I am not an End Time Prophet like Charlie Johnston or Mark Mallett and I am afraid I have not studied into time frames too much. But from my own prayers and studies , I would guess (and yes it is a guess). The next two years will see us move fully into the Tribulation and after that the world as we know it will pretty swiftly change from what we now know to something else entirely. This is not really all doom and gloomy (at least I don;t think so_. The new world will be much more simple with far less technology and a return to the simple life. We will pay an apparent price in loosing what we think of as material riches for spiritual ones. So as far as your son is concerned he will have much, much, much more chance of becomming a saint and not going to hell. That is what you need to keep before your head and heart, the end goal of all this. We, all of us need to embark on a journey of much, much, much deeper prayer to increase our trust. 2015-2021 I am due to 'retire' 2023 but have long given up hope of every having a pension or retiring. Somewhere deep down I have known this for a long time. But as we see the signs multiply and the growing dictatorship of government the storm intensifies all the more because the 'fuel' for the storm is immorality and sin. Darkness pervades this sad world but the light of Christians burns the more brighter in the dark. What has surprised me the most, and America is a good example, is how quickly governments are moving towards totalitarianism. And this is possibly how the Mass gets suppressed as in the Garabandal prophecies because Catholics in a state of grace are and will oppose the New World Order and all it stands for. Soon the Church will lose charitable status and then they will demand change in doctrine and belief. The Catechism could be suppressed for containing 'hate speech' and Christian assembly denied. Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would live to see a day where homosexual unions would be perversely called marriage. But it is going to get even darker. God has taken away His restraining hand and we will see evil flourish. And the only resistance to this growing evil will be Christians who will say 'enough is enough' and sacrifice everything for Christ and His holy mother in opposing evil ideology. Evil will become so bad Christians will be praying for and calling down the justice of God. All around is the spirit of anti-Christ. Stay close to Mary, the pure Ark of the Covenant.
I think Bobby that the fact that you have not lost your power to be shocked and offended is a very good sign. For the fact that you can be still shocked by evil is a sign that you have not yet lost your spirit of innocense. But a time is coming..and it is not far off when evil incarnate will walk the Earth. When men, like the demons themselves incarnate will dedicate themselves in a spirit of pure evil..and that leading them will be our former sisters and brothers in the Faith, foremost amongst them the Cardinals, Bishops and priests who once stood spiritually over us. ..and that these will be the collective head of the evil that will seek us out to our material and spirtual destruction. When those days come..and they are almost upon us we will need our Innocense to light us in our collective darkness. The days of days , which were they not shortened , would lead to the ending of all that is.

just get in the boat with the Lord and we have nothing to fear. I for one, as terrible is this may sound, have wanted the global economy to collapse for a long time. I have wanted a simpler and yet harder life for this will bring many even closer to the Lord. It is God's will because it is the global financial system that has so much evil around it in the world. It is obvious to me that this evil system must be judged by the Lord and true individuals that are just "in" the world and not "of" it should want this justice to come as well. Money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6: [6] But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into this world: and certainly we can carry nothing out. [8] But having food, and wherewith to be covered, with these we are content. [9] For they that will become rich, fall into temptation, and into the snare of the devil, and into many unprofitable and hurtful desires, which drown men into destruction and perdition. I completely agree and look forward to leading a much more simple life, working hard with my hands, working side my side with brothers and sisters as we each use our charisms to support one another. I think it's the way God would prefer we live. I also think this is why Pope Francis has been attacking out of control capitalism (and I'm a capitalist but agree with him!)
We will see how great it is Padraig. It is easy to say things now but becomes far different when in the thick of things. Thankfully, we have some great guides out there in the religious who live such simple lives. Here in Kentucky, there are quite a few great examples like the monks who Thomas Merton lived with.
I have found myself watching old reality TV series on Hulu and NatGeo about people being placed voluntarily for months, and up to a year, in 1870's settings. Even on these shows, some nearly lost their lives without modern intervention. One of the unexpected things that brought them down were insects (flies and mosquitoes). Water, food and shelter were the basic challenges, and were not easily handled. Livestock actually made it more difficult due to the need to farm for the hay or grain to feed them. Chickens were easier. Either way, it inspires me to prepare for some of these possibilities.
Nah, just sick of the mess this world is in and seeing people prey upon one another. If it wasn't broke I wouldn't want God to fix it, but brother . . . we're broke!

I have gone around and around about the timing and duration of the tribulation and you are correct, there is no absolute answer. However, we have a significant amount of prophecy that give indications how long it will last. We know the days will be shortened for the elect. We also know that we will have to endure the period of the Antichrist (3.5 years). Many prophecies speak of him alive today. I, as well as others on this forum, believe in the messages Verne Dagenais received, which speak of the period of the great tribulation and in the midst of it comes the Warning. This next part is very significant to me, in that his messages from our Lord speak clearly to the fact that after the Warning there will be only one faith and one church, the Holy Catholic church. Those who do not accept Jesus after the Warning will be under the influence of Satan himself. In other words everyone in the world will either serve God or Satan, no fence sitters remain. Then enters the Antichrist and the great persecution of the faithful remnant. Verne's messages make very clear at this point, after the Warning, the markings of those who chose evil will be upon the forehead or the right hand of those who serve the Antichrist. We also know from scripture and prophecy that this period of the Antichrist and underground Church will be for 3.5 years (unless shortened for the sake of the faithful)> then comes the Lamb of God in the Second Coming to eliminate all those who have chosen to follow the Evil One, as well as the Antichrist and Satan's influence into the depths of hell to make way for the 1000 year reign of His temporal kingdom on earth where His Will shall be done as it is in heaven. The end of this era of the tribulation will be climaxed by the 3 days of darkness. So it would seem that the soonest it could be fulfilled would be 4-6 years depending on when the Warning comes. Now I know there are many other possibilities, but my heart tells me that Verne's messages and the timing of them seem highly probable.
I think, as far as I recall Charlie Johnson thinks just a few years and he is well worth listening to. I always thought around 40 to 50. Though Our Lady always shows herself open to our being converted which would greatly shorten things
The thing I think would make things so much longer is that after the great grace of the Illumination of Concience many people will get worse, not better. But I admit I have a very grim view of the state of the world
