Thank you Davidtlig for the above video, I think MS7 said it so well when she stated that ' we are so fortunate to have both Pope Frances and Pope Emeritus Benedict, guiding us at this moment' and I want to reiterate this sentiment; How privileged are we! The Mercy of God is fully open to the church at this time, and its a time of incredible need! God is so merciful who could have foreseen this? Only God in His infinite mercy! Praise be God. Praise be His Holy Name.
When I started this thread I did not know Miker had already started one on the Year of Mercy. Lets keep it simple and just post to his. He knows how to upload things files etc. My Mac does not! (Apple Mac that is)
I wish everybody all the graces from God in this Holy Year of Mercy that started on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, something that was quite forgotten in last night’s circus at Saint Peter’s Square. I also hope you didn’t lose yet any of the graces from the recent Holy Year of Faith. My soul magnifies the Lord And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; Because He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaid; For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed; Because He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name; And His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him. He has shown might with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of His mercy Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever. (from Luke’s Gospel 1:46-55)
Last night I dreamed I was in some bar and an altercation happened over a pool game then at the end of the dream I was stabbed in the throat and jumped up awake. I felt it was a spiritual attack. I am rarely in bars just to note. Yesterday on the start of the year of mercy and the feast of the immaculate conception I started the day at the doctors with my lifeless two year old daughter. My doctor diagnosed pneumonia in both lungs and advised me to get to the hospital ASAP and drive in the taxi lane. I spent the day there mainly praying over her including the Divine Mercy chaplet then by evening time we were given the all clear, pretty much. Just use an inhaler and some light doses of non prescription stuff, we were delighted. I even made Mass that evening as my wife looked after our little angel. She is right here beside me now snuggled up asleep as I write this. So not sure why I had that dream last night and why my little girl was so sick yet recovered all on 8 December. My real concern is spiritual attack and how to defend against it. Even in that dream before I was stabbed I had seen the three culprits in a corner of that bar giggling like daemons, very sinister and worrying. Any advise for me greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The enemy is especially enraged on our Lady's feast days - how much more so at the beginning of the Jubilee year of mercy! It's so predictable that the enemy struck your child - your weakest spot. But the Blessed Mother is on the job - it sounds to me that you are safe in the Blessed Mother's arms.
Daniel O'connor has a fabulous post on our job during the jubilee year of mercy: http://dsdoconnor.com/2015/12/08/and-so-it-begins/ And this video is fabulous: don't miss his advice to true believers, starting at 17:36
In the video we are told we only have to try to do what we believe rather than know what is God's will. We need faith rather than knowledge. Each day I try to remember to ask God to let me be aware of his will for me and for the power and willingness to cooperate with His Grace and Mercy. Each day I thank Him for his Mercy. I need to ask Him more often to help me trust in His love and mercy and that he has me exactly where he wants me as is suggested in the above video. Thanks Kathy.
Just two more thoughts before I get on with my day. Mary was conceived for me. Jesus was crucified for me. Mary is Grace. Jesus is Mercy.
I felt really sorry for your baby and for you when I read that. If you have the possibility, pray the rosary at 6:30pm because that’s the time when they do it at the apparition’s site in Fatima. The Irish time is the same. I don’t know what say but, I do know a woman who was really in trouble, always depressed, under medication and talking about suicide all the time. That lady suddenly discovered, or rediscovered, the religion. She doesn’t take pills anymore, she is always at the Church and talking about saints, she is happy and supernaturally calm since then. She has been at least two years like that. But, since she became religious, she started to get bad troubles at home mainly with her family and she went to talk to a priest about that. He gave her a little Saint Benedict’s cross to carry in her purse and told her that cross is really powerful. It’s always good to have one or two sacred objects, blessed by a priest, at home. I don’t know how they do over there, but here, everybody saves a little branch of olive tree, from the Palm Sunday mass, somewhere in the house. The old people often throw a bit of that on the fireplace and say a little pray when they feel troubled with something.
I loved the way he used "the veil" as an explanation of our life here. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of our acts of faith, hope and trust, especially when prayed universally in the Divine Will!
Wonderful video from Danial and thanks for posting. Also, thanks to you all for your kind words and for helping me understand my story from yesterday.
I've always been fascinated with the interplay of mercy and justice. Neither can be properly had without the other. That why I'm in awe in what Pope Francis said on opening the door of Mercy " THIS IS THE DOOR OF THE LORD. OPEN TO ME THE DOORS OF JUSTICE. THROUGH YOUR GREAT MERCY I WILL ENTER YOUR HOUSE LORD". The doors of Justice as well as Mercy were opened. Here is Peter who has the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven commanding as well as asking...that the doors of Justice be opened to him. It almost sounds to me he is invoking the power of Justice such as Moses had or even Jeremiah or Elijah. Any thoughts on this.
In the cross of Christ. We see heaven and hell, the heaven of mercy and the hell of wrath. the heaven of righteousness and the hell of unrighteousness, the heaven of Christ’s gracious substitution, the hell of facing justice without an advocate, without a substitute. If there is no hell, there is no need for a cross. The cross shows us the depth of our sin and the height of God’s holiness, the purity of God’s wrath and the greatness of God’s mercy. The cross assures us that hell exists. The cross demands that we look to Jesus hanging there and put all our faith, all our hope, all our trust in him.
Thank goodness she is fine. Will keep you and family in prayer. I'm thinking that as much as we will be folded with mercy during this year, we will all also be facing evil on a personal level. Let's keep each of us- all on the forum- including those who decided to take a break- in prayer
The Sister giving commentary during the opening of the Holy Doors made of ref to Exodus 12... 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old; you shall take it from the sheep or from the goats; 6 7 Then they shall take some of the blood, and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat them... It is the Lord’s passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you, upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall fall upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt... MT 16, 18 And I tell you, you are Peter,[a] and on this rock[b] I will build my church, and the powers of death[c] shall not prevail against it.[d] 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven Revelation 3:7 [ The Message to Philadelphia ] “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens. Pope Francis " THIS IS THE DOOR OF THE LORD. OPEN TO ME THE DOORS OF JUSTICE. THROUGH YOUR GREAT MERCY I WILL ENTER YOUR HOUSE LORD" Maybe im reading this statement wrong. Pope Francis just unlocked St Faustinas last chance, just like the first Passover ? Did anyone notice all those kissing the door posts ?
