My grandmother, Rose, who is 92, is reaching the end of her road. She is in the hospital and her body is starting to shut down. She is ready to go (as she is not afraid to say!), but I would ask that you all say a prayer for her. Thank you so much.
What a lovely name Rose...Mary's favorite little flower. May she meet her Mother along the way and be escorted by her to meet Jesus. How lovely, really, to be "ready to go". We do not all get that gift. My aunt did, and said it many times too. It was sad, but in a way it was joyful because she was indeed ready. She kindof floated away, with a sigh.
She sounds like a special lady. One day soon, no doubt we will praying to her, rather than for her. But till that happy day I will continue to pray for her.
Prayers going up for your Grandmother. What a grace, to be ready to die. Sounds like a blessed woman.
Thank you all for your prayers. Grandma Rose died today around 6PM Buffalo-time. Your prayers were just what we needed- they helped make sure that her son was in the room with her when she died (along with other loved ones) and, most importantly, that we were able to get a Priest to come and give her last rites. Our "go-to" Priest was out of town this weekend, so we were a little desperate, when a Priest from another parish just happened to get a room number mixed up and appeared in the hall outside Grandma's room. My wife grabbed him and pulled him in and he performed the sacrament. It was such a great blessing. Thank you all, again, so much. Please continue to pray for her and the repose of her soul. Also, if you wouldn't mind, please say a prayer for her son, John (my uncle). This loss is going to hit him quite hard and it would be a wonderful thing if somehow, someway, it brought him back home to the Church.
God is so gracious, I was prompted to say the Chaplet at 3:00 for Rose, the time she was passing. Thank you for including us in this journey of you and your family's. What a blessing the Lord brought in the room mix-up. More prayers are heaped on your family especially for Rose's son.
Prayers for John Luke 15:24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
So a priest "appeared in the hall outside Grandma's room" There's an angel at work if I ever heard one...absolutely lovely display of God's Mercy. The miracle of the day! Point this out very explicitly to John when he is ready to receive it. That "appearance" may have been more for the family than for your Grandma, you know. Sounds like she is heading into God's hands...last rites and family near are such great graces and blessings. I will continue to pray for her as she journeys home.
