Today a family member, myself and another non Catholic went to Church today. I told my son about Divine Mercy Sunday...never was it mentioned ...instead during the homily it was just a canonization speech on Pope Francis..
I felt terrible that today of all days, this is what we got... is this a sign of the Times?? I felt embarrassed by this and the others were turned off by it as well.
Not a good sign to me

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. Our sweet Hispanic Priest had the whole church say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy after every Mass.

I guess it varies on the Church and the priest. Here, in the local parish (Novus Ordu) , while there was a picture of the Pope draped in black to the side of the altar, the picture of Divine Mercy was directly in front of the Altar, and the Priest's homily was concerned entirely with Divine Mercy. The late pope was mentioned in the prayer intentions, but wasn't mentioned in the homily as far as I can remember.

This happened to us, too, at the Diocesan Celebration. We had many people streaming to Confession and many Priests hearing Confessions before the Mass. At the eulogy / Sermon, I just sighed and felt sad inwardly but at the same time I was able to remind myself that I would soon be receiving Holy Communion and receiving the great grace of Divine Mercy , which no one could take away. I feel it would be better if the Clergy would say as little as possible about the life and death of P.F. but some must feel it necessary to put a bold face on. I look forward with hope to the election as we will get whoever we are going to get, and there is every chance it will be someone who is perfect for the job. If it is one of those "others", we will know it pretty quickly.

And we know how to survive now, having been under a heavy cloud for 12 years.

I read a very good book recently, by Michael D. O'Brien, called "By the Rivers of Babylon." It is a dramatization of the prophet Ezekiel being taken into Babylonian Captivity. It is well worth reading. I found it brought me a sense of peace. It is a story of a Chastisement by God on the people of God, the Israelites, and the background of what led up to it.

I will definitely look for the book thank you. I prayed through it all and was so happy to receive Jesus, I just felt sad for Him and for the people who wanted to hear of His mercy. But I definitely have another place to go next week...I think God is leading me back there..we shall see.. it's a journey.

Yes in fact maybe the Priest needs my prayers. He seemed angry. I'll be praying.

Oops! My homily focused on Thomas, though I did include a long preface on Divine Mercy, and we did pray for the repose of the Holy Father's soul!:cautious: So much to consider!

I also spoke of the beauty of today's Collect which included the following precious lines:

...that all may grasp and rightly understand: in what font they have been washed, by whose Spirit they have been reborn, by whose Blood they have been redeemed, through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen!

I will be happy with any Pope who isn't a part of this abomination of a rigged globalist carnival game. Which is exactly what the last 12 years felt like for me, a rigged carnival game. Everything is made to look like it is honest on the surface, but below every single part is rigged and rigged for evil outcomes. Not just in the church, but in everything.

A great outcome would be for Pierebattista Pizzaballa as next Pope. Would combine Peter as in St Malachy’s prophesy as rebuilder and strengthening the Church during tribulations and Battista/Elijah (St John the Baptist is thought by many to be Elijah in his second coming). It would represent the fulfillment of two prophesies in one person. It would be wonderful for Elijah to return as the last Pope before end of times, and keeper of Church during the worst of the tribulation.

After a long wait they managed (God knows through what means) to get rid of much hated leaders such as John Paul and Benedict and install one of their own in the Chair of Peter.

The Pope is the moral leader of 1.4 billion Catholics in the world.

They won’t let go of that easily and I’m sure right now enormous pressure is being exerted on many many cardinals to make sure they get another one of their own up there to finish the job so to speak.

So does that mean we’ll be stuck with one similar to the one recently deceased or worse?

    Far from that.

God is ultimately in control and He could act in a surprising way.

The question I think is is it time for Him to intervene or is it still time for Him to allow man’s will to prevail and darkness to completely descend upon His church?

    I don’t know but we’ll soon see.

I could be wrong but it seems no credible contemporary mystic (Jennifer, Zaro, Manuela Strack - well my limited understanding anyway) has mentioned that the rebirth of the church is right around the corner in the next year or so.

I interpret his passing right after Easter as a sign of resurrection and hope for the Church. It would have been different if he had passed after Ash Wednesday. Also St Malachy’s prophesy points to a rebuilder, Peter the Roman. I have much hope and think the next Pope will be a light in the midst of the tribulations we are living. I will be traveling with my mom, my two daughters and my 26 year old niece for the Youth Jubilee in Rome this August. My son will be traveling on pilgrimage with 500 youth from South Florida — 10 buses of 50 youth each with a Priest. Please pray for the youth that will be traveling.

I agree! I have much hope for this pope. Just think of how many holy young priests there will be, praying for the cardinals during this conclave. And all the devout Catholics that realize what is at stake.... So many prayers rising up!
