Padraig, We do need to listen, and as you say wait for the Holy Spirit to give an effective response. A Maronite priest I know provided a wonderful suggestion. When a parishioner of his is out of line, Fr. Saba does not publicly reprimand. Instead, the next time he meets the parishioner, he'll say: " I recently read a passage of Scripture and you came to mind. Why don't you read it at home and then we can sit down together. I'd love to get your feedback." Pretty clever! Safe in the Truth of Christ!
I must say I so much admire Padre Pio for doing this , Terry. It takes lots of courage for a priest to pick up on stuff like this. People are so unmanageable these days and do not take to correction at all well. Few of us do. Quoting scripture seems good. But I suppose whether of not people accept the priests hint depends on if their hearts are open or not to it. I was just reading a story there about a young man form Switzerland and his mother came to visit Padre Pio. I think the young guy did not really want to be there and was only there to keep his mother company. During the mass he did not kneel and Padre Pio gave off from the altar that everyone would kneel, that no one was special. Forcing him to do so. But he told everyone that he would not kiss Padre Pio's mitten in confession, that it was a medieval practice and folks might get germs. However he came out of the confession white as a sheet and wandered out the door of the Church . He had felt drawn to kiss the stigmata and when doing do said it felt like a white hot iron. I respect the fact priests and Bishops are afraid these days, it takes huge courage to do so. But I suppose it comes with the spiritual territory.
That passage from Paul's letter to Timothy seems as newly minted as if written yesterday. A perfect description of the times we are in. I can't be hard on priests who don't ruffle feathers. I have become a coward myself. I used to be so bold and unafraid. I wonder sometimes what happened to my fortitude. I hope it is the Holy Spirit putting a guard on my mouth but I always distrust my motives. With me it is my children and husband. I just don't have the words any more. Now I just have prayer. Or oblique ways of inserting faith into the conversation. Kind of like Fr Saba with the scripture passage. I keep thinking that as things get worse and worse those of us who are timid might be emboldened to speak. But honestly will anyone listen? I was at my book club last night and it is entirely made up of very nice but totally secular apostate Christians who now scoff at "superstition" and one Jewish woman who is lovely but utterly secular. They like me and they always want me to attend their gatherings but they look at me as though I am a very nice relic from a time gone by who still holds to medieval ideas. I always wonder why they keep trying to include me. Last night they were bashing Donald Trump and all who support him and I said "uh in the interests of full disclosure I voted Republican. " dead silence. "Just so you know." Dead silence." So I won't jerk your chain and you won't jerk mine. Right?" And they all nodded and changed the subject.
Someone hinted to Padre Pio one time that he might have been too hard on penitents. To which he replied, 'The good ones always come back'. I thought that this was such a wise thing to say. Sometimes the words, 'Throwing your pearls before swine', comes to mind. It sounds such a hard thing to say, but it is true. There is no good arguing for the sake of arguing. With many people you can write the script before you open your mouth. If, on the other hand, they come knocking at your door first genuinely open to the truth , well that is different. It reminds of what Jesus said to the first 72 disciples when He sent them out, that if you go into a town and they don't accept you, shake the dust of your feet and move on. People are not accepting at the moment. It really is worse than the time of Noah. Far, far, far worse. But that's just the way it is.
A couple of you have responded to my mention of Fr. Saba. He is relentless. If necessary, he would invite the person to dinner in order to privately admonish the sinner. No getting away from Fr. Saba! He's a very loving man, but in his parish, the fear of the Lord must be very prevalent! Safe in the Flames of the Sacred Heart!

The only problem with discerning messages like these is that I find myself so sympathetic to them. In other words what they say about the Church and the world are so like my own as to be indistinguishable. It is almost like hearing myself talking to myself. But then again, why not? The truth is the truth. I confess I am as totally appalled at what is going on in the Church as the one who framed these messages. This is at one time a consolation (in not being alone in this perception) and a source of great crushing sadness. I agree there are total abominations on the way. They are on the card. Oh Dear Lord let me die before my eyes see them, I could not bear it.
I find myself in the same predicament. I pray the Lord manifests Himself before these abominations take place but it may have to go to the bitter end--the abomination of desolation in the Holy Place. I can't get my mind around it yet the BVM warned at Lasalette and at Fatima and at Akita. We have been told. The beast that is slouching toward Bethlehem seemingly senses "the hour come round at last" to further quote Yeats. If we live to see it Padraig we won't live long. We will be eradicated. Me too we have those wonderful prophecies by saints and Our Lady that when all seems lost all will be saved. Our Lady of Good Success said so in the 1600's about our time.

If "we" who know and love the true faith are not around, who is left to defend it? We will be here and the MOG forum has been a training ground for such soldiers. There is few left who uphold the true faith, so it seems. But after the Warning we will have more. My brother upon reading Pedro's last message replied, "Jesus in Matthew 10:35-36, adapts Micah 7:6 to his own situation and as a result we are commanded to love Jesus more then our family members and that will lead to persecution from others, even within the family". These are interesting times and I feel blessed having heavens messages to guide our thoughts and actions at this moment and into battle. God has and will continue to grace and prepare us for what lies ahead.
Perhaps we will live to see the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary & the Restoration of the Church but this could be a generation away.
