The cancer in the Church comes from teachings from bishops such as McIlroy (as above) who inhabit the world of double-speak. On the one hand he praises the virtue of chastity and then on the other hand relegates it to the dustbin by ignoring it. Without chastity there can be no growth in virtue since if we sin in the flesh this means that we are enslaved by base passions and lust. Living a fleshly life is incompatible with life in the Spirit and indeed impurity darkens the intellect and the will that eventually leads the soul to perdition. Of all the virtues purity and chastity are a mirror of the Triune God. That is why at Fatima our Lady stated that the sin that sends most souls to hell are the sins of the flesh. He who commits sins of the flesh is a slave to that sin that leads to spiritual death. Saint Maria Goretti is a role model of the Church’s zeal in defense of purity and that unique bravery purity imbues. The Church has always instilled this bravery in defense of virtue. That is why a faithful Catholic should prefer death to losing his or her purity. Jesus says to take up our cross and follow Him. We are called to imitate Him in His purity. This is the truth of the message of Christ that He empowers us through His grace to live lives of purity so that we might be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. This is the message that this generation refuses to listen to and rejects because they prefer the sin to the Saviour who asks that we follow the narrow path that leads to eternal life rather than the wide road that leads to perdition. When we fail in this area we bring it to God in the confessional but in no way do we condone such sin or marginalize it like McElroy does.
The tension is ratcheting up. I never thought just a few years ago that some in the Church would be launching a campaign against faithful Catholics. Historically there has always an order to the progression of marginalizing a group. The most famous example of this being what was done to the Jews in Nazi Germany. First it is pointed out how "different" the group is from the majority, how they don't "fit in" with everyone else. So begins the ostracization. This is followed by name calling. In our case we were first called rigid, now we are called a cancer, next we may be called heretics and schismatics and most likely we will be "excommunicated" at some point. "Ejected" from the Church for following Christ's teachings. How ironic. I hope I am wrong in my summation here, but from approved prophecy and what we know from the teachings of the Church herself this seems to be the direction we are headed in.
No doubt Praetorian, but what kind of Church will it be when the Sacrifice is no longer there? Those that hold the Faith will be FAR better off in the wilderness. Nurtured and depending on God for its sustenance. In fact, I believe that this great sign about to appear this weekend is a harbinger of just that. It will ratchet up even more so IMO.
“Consequently, I would say that, here too, beyond this great vision of the suffering of the Pope, which we can in the first place refer to Pope John Paul II, an indication is given of realities involving the future of the Church, which are gradually taking shape and becoming evident…. “As for the new things which we can find in this message today, there is also the fact that attacks on the Pope and the Church come not only from without, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church, from the sin existing within the Church. This too is something that we have always known, but today we are seeing it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church comes not from her enemies without, but arises from sin within the Church, and that the Church thus has a deep need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn forgiveness on the one hand, but also the need for justice. Forgiveness does not replace justice.” Pope Benedict
We know exactly what type of Church it will be Don. As Archbishop Fulton Sheen predicted: “[Satan] will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the [Catholic] Church … It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content.” We are living in the days of the Apocalypse, the last days of our era. The two great forces – the Mystical Body of Christ and the Mystical Body of the anti-Christ – are beginning to draw battle lines for the catastrophic contest. The False prophet will have a religion without a cross. A religion without a world to come. A religion to destroy religions. There will be a counterfeit Church. Christ’s Church the Catholic Church will be one; and the false Prophet will create the other. The False Church will be worldly, ecumenical, and global. It will be a loose federation of churches and religions, forming some type of global association. A world parliament of Churches. It will be emptied of all Divine content, it will be the mystical body of the anti-christ. The Mystical Body on earth today will have its Judas Iscariot, and he will be the false prophet. Satan will recruit him from our Bishops. The Antichrist will not be so called; otherwise he would have no followers. He will not wear red tights, nor vomit sulphur, nor carry a trident nor wave an arrowed tail as Mephistopheles in Faust. This masquerade has helped the Devil convince men that he does not exist. When no man recognizes, the more power he exercises. God has defined Himself as “I am Who am,” and the Devil as “I am who am not.” Nowhere in Sacred Scripture do we find warrant for the popular myth of the Devil as a buffoon who is dressed like the first “red.” Rather is he described as an angel fallen from heaven, as “the Prince of this world,” whose business it is to tell us that there is no other world. His logic is simple: if there is no heaven there is no hell; if there is no hell, then there is no sin; if there is no sin, then there is no judge, and if there is no judgment then evil is good and good is evil. But above all these descriptions, Our Lord tells us that he will be so much like Himself that he would deceive even the elect–and certainly no devil ever seen in picture books could deceive even the elect. How will he come in this new age to win followers to his religion? The pre-Communist Russian belief is that he will come disguised as the Great Humanitarian; he will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves … The third temptation in which Satan asked Christ to adore him and all the kingdoms of the world would be His, will become the temptation to have a new religion without a Cross, a liturgy without a world to come, a religion to destroy a religion, or a politics which is a religion–one that renders unto Caesar even the things that are God’s. In the midst of all his seeming love for humanity and his glib talk of freedom and equality, he will have one great secret which he will tell to no one: he will not believe in God. Because his religion will be brotherhood without the fatherhood of God, he will deceive even the elect. He will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the Church, because he, the Devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the Antichrist that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ … But the twentieth century will join the counterchurch because it claims to be infallible when its visible head speaks ex cathedra from Moscow on the subject of economics and politics, and as chief shepherd of world communism. (Fulton J. Sheen, Communism and the Conscience of the West [Bobbs-Merril Company, Indianapolis, 1948], pp. 24-25) We do not know yet if we are entering the time which Archbishop Fulton Sheen was speaking of or if that will come later, but even if we are not yet in that time, we are almost certainly in a time which will be a "type" of that time. A forerunner which will have many of the same qualities. Personally I think that time will come later, but there are certainly a lot of similarities with what we are going through right now. Important note: I am not saying or even hinting that Pope Francis or anyone else we can see right now is the False Prophet. I don't think that is the case. It is just striking that what Archbishop Sheen predicted about a worldly ecumenical Church seems to be what is being pushed for right now.
@Praetorian, Thank you for posting Archbishop Sheens talk on the possible anti-Catholic Church in the wrong sort of ecumenical union. I say 'union' because it appears a union of heresies would be the outcome if we go along with the many defections from the Truth already embraced by the thousands of Christian denominations around the world. Our Lady of Revelation thread with the videos and talks is the most amazing insight into how things are developing these days. Apart from the speakers personal opinion and condemnation of Medjugorje, I was amazed. In Fulton Sheens talk above. There was one point that stood out to me. I do not dispute a word he said. But when he says. The pre-Communist Russian belief is that he will come disguised as the Great Humanitarian; he will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves. A very holy Priest once told me that one Major difference between communism and Catholicism is Catholics seek peace, prosperity and brotherhood for Jesus sake. Communism demand by force using peace, prosperity and brotherhood for all, as a carrot to suck people in to their deception, and Governments demand to be the benevolent factor. When in reality God is the benevolent factor in our lives here in exile. So it is do we serve (obey) God First or serve (obey) the Government first.
http://the-american-catholic.com/2017/09/18/popewatch-humanae-vitae/ PopeWatch: Humanae Vitae Posted by Donald R. McClarey Monday, September 18, AD 2017 The next shoe to drop in this Pontificate? Father George Woodall, who teaches moral theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, outlined what he called “grave” concerns about a papal commission recently set up by Pope Francis that will, he says, “re-examine Humanae vitae (HV) in the light of Amoris laetitia.” The article was published on the National Catholic Register September 12. Pope Paul VI’s 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae taught that “each and every marriage act must remain open to the transmission of human life,” calling the use of contraception (including the pill, condom, withdrawal, and other methods) “intrinsically wrong.” The encyclical celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. Woodall listed the “precise points of doctrine” in the encyclical that he suspects the commission will re-examine. These include: “The principle of the inseparability of the unitive and procreative meanings of the conjugal act (HV, n. 12), stated by Paul VI to be the basis for the condemnation of contraception (HV, n. 14).” “The teaching that each and every conjugal act must remain open to procreation (HV, n. 11).” “The condemnation of contraception as intrinsically morally disordered and hence incapable of being justified even for a good intention in pressing circumstances on the basis either that it might be the lesser evil or that it might partake of the goodness of those conjugal acts before and/ or after, during the whole of the married life, which had been or would be open to procreation, the reason being that what is intrinsically immoral may never be done even for a good intention (HV, n. 14).” “The fact that this teaching, as the constant teaching of the Magisterium on this matter, is unchanged and unchangeable because the Magisterium has no power to decide what should be true, but only to proclaim what is true (HV, nn. 6, 18).” Woodall predicted that if the commission were to use the moral principles and language found in Pope Francis 2016 Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, it would recommend that Humanae vitae “should be rejected or, more likely, should not be interpreted legalistically.” The commission would likely say, he said, that the encyclical should not be “imposed as burdens on couples unable to bear them by those wishing to cast stones at people in difficulties, but should be presented to them as mere ‘ideals’, which married couples should seek to fulfill, but which they might not be able always to fulfill in pressing circumstances and which, for a good intention — and perhaps through discernment, assisted by a pastor in the light of their unique circumstances — they might violate, set aside, or interpret creatively,” he said. Just as the “pastoral approach” in Amoris Laetitia was used to suggest that the 6th commandment against adultery does not apply to some couples in “irregular” situations, so too in this case, said Woodall, a similar approach would be used to suggest that Humanae vitae does not “really apply to some couples because, in their circumstances they could not be expected to abide by them.” Go here to read the rest. This pontificate largely consists of demanding that Catholics follow the Pope’s leftwing political agenda, while pointing out how traditional Catholic moral teachings, anathema to the Left, may be dodged. May God forgive this Pope, his enablers and his fans.
This is like a Jaws movie. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... I just want to groan and pull the covers over my head.
Remember, God is in control. Fully. Nothing happens without His permissive will. We may not understand why God permits certain things to happen but we can be sure that whatever happens God wins in the end. He wins. All we must do is keep to our posts, remain steadfast, close to the Sacraments and Our Lady and pray. God is fully in control. Even if everything appears to the contrary. Be calm, serene, at peace and do not be afraid.
This move by the pope is simply demonic. http://magister.blogautore.espresso...a-and-caffarra-here-comes-the-francis-family/ So Long, Wojtyla and Caffarra. Here Comes the Francis Family 19 set > Italiano > English > Español > Français > All the articles of Settimo Cielo in English * The earthquake that has changed the face of the Pontifical Academy for Life has also struck the institute for studies on marriage and the family created by John Paul II and first headed by the theologian and then cardinal Carlo Caffarra. As of today this historic institute has been eliminated and replaced with another institute, with a different name. As is in fact stated in article 1 of the motu proprio “Summa Familiae Cura” published this morning, with which Pope Francis “has put his signature” to the transformation: “With the present motu proprio I institute the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences, which, associated with the Pontifical Lateran University, succeeds, replacing it, the Pontifical Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, established by the apostolic constitution ‘Magnum Matrimonii Sacramentum’, which therefore comes to an end.” All of the professors of the defunct institution have therefore also been dismissed, while there remain in office the current grand chancellor, Vincenzo Paglia, and the dean, Pierangelo Sequeri, whose appointment by Pope Francis had been, one year ago, the prelude to the current cataclysm. The two accompanied the publication of the motu proprio with a note that emphasizes the “direct involvement” of the pope, who - they are careful to say - “entrusts the task of crafting the rules, structures, and operations of the new theological institute” to the same “academic authorities of the historic John Paul II Institute,” meaning precisely to those two and to none other. In describing the “wider horizons” in which the institute will now have to move, Paglia and Sequeri refer, naturally, to “Amoris Laetitia,” but also to “Laudato Si’” and to the “care for creation.” It now remains to be seen who will be the professors of the new heading, who will be reconfirmed and who not, both in Rome and in the other branches all over the world. As it also remains to be seen what will become of the last publications of the defunct institute, especially that “Handbook” on the correct interpretation of “Amoris Laetitia” which is looked on as the plague by the paladins of communion for the divorced and remarried.
In case anyone forgot who this homosexualist apostate is ... remember, he is one of this pope's right hand men. http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/catholic-archbishop-paglia-homoerotic-fresco/ Archbishop Paglia’s Homoerotic Fresco By Rod Dreher • March 4, 2017, 2:02 PM Unbelievable!: The archbishop now at the helm of the Pontifical Academy for Life paid a homosexual artist to paint a blasphemous homoerotic mural in his cathedral church in 2007. The mural includes an image of the archbishop himself. The archbishop, Vincenzo Paglia, was also recently appointed by Pope Francis as president of the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. The massive mural still covers the opposite side of the facade of the cathedral church of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia. It depicts Jesus carrying nets to heaven filled with naked and semi-nude homosexuals, transsexuals, prostitutes, and drug dealers, jumbled together in erotic interactions. The story, from the Catholic Lifesite News, features photographs of the mural. You can see a lot more in the original piece from Repubblica, a left-wing newspaper and Italy’s second-largest. And the left loves to say that conservative Christians are obsessed with homosexuality. More from the story: According to the artist, a homosexual Argentinean named Ricardo Cinalli who is known for his paintings of male bodies, Bishop Paglia selected him out of a list of ten internationally-known artists specifically for the task of painting the inner wall of the facade. Bishop Paglia, along with one Fr. Fabio Leonardis, oversaw every detail of Cinalli’s work, according to Cinalli, who approvingly notes that Paglia never asked him if he believed in the Christian doctrine of salvation. “Working with him was humanly and professionally fantastic,” Cinalli told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica in March of last year. “Never, in four months, during which we saw each other almost three times each week, did Paglia ever ask me if I believed in salvation. He never placed me in an uncomfortable position.” “There was no detail that was done freely, at random,” added Cinalli. “Everything was analyzed. Everything was discussed. They never allowed me to work on my own.” More: In August of last year, Pope Francis moved Paglia from the Pontifical Council for the Family to the presidency of the Pontifical Academy for Life, as well as of the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, two organizations founded by Pope St. John Paul II to defend the sanctity of human life and family values. Soon it became apparent that the Academy was being radically transformed when new statutes were issued that no longer required members to sign a declaration of fidelity to the Catholic Church’s perennial teachings on the right to life. On February 17, it was confirmed that all Academy memberships had been terminated, leaving only Paglia and his staff at the top of an otherwise empty organization. Read the whole thing. And yet, somehow, Cardinal Burke and the “rigid” members of the laity are the problem.
http://magister.blogautore.espresso...s-in-the-chaos-of-amoris-laetitia/?refresh_ce Bye, bye Handbook? Safe in the Barque of Peter!
Thanks, David for posting this. It pretty much says it all. As St. Padre Pio said, "Pray, hope, and don't worry."
Yes, I also like this post. But I feel there is one thing missing from it - that we need to love. Life is all about love, loving God and our neighbour. As St Paul says: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
