It's the same here with regard to getting the message through to family and friends. One of my family is particularly vulnerable and I finally got the message through to her. She's elderly as are her friends but her friends seem to be oblivious to the danger. One of them whom she sees regularly just shrugged his shoulders saying "If I'm to die, I'll die". Thanks to the media playing down the risks, he's taking no precautions which makes him a threat to her. We're all going to die but I prefer it not be after I or my loved ones have experienced drowning from lungs full of fluid. Those of you in the US might find interesting this briefing from the experts at Johns Hopkins. What stood out for me is the real possibility that the virus can be airborne and as contagious as TB. Having no medical knowledge, I might well have misunderstood what was being said but that's what the person seemed to be saying.

I think Graces of State move into play when they are actually needed rather than when they are not. For instance I recall when I was a child and I had a day dream of my mother dying it would bring tears to my eyes and fill me with horror, how would we manage, what would we do? But when she did die far in the future she was old and ill and it all seemed so natural and right. So it is with worrying about the future. When such events come we wil be given the Graces and abilities to handle them. Not now, they haven't happened yet. But when the time comes Jesus will walk right alongside side us. Padre Pio is right , worry is useless. When we really do need Jesus in a specific situation He will be there with us. Not when we panic about things that have not happened and maybe never will. When we see people panic we see a situation where God is not present. it is not just shelves that are empty; it is peoples hearts that are empty.
Isn't it so strange how things work out? I am binge watching , 'Duncton Abbey', at work at nights at the moment and this piece was on last night: (I like Duncton Abbey, there are good moral lessons in it and the writers show compassion)
also https://www.usatoday.com/story/mone...covid-19-concerns-over-using-cash/4973975002/ The World Health Organization is reportedly encouraging people to use as many digital payment options as possible in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. While the primary way to spread coronavirus is via coughing and sneezing, viruses can survive on hard surfaces like coins for days in some cases. U.S dollars, a blend of fabric and paper, are harder for viruses to stick to. Still, the world's health agency is saying don't take chances if you don't have to, the Telegraph reports. "We know that money changes hands frequently and can pick up all sorts of bacteria and viruses and things like that," a WHO representative told The Telegraph. "We would advise people to wash their hands after handling banknotes and avoid touching their face." The WHO didn't explicitly say that money specifically is linked to coronavirus, which is also called COVID-19. However, the agency did say it's "advisable to use contactless payments to reduce the risk of transmission," the Telegraph reports. Representatives for the World Health Organization weren't immediately available for comment.
I was going to book some flights for this coming Summer, a few weeks ago at the start of February, but I decided not to. Glad I didn't now.
Her opinion is more prevalent than many are willing to admit. At least she was calling for more facilities to free up hospital beds. Euthanasia is an equally popular solution although it tends to be promoted as merciful. There's a reason nearly every report about virus related deaths stresses the age and former health condition of the deceased while stressing that there's no need for drastic measures because the vast majority of young people will get mild symptoms and life will go on for them. The online media with com boxes have plenty of comments like "what's the panic - she/he was old and would have died anyway". It all goes to promoting a mindset that sees "quality of life" as the barometer of who deserves to live or die, quality of life being dependent on the whim of whomever controls the narrative.
M Last week, My wife Thought I was crazy when I asked her to start stocking up for coronavirus. She thought it was excessive and alarmist. She did the weekly shop Yesterday, and her car arrived at the house. As usual I went outside to give here a hand lifting in the groceries. It took almost 45 Minutes to unload and store away the shopping, such was the volume she bought. I think the penny dropped with her this week when the cases of the virus starting rising here, and the shipping shelves started emptying. The wife of a local hospital doctor is also stocking up.
A strict limit of 2 small bottles of "alcogel" is being imposed in some shops here. Lol I'm convinced it will be a tradable commodity in short order. We had no alcogel, and just the two small bottles is at least some.
Utilitarian thought at its finest. Useless eaters as the nazis called them. Fasten your seatbelts folks.
Have Irish viewers noticed that new cases are only announced around 8 pm each evening? First it's on Breaking News, then the RTE website and then we get the 3 amigos at 5table on the 9 o'clock news telling us they're all over this blah blah Edited to add: Just to make a liar out of me, tonight they announced it before six. Only one case today though so that's good. It was moving very fast for the first week. Today's case is also imported from Italy
FP, We are in for difficult days. What does one do? We're flying to the West coast this coming week. Is that unwise? The focus of my ministry is chaplaincy. What am I to do? Abandon the elderly and critically ill to protect myself? I know my precious wife will want to shield me. But it is when one is confronted by impending death that they begin to think of eternal truths, maybe for the first time in years. May this be a time when souls are snatched from the enemy's hands! 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you. 7 Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you. 8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you. 11 To him be the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Above all, Trust God But you should take serious precautions on your trip to the west coast, wear a mask, gloves, wash hands. Lufthansa just announced they are cutting 50% of their flights because of all the cancellations and bookings that stopped. Word is D.C. is considering big tax breaks for the airlines and suspending all air fare taxes to get people to fly, but I don't think that'll work. People aren't going to fly even if it was free: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...tter-business&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic
You are right Terry. Now is not the time to take your hand from the plow". He who saves his life in this world will lose it. He who loses his soul for my sake will save it." I will be praying for your safety and your family too but be prudent and use protections that are in place. God bless.
