I don't doubt, Brian, that he was a very holy man. I don't know all the ins and outs of these post-Vatican 11 troubles. It's sad that we can't all be one as Jesus wanted, but we can't have real unity without accepting that the Pope is the visible head of Christ's Church and we owe him obedience. Authority has to count for something.

No, Pope Benedict never said that Cardinal Bertone has deceived himself. That is flat out false.

Both Bertone and Benedict were right: Bertone was referring to the fact that the majority of the message of Fatima was specifically concerned with 20th Century evils. Benedict was stating that the Triumph is not yet complete, so of course Fatima remains to be concluded.

There is a provision in Canon Law to allow non-Catholics to receive Communion under certain cirmumstances. We don't really know what was said behind closed door between Francis and the Lutherans he met; maybe they have professed belief in the True Presence. We await further details of just what exactly happened between Francis and those Lutherans and just what exactly were the circumstances that led the Lutherans to receive Communion in Saint Peter's Basilica.

As for Pope Francis's decision to allow the feet of women to be washed, this is entirely justifiable for the fact that the Pope has supreme jurisdiction in Canon Law and this is not a matter involving Faith or Morals; this is simply a matter of tradition with a lowercase "t"

The Orthodox are in need of full Communion, not Conversion. I have never taken interest in conspiracies but am simply not convinced that the full truth about Fatima has been given to the faithful. As such I do not believe the Church has lied to us but I believe it has withheld information. That is Her right. I never interpreted that the promise of peace meant that all wars would stop for all time. I did see the fall of the Berlin wall and the end of Communist government of Poland etc as affirmation that A consecration had been done but came to see that THE Consecration had not been done. The consecration of 1984 was acceptable to God but not identifiable as that requested by Our Lady of Fatima because no mentoin was made of Russia. The Communist Party of both China and North Korea were set up by agents sent from Russia. This is historical fact. We have been told that the Tribulation will come from Russia and through Communism. Looks like it's all on cue. No matter what has been said I cannot see that the 1984 aattempt complied with the simple and clear request of Our Lady, either in time or in terms. The consequences of this non-compliance will be visited on the world in the near future. Our local community police officer tells me that one of the biggest factors in youth crime is the disregard of consequence. Sadly I fear the world will soon realize the full implications of this neglect. Who would have thought that the original sin would have had such far reaching consequences? But it did and it does. That was a sin of disobedience. Was the Consecration of Russia a wish or a command. Was it disobeyed? I don't know. And I feel I should.
