Just came in from snow removal. Received 13" of lake effect snow today. The temperature this evening was -8F with the wind chill. Even with gloves, my fingers tingled for 5 minutes after I came in. I was only out shoveling for 30 minutes. I simply shoveled in front of the garage and the path down to our backdoor. There is 2 feet of snow on the level with another 16 inches tomorrow and 20 mph winds. We hired a plowman to clear the rest of the driveway and he'll have to return again Saturday evening.

It's bitter outside with those winds! Praying for y'all.

Take care of yourself. To be out in such wind chill is dangerous.

Ended up being -48 wind-chill where I was when I was working outside. Other parts of MN went as low as -63 below zero.

-48 zero wind-chill is 80 degrees below the temp that water freezes (32 degrees)

-For reference on how much colder than freezing that is...
80 degrees above the freezing point is 112 degrees....

Frostbite sets in in less than 5 minutes at these temperatures.
    Your exposed skin stings immediately.
Your lungs can feel the cold air enter...something hard to describe...you have to experience it.
Your eyes start to water and your nose will start running, but you need to get rid of the water or it will freeze.
If you have facial hair your breath will freeze on the hair immediately.

I know up in Alaska and northern Canada it gets much colder, so I am thankful for not having to work outside up there.

I just realized I can’t leave my trailer and bug out without making some kind of effort to winterize it. I’ve never had to consider winterizing my trailer. Since I’ve lived in it full time for 6 years now I don’t have RV antifreeze.

I have three gallons of ethyl alcohol hand sanitizer I bought for Covid and never used. It was originally a thin gel but now after five years of storage it’s the consistency of water.

I’ll drain the hot water tank. I disconnected the hose, drained it and turned off my friend’s outdoor faucet.

I’m going to drain the onboard water tank with the onboard pump through the faucets in the trailer, then put ethyl alcohol in the onboard tank and use the onboard pump to run that through all the hot and cold water lines. That will fill the drain and their traps with ethyl alcohol too.

At this point I don’t know what else I can do in such a short period of time. I only decided to bug out today, when I realized there was a large chance of local ice build up and power outages.

This storm is definitely different than anything I’ve experienced in 60 years, with the anticipated combination of huge snowfall amounts, very bitter cold and projected ice accumulations.

I take winter in stride otherwise.

But this storm has me very unnerved.

Thank you Rory, I am adding my prayers with yours.
We are expecting 12-18" of snow and temps with wind chills upwards to -35°.

I find it suspicious that this winter storm was supposed to be much smaller initially, but after they sent their "hurricane hunter" aircraft out into the Pacific to collect data, suddenly it was projected to get much bigger and basically spread all over the U.S. Were they really only collecting data?

I don't know what to believe anymore.

So…if the deep state can control the weather, are they manipulating this massive winter storm?

I’ve never seen anything like it, with the anticipated combination of huge snow and ice accumulations, and arctic cold temps.
