I have not had that "moment" when I have looked at s specific date and said, "that's it", bar the doors Katie! I don't think I will until a seer that I trust (as in Medjugorje) comes out with specific information or a specific date. There are a few others, but I don't think it will come from astronomers. That being said, I feel there are more than a few 'messengers' that God is speaking through and has been for decades. There are those also that have been shown in dreams what is to take place. Tomorrow ends the Year of Mercy and this is the most important event that we have to gauge where we are at in my mind.

I not too worried about the number of Pew Sitters as I believe that there are a vast number of Faithful "Out-There" who have been turned-off by the Milquetoast Church be it Catholic or Protestant or ????. The success of EWTN and a host of Christian TV/Cable/Satellite and Radio channels tells me this. For those, like me, who believe The Storm is neigh, it is a SIGN that The Lord will use whatever means necessary to bring us to Him .... and He wants the maximum number of Humans to, at least, have heard of Him when He makes Himself "visible" at the height of the upcoming unpleasantness. God is running The Show ..... I just wish I wasn't old & ........................ GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!
In fairness, CrewDog, I reckon the numbers of visitors to Rome would have been far less than the previous year if it hadn't been for the Year of Mercy. The attacks in Paris made everyone skittish about travelling to cities high on the ISIS hit list, and Rome tops the list. Credit is due to the Italian security forces for keeping Italy, especially Rome, safe. The Romans could also make a better effort to make their city more presentable. It has a run-down, neglected feel to it. That said, there's nothing particularly holy or sacred about the atmosphere in the Vatican. People shuffle through the Vatican Museum in an unending queue. They are crammed into the Sistine Chapel like sardines in a tin, and there isn't a hint of it being a sacred place built to facilitate worship and honour of Almighty God. The crowds who have paid to view the museums then exit into St. Peter's Basilica. Two small side chapels in the Basilica are reserved for celebrating Mass and perpetual adoration of the Blessed Eucharist. The rest is a sea of people taking selfies, a cacophony of noise, and the floor is showing signs of cracking from all the traffic. The staff are not particularly helpful either. Nothing about the Vatican is particularly welcoming or helpful to Catholics on a pilgrimage. Unless you are lucky enough to get one of the limited number of tickets to visit St. Peter's tomb, you queue to get a glimpse of it in a narrow passageway. Not much chance to pray to St. Peter as people wait their turn to take photos. I would be very surprised if the other three Holy Doors in Rome had even a quarter of the pilgrims who passed through the Door in St. Peter's. The lakes region of Northern Italy is a popular destination for tourists seeking something more upmarket than the Spanish Costas. It remains to be seen whether the earthquakes in central Italy will have an impact on their tourist trade next year.

An article on Debkafile gives a very good summary of what has been happening -Haifa on fire, 60,000 people evacuated. Also, the Jewish Press is live-blogging. Haifa is famous for it's philosophy of co-existence which is put on display every year in December during an event that they call The Holiday of Holidays. Perhaps they will have to cancel it this year. The Holiday of Holidays in Haifa Haifa, Israel's third largest city, is a symbol of religious coexistence. Every year in December, it marks The Holiday of Holidays - a celebration of a harmonious relationship between monolithic religions of the area.
