurant in Belfield, both times in 1979 before their commercial breakthrough. I never was impressed by their religiosity. It seemed to me to be too 'nice' and too easy. There were no lines like Dylan's 'they'll beg God to kill them and they won't be able to die' ( in reference to the damned). As AED said, such success can be accompanied by a high price. The only major rockers I've ever heard condemn abortion are Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Anybody aware of anyone else?
