I'm just such a weenie tho', it's hard to remember our confidence must be in our Jesus and not in ourselves.
Thank you Padraig, this forum is a refuge for many.

The pace of change is extraordinary.

And Catholics who hold to church teaching and the catechism are now considered extremists.

The world is in turmoil and headed for auto-destruction.

2015 appears to be the year of the crossover to judgement.

I often feel that I am on my own wee path in life - a little narrow path - a path filled with contemplation and prayer, an inner path of freedom and joy.

And somehow on the 'outside', the world (and time) are just rushing by at brake neck speed like a train headed for disaster.

I feel that I live in a parallel universe from those on that speeding train, and I no longer recognise the world that I grew up in, this generation are like strangers in a crowd, obsessed with their own vanities.

I would not know how to talk to that tattooed man for he is truly a stranger to me and I do not recognise who he is. He does not know himself who he is.

    Dennis,

Thank you for your prayers, prayers right back at you.

I think prayer warriors are meant to be like a wine, getting better as we get older , don't knock yourself

I was watching something on the news last week and it suddenly came to me , how irrelevant in the light of heaven much of this is. Of course it is true always...only heaven is important, our first duty being to save our souls. But nowadays this comes home with even greater force.

All things change and end , only God is Eternal, only in Him is found peace.

We will just have to hold His hand and like a little child walk down the stormy road with Him.

I feel such a sadness for those without love and light and Truth. How terrible to swim into the stormy sea and not aboard the Ark, the Church.

Mother Angelica there quotes the case of St Francis De Sales who became quite convinced by doubts that he was going to hell. He became so overcome he took to his bed for a week.

But finally he said to himself that if God was going to send him to hell well he would just continue to love him on Earth in the time he had left.

I sometimes pray, 'Lord if it is what it takes to save some poor soul from hell; send me there in their place and let them go to heaven. ..

But grant me this, that from the depths of hell I might still love thee. For then though in hell, my hell should become a heaven, knowing that, even in hell one poor damned soul still loves thee and thou might be given the honour of love even amidst the damned'.

As the time draws closer we should expect great miracles and graces.

The supernatural will become the natural.

    Wait and see.

God's only wish is to save the souls He died for, His lost sheep.

Don the brown scapular and pray the rosary daily and then trust and don't worry. God is in control and all are safe under the mantle of Mary.

  15. I was feeling very afraid for many months, with a sense of impending doom and didn't know why, even though I was praying etc as much as ever. One day I felt the Lord saying to pray for love and I started with earnest. Within a short time the fear was gone and I have only peace since TG.

I find myself with a feeling of impatience for what's to come .... Like a prayer almost .... Lord! Please get on with it so we may see more clearly the Path we must take and the duties You expect of US!! My biggest fear is not having enough Faith to do the job asked of me.

CrewDog - you'll have enough faith. In fact, your fear that you won't is proof of that. I'd be more worried if I was convinced I had enough to do the job.

This is just simply a beautiful thread especially the last 3 pages. I have my fears for sure but the only real fear I have is fear of God. I fear disappointing Him, I fear His just judgement of me, I fear that in the midst of the greatest danger or pressure to renounce Him would I? Could I? If someone had a knife to my child's throat and their safety was my renouncing of Jesus what would I do? I know in my heart of hearts that I could never renounce what I have come to know and love so deeply. When I think of all these fears though, I am comforted because these are the only fears we should have. It is quite ok to fear the Father as long as that fear is out of our love and fear for our own salvation. I feared the just hand of my earthly father but that never changed my love for him. We know this from Moses, the Lord, our Blessed Mother and St. Paul, David and countless more examples in the bible:

Deuteronomy 10 [12] And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but that thou fear the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways, and love him, and serve the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:

Mathew 10 [28] And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 1: [50] And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.

Philippians 2: [12] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation. [13] For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will.

Psalm 24 (Douay Rheims): [14] The Lord is a firmament to them that fear him: and his covenant shall be made manifest to them

Proverbs 19: [23] The fear of the Lord is unto life: and he shall abide in fulness without being visited with evil.

In my job as an osteopath I see many tattoos. Very few are religious. Most are morbid, dark and violent. Although I never feel comfortable with them, especially the ones that cover large areas, I do not comment. But I have learned not to judge a book by it's cover and not to hold my standards and ways of thinking over theirs. They are often very sensitive souls. Often their tattoos are signs of love, sometimes of grief and despair often of frustration, anger and rebellion, sometimes a statement of individualism, sometimes just for fun but rarely just an art form. Very very few if any profess to be Christian. In 17 years I have only heard one or two regrets that they were done. Yet it never ceases to amaze me how God brings us Christians and them around to His way of thinking given the smallest of movement towards Him and His ways. His patience and Wisdom is astonishing, Truly the Way of Love.
It's amazing how many of these people without a hint of religion feel that a reckoning is at hand, how many of them recognize that things cannot go on as they are, that things must change. They see it and they feel it. They are moved by love and sometimes hope. They aspire to something better. Just like us.
Today, while looking for times of reconciliation I came upon the parish of St Columba. I thought of writing to our new bishop as I have become aware of how difficult it has become for working people it is to practice their faith, sometimes but not always, because of the shortage of priests and the times of mass and reconciliation that are offered. etc. Often regular times of reconciliation are not offered but only by appointment. I am aware of the message of Garabandal where Our Lady warns that less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. I have never understood why confession is often offered after mass. We need to be in a state of grace BEFORE communion. If the Eucharist was given more importance this would be considered. I also see and know of people who miss Sunday mass regularly without good reason (I know because I have commented that I missed them at mass and they tell me why - usually a social reason or just doing something else)but still go to communion. They do not believe or know it is a mortal sin if done with knowledge and deliberately. I do not judge them. It has just been allowed to slip from the Catholic conscience. Perhaps the Bishop should include this reminder in a pastoral letter.
If a priest who takes care of three parishes is resident in a parish house on a Saturday 30 minutes should be still set aside for regular confession whenever possible or it should be offered for 30 minutes before Sunday mass. Without exception, priests in this country have one day off each week which is more than billions of people have. The priest in Garabandal says four masses on a Sunday starting early in the morning and finishing in the afternoon as he travels through the mountains. He also says four masses on a Saturday plus a mass each working day.
Looking up the address of my Bishop I discovered that his middle name is Marmion. I had never heard this name and on searching it turns out he is one of Ireland's finest men, Blessed Columba Marmion. I am sure you know of him Padraig. His cause for canonization is well under way after the cure of a man suffering from necrotising fasciitis (flesh eating disease) who had been expected to live only a few days. Blessed Columba was born Joseph Aloysius Marmion and my full name is Joseph Gregory Aloysius so it got my attention. He was born on April 1 1858, the year of the appearance of Our Lady of Lourdes. I leave those interested to look him up. Worth a look.
In 1966 Patricia Bitzen of Minnesota. after a double mastectomy, was diagnosed with more cancer in lymph and lungs and given 3 months to live. On advice she traveled to Maresous, Belgium to pray at the tomb of Blessed Marmion. As soon as she touched his tomb she told her husband she felt better. On examination there was no trace of cancer and the article I read today said she lived to a ripe old age. This miracle gave rise to the beatification of Blessed Marmion on Sept 3 2007.
Blessed Marmion was known for, among other things, his writings on Divine Adoption, how we truly become children of God. As a young priest he was chaplain to a woman's prison dealing with hardened criminals. He was able to give them hope for a better life and assured then that even though they were condemned by man they were not condemned by God. Truly a man for the coming Year of Mercy, a man for the marginalized and those covered in tattoos who are often seen in prison. In many ways their tattoos imprison them in the opinion of others, in the condemnation of others.

Your post struck a nerve with me. I really, really, wanted to go to confession the past two weekends. There is a church close by where I could have gone Saturday afternoon, but I was too wiped after work to get cleaned up and to the church on time. At my regular parish, Confession is offered at 5:15 PM, between the Saturday 4PM and 6 PM masses, for 15 minutes. I simply don't bother going there anymore. Although that's supposed to be the scheduled time, there aren't any priests there. Occasionally, one may walk by and ask if I'm waiting for Confession, and that's how I usually get reconciled. But I would be the ONLY person waiting for Confession.

I'm taking matters into my own knees. I'm starting a Novena tonight to St. John Marie Vianney, the Cure de Ars. I'm going to be petitioning him to pray for my priests, to encourage them to desire to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In addition, I'm going to start going to Confession every week, so that people see someone waiting for Confession every week at that time, and maybe encourage them to be reconciled. Additionally, maybe if the priests know there will be someone waiting there, they will be bugged enough to start sitting in the confessional at the scheduled times.

Wish me luck, and say a prayer for me.
