On Friday, we're supposed to get a winter storm here in TX that will keep us below freezing all weekend. There will be lots of ice, and in my area lows will be sometimes in the single digits.

My husband works 12 hour night shifts Fri, Sat, and Sun, and because of his 1.5 hour commute, all of which will most likely be covered in ice, he's going to be stuck in the city, unable to come home all weekend. It will just be me and the kids holding down the fort here, praying the power doesn't go out and that our pipes don't freeze under our modular home.

We do have a generator hooked up to the house so we can run most things, including the well and septic...but we can't run the heater. And we have no fireplace. We do have a couple small space heaters.

Will you please pray that the power stays on and it doesn't stay in the single digits very long?

Praying, PF. I just heard the weather report for your area. We might get a huge snowfall in Maryland over the weekend, with plummeting temps.
Praying for God’s mercy on us all.

We had plans to get either that or a fireplace, but we ran out of money for it

Visiting my sister 2 hours north and they're in the Lake Huron snow belt. We had a blizzard yesterday. Not sure if/when I will get back home this week.

Prayers for all in the storms!

This prayer can be traced to St. Anthony of Padua.

Make the sign of the cross on the + symbol.

Jesus Christ a King of Glory has come in Peace. + God became man, + and the Word was made flesh. + Christ was born of a virgin. + Christ suffered. + Christ was crucified. + Christ died. + Christ rose from the dead. + Christ ascended into Heaven. + Christ conquers. + Christ reigns. + Christ orders. + May Christ protect us from all storms and lightning. + Christ went through their midst in Peace, + and the Word was made Flesh. + Christ is with us with Mary. + Flee you enemy spirits because the Lion of the Generation of Juda, the Root of David, was won. + Holy God! + Holy Powerful God ! + Holy Immortal God! + Have mercy on us. Amen!

Im going to keep you in prayer all day. This is a scary scenario. The prayer against storms in the Pieta prayer book is immensely powerful. You can find it on line.

One way to prevent your pipes from freezing over is to keep the water running from the well, even at a small amount. The water from the well will be warmer than the ambient temperatures, helping to keep your pipes from freezing. If you can put some old blankets around the main water pipe to help with keeping heat in the pipes. The blankets have to remain dry though.

    Prayers for you and all!

Thank you for the prayer padraig! I remember reading ST. Faustina. A terrible storm was moving through and Jesus told her to pray the Chaplet of Mercy, which she did and the storm stopped

My son read in the manual that came with our house (maybe the septic section) that they advise against dripping faucets during freezing weather because it keeps a small bit of water going through the septic line, making it more prone to freezing. Or something like that, lol. I should probably read it myself. But now I'm not sure whether dripping faucets is the right thing to do or not.

My family and I were awoken a few years ago by our phones with a tornado warning. So we went to the basement and I prayed that prayer against storms. There were two twisted trees on the border of our property the next day. I think I prayed just in time. The prayer works.

When the big fire came here in the summer I believe the field in front of my house was the only field that did not burn. It really stood out. Also although the properties around the little chapel at the bottom of my field burnt the chapel itself never got a scratch. Also my little house was totally untouched. I am not claiming a miracle but to me it really stood out. Anyway so grateful still to have a home to live in. :)

I really admire people in the USA in the boondocks who face these extreme weather conditions with such courage. It also shows me that with thought and hard work it is very possible to improve things in my own home and make it more comfortable and safer,

    Still praying!!!:)
