We had some devastating tornadoes a couple days ago rip across our state and other southern states. Even my husband and I and baby experienced some tornadoes. We had two come at us, one stopped and the other we thought we could see at night. It went up into the wall cloud and went over us. We are safe, thank God, but so many people have lost and missing loved ones, no homes or belongings, no electricity. We have been out of power for 3 days, our town, towns next to us and cities. So much devastation everywhere. Alabama was hit the hardest. It is sooo sad! Over 25o people have died in these storms just in Alabama. Please pray for the victims, loved ones and all those who are missing and without shelter. We were blessed, because we live in the 5 mile radius from the Shrine that is protected according to Maria Esperanza.
Thank God you are ok! We have a friend in Alabama who we were worried about, but he is ok also. So much sadness, such sobering images on TV today. Praying for Mercy...His Divine Mercy! And getting more salt and water from Church tomorrow! My daughter was very close to the line of destruction...they have massive flooding down there though (but her new house is still ok), the tip of Illinois missed the worst of the storms - this time.
Praying for the USA. Folks - this is the reality - The Medjugorje messages tell us to 'Get Ready', 'Be Awake', 'Convert'!!. Disaster can strike at any time so now is the hour of our salvation, now is the time of conversion. Our Lady says 'Don't delay'. Disasters, earthquakes, famine, pestilence, disease etc have afflicted all generations - there will be an intensifying of these in our generation but the difference is many today are just not ready to meet their maker. Many, many people lost their lives in Japan, & USA - how many were ready? No one knows but the message is clear from all of these things - convert and be ready - for we do not know the hour of His coming, we do not know when the Master will call. Pastor Wilkerson was prophecying one day and the next day the Lord came to take him home. He did not live to see the prophecies fulfilled but he was ready!! This is the message of Medjugorje - convert now, turn from sin and trust in Divine Mercy for no matter how scarlet our sins have been they can be washed whiter than snow by the Blood of the Lamb!! All praise and thanksgiving for the cleansing power of the Blood of the Lamb! All Praise & Thanksgiving be to Jesus Christ for his saving Passion, Death and Resurrection. All praise and thanksgiving be to the Holy Trinity, the Thrice Holy God for his Mercy endures forever. All Praise and Glory and Honour be to Almighty God whom we worship in Spirit and Truth. Allelulia.
Praying... jmj are you anywhere near Madison County? My prayers are definitely with you... I was just going to post a prayer request too but decided to add it here... Please join me also in praying a prayer of thanksgiving for those who survived and for consolation for the victims who died and lost loved ones from this past weeks storms in the South. Miraculously my son, daughter-in-law and my two granddaughters were spared...PRAISE GOD!!! I prayed THE PRAYER OF BLESSING AGAINST STORMS! from the Pieta Prayer Book when the storms began the day before... My son Joe was in Birmingham, AL during the tornadoes there and my daughter-in-law Lynn and my two granddaughters Megan and Brittany were home in Toney, AL when they were hit... Their home was lightly damaged yet just 100 feet from their home there is nothing left; two people in the neighborhood were killed... http://blog.al.com/breaking/2011/04/7_dead_in_madison_county_torna.html#incart_mce
Check this out! Exactly WHAT does it take for a declaration of disaster? Jesus Mercy!!! Pray, pray, pray... My son's neighborhood... click on small picture at the upper left of article... http://www.topix.com/city/toney-al/2011/04/this-is-not-a-disaster-madison-limestone-morgan-and-jackson
Thank God you and yours are safe Meg. Praying for you all. I am remembering something Pastor Wilkerson said so wisely. He said things like this are an act of God's Mercy , a wake up call. Only a [erson of the deepest faith and prayer could have looked at it this was. But when you look at places like say, Haiti or Japan they kinda got it full on with out any real previous shaking. In America these are comparitvely gentle. I wonder if any politicians or National Religious leaders are calling for prayer and fasting...repentance...I hope so.
ForHimthroughHer, I am thankful for God's protection over your son's family. As the Governor of Mississippi said yesterday, his State must also prepare for the flooding of the Mississippi River in a couple of weeks due to massive amounts of rain that have fallen in the areas of its northern tributaries. I weep and I pray. I weep and I pray. Our Lady's Mantle and the Lord's hand of protection are being removed from the earth, so that repentance might come to the hardened heart...but, it is so painful to see. "How long, Oh Lord, how long?" I am like Jeremiah weeping over Jerusalem: Lam 1:11 My eyes are spent with weeping; my soul is in tumult; my heart is poured out in grief because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because infants and babes faint in the streets of the city. 12 They cry to their mothers, "Where is bread and wine?" as they faint like wounded men in the streets of the city, as their life is poured out on their mothers' bosom. 13 What can I say for you, to what compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What can I liken to you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For vast as the sea is your ruin; who can restore you? AS we reach out with prayer, aid, and the hope of the Gospel, let us view things with the eyes of Faith. As God restored the fortunes of Judah so as to reveal his Son, so let us see these trials as a purifying grace to revive souls and bring the Restoration for which we long. Then shall our Eucharistic Lord be truly worshipped and adored. Then shall his promised Peace flourish. Maranatha! Safe in the Hewarts of Jesus and Mary!
I've been watching the stories of those affected by the Tornadoes and I'm so thankful for those who were not harmed and warmed by their expressions of love for God. I heard one person say, 'my children are ok and I have my picture of the last supper'; another said ' people's homes and churches are flattened' and the countless who appreciate God for saving them and shared they prayed throughout the storm to be safe in God's arms. It was very apparent of how people live their lives with God closely. I am thankful for God's intervention in moving one tornado out of the path of a hospital to go around it. One poor guy almost was hit by a second tornado in the same day had God not sent the tornado off in another direction. Earlier that morning the man's son was blown out of their collapsing house, only to walk back to his parents just fine with only a few bumps and bruises. That was a testimony of God's mercy. I'm so thankful for all of our forum family members that made it through and I'll keep them in my prayers that they have their needs met as time moves forward and they begin to recover. Blessings upon them. Kath
ForHimThroughHer, Madison County is not too far from us. I haven't heard much about their damage. I'm glad your family is safe. We are still out of power as well as Hanceville and Cullman, so we haven't watched the news to see pictures. It's not bad really without electricity as long as we continue to have running water. Man, you sure taje things for granted until they're taken away, and the basics become so important to you. All praise and thanksgiving be to God! We are very fortunate and blessed!
A couple years ago when the big storm hit the Carbondale IL area, my daughter was without power for over a week. It is humbling. We went down there for two resons, first she graduated from college that weekend! And they went on with the ceremony, having it in the football field instead of the auditorium, second we helped them with the cleanup. One of the relatives did bring them a small gas generator so they at least had a lamp or two lit, but we burned a lot of candles before that. We stayed in a hotel nearby that was allowing guests. They passed out flashlights to all their guests. The worst thing was no hot water...(and no curling irons! Some stores were open, and my mom bought sponge rollers and bobby pins!) Hang in there, JMJ, our prayers are with you!
Yes, it is all just beginning, I was blessed to be able to attend some beautiful Divine Mercy Services with a Solemn Mass and Benediction; went to confession before and Fr. told me that the two most powerful prayers were in the Holy Rosary, the Our Father and Hail Mary and to never stop saying these prayers and that time was very short... I needed this reminder because lately praying seems so difficult while waiting in anticipation. Fr. said it doesn't matter how we feel while we are praying, just to continue praying... he said yes, it is important to pray from the heart but... just continue praying anyway... God bless him, he said two Masses that morning, held confession from 1to 3:30pm, then began the Divine Mercy Mass, Chaplet etc... then went back to the confessional to finish for those who had been waiting before Mass, then he said another Mass at 5:30 pm, all by himself... Thank you and God bless you all... know that everyone is in my prayers and Rosaries...
