The Church rejecting St Faustina was fine in a way, in that there was time to fix things.

But we are running out of time right now.

  3. Except that on Charlie's piece he seems to insinuate a rather negative point against the visionaries with what I've never seen any evidence of:

When one of the seers started traveling around doing visitations by the Virgin Mary on demand, as it were, I found it very distasteful – and theologically offensive.

Just who does he mean, btw??? Perhaps he doesn't know the very consistent history of when a visionary receives all 10 secrets he/she then no longer receives the daily visions and then have been given at least a yearly one (Mirjana, monthly as well as on her birthday) since they each had grown so very close to Mary during their daily seeing her and talking with her. The rest still have the daily visions and those are what others witness them having wherever they may be invited to go. They certainly do not have any other "visions on demand" by the public. Such misinformation and disregard for the personal reputation or integrity of the visionaries only fuels the negativity of any who may respect his opinion but will then use it to further their own gossip.

    Or.....
I have sometimes found some practices to be more like a patent medicine show than a show of faith there..

Like what exactly??? Frankly, I've found the place to be a real oasis of peace and love for complete strangers. Yes, people may show their great enthusiasm over an individual connected to the history there, but after all, those persons are the ones through whom heaven has given the messages for the world.....God's own choice of vessel, but that's human nature and, as with Padre Pio, he often felt like he was going to be torn apart as the women pulled at him, wanting to touch him, etc., but he dearly loved them all and suffered for them and understood them. And they were the ones who defended him during his own crisis of gossip and got him released from his Church applied "prison" due to lies about him. And just as he did, the visionaries continue to remain patient and loving!

And the rest seems to infer that these "private revelations" are somehow on some equal basis as dogmas or doctrines of the Church. They don't have to be believed or not believed however the ruling goes in the end since they are in the category of private revelations. Certainly those who have experienced true healings of all types, conversions, vocations to the priesthood or religious life, witnessing of the other phenomena and gifts cannot be demanded to violate their own consciences.....that is what would go against Church teaching itself.

Such a piece can, in the end, result in more polarization due to the various straw men presented, when the intention, I would have to believe, was just the opposite.

Yes I noticed this in Charlies blog. It is dangerous sometimes guessing whereanother person is coming from but I wonder if he was referring to what the Holy Father said?

    http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/new...ry-can-distance-people-from-god-says-francis/

'“Curiosity pushes us to want to hear that the Lord is here or over there, or it makes us say, ‘Well, I know a visionary who receives letters from Our Lady, messages from Our Lady,'” the Pope said. But Mary is “not a postmaster of the post office sending out messages every day”.

“The kingdom of God is among us,” he said. “Don’t look for strange things, don’t seek novelties with this worldly curiosity.”'

However the Holy Father did not directly mention Medugorje there. Sooooooooooo

I don't accept that there are appearence sof Our Lady, 'On demand ' , in Medugorje. I might put a little comment on the blog to ask what evedence he has for this... I ama little surprised at this, he is usually very, very balanced.

My guess is he is referring to the talks Ivan used to give, which also included an apparition of our lady. I went to at least 3 of them I believe. Each time our lady appeared to Ivan at 6:35 or 6:40 I believe, which is when he would normally get his daily apparition. So, this might seem like an apparition on demand, but the talks always occur during the time he has his normal apparition, so he is not having additional apparitions as some kind of tour.

His talk is extremely good. It is always the same talk...and the primary subject is the family...which is exactly what is being attacked today. His talk is very uplifting and inspires one to convert. I think it did serve an important purpose for those who for whatever reason, could not physically get to Medjugorje. It also serves as spiritual boost we all need once in a while, a re-charge of the batteries.

I agree with your sentiment, BH, yet they actually add very little authenticity to the discussion. Tell me, what did you find disturbing about Medjugorje when you visited ?

    Good points, Blue.

Never forget that Our Lady ALWAYS defers to the apostolic authority of the local bishop. Our Lady would not want us to disobey the local bishop, even if some "good fruits" were to be had by doing so. The local bishop is always the focal point of any alleged apparition. Our Lady always gives the local bishop a supernatural proof for the authenticity of any apparition - that's how much Our Lady respects to the local bishop.

Right, Padraig. when did Ivan or Maria or Vizka ever say that Our Lady would appear "on demand." ? These critics need to get their basic facts right before chucking hand grenades. Hey, I finish school next week and I am going to Medjugorje with many old friends from my childhood parish. I can't wait. Around 27 of us are going. We are so excited. God is good.

I agree. Either Our Lady is appearing there or she is not. If she is not, then that leaves only two options: hoax or demonic deception. The fact of the matter is this: we don't know if it really is Our Lady appearing at Medjugorje. The local bishop's voice was ignored from day one and the Vatican moved too slowly in rendering judgement leading to the situation we find ourselves in today where so many Catholics are not prepared to to deal with a negative pronouncement from the Vatican. Had the seers been obedient to the local bishop from day one, this situtation would have been avoided. Had the seers at Medjugorje been as obedient as the seers at Garabandal, this situation could have been avoided and the Church would be spared further public scandal.

Wrong again, MF. Gian Luca Barile's reportage is flawed from start to finish. But for some reason, this does not seem to deter your determination to spread erroneous information. That was kind of a polite way of saying #pantsonfire

  14. When were the seers ever NOT obedient to the local bishop?? They abided by each order given. His well known prejudice due to the regional history between the secular and Franciscan priests influenced his actions/public statements which degraded the visionaries personally and thus when he went to Rome with the dossier in hand and with every intention of condemning the whole thing he returned with having the authority over the site taken from him and given to the Vatican!

And guess then that the demons in their current "demonic deceptions" these days are now giving hundreds of quality priestly vocations to the Church....ha!....as spoken to by Cardinal Schoenborn himself about the high percentage of the priestly vocations in his Archdiocese coming from Medjugorje. All of the Church's prerequisites for "good fruits" in order to make proper judgements re: private revelations are fulfilled in the living proofs coming out of this special place. I for one don't wish to be holier than the Church {;-))

  16. I don't know if this is on demand but it looks like it for me:

"The Community of Caritas learned this Medjugorje lesson in an apparition with Marija on August 13, 2003. The Community was on “vacation” with Marija in Florida, and when our founder asked Our Lady through Marija what time She would appear during these days, instead of choosing the normal apparition time, Our Lady smiled and said:

    August 9, 2003

“Because it is your vacation, I will come whenever you pray.”

I lost the site but that was from www.medjugorje.com. Gospa will come to them whenever they pray... uuups.

I have snapshotted this post from "MF" and saved it for the CDF. They are gathering information.

Sanctus I suppose what I am intuiting here is that we all need to move our hearts to a "position" where we no longer have a position that causes us angst or anger when others deny it for whatever reason or motive. We laity shouldn't be flustered or want others held accountable or shamed when finally "proven" mistaken in their positions or criticism...whether that be about an alleged Apparition or an allegedly heretical Pope or Synod. If we are lets humbly recognise maybe its because our love is not yet perfect, not because we are wise and discerning.

Perfect love fear drives out it does.
Much fear on this Forum there is.
