Someone sent me a rather alarming email which I post, for your discernment. It requires discernment for three reasons. It quotes Fr Amoth and Fr Gruner and I have no idea at all whether or not they actually said or wrote what this claims. Secondly it needs discernment in that..as far as I know Fr Nicholas Gruner is under canonical suspension: 'Brooklyn Diocese’s Chancellor, Msgr. Anthony Hernandez, sent a communiqué to all pastors warning about a suspended priest who encourages these devotions and was planning an appearance in Queens. It stated: "Recently, our Diocesan Bishop, the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, received confirmation from the Holy See that the Reverend Nicholas Gruner, who is currently incardinated in the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, in India, continues to labor under the canonical sanction of suspension, cf. Can. 1333, which has been confirmed by the Apostolic Signatura in Rome. ... Please be advised that the Diocese of Brooklyn has consistently rejected the veracity of the claims concerning the alleged Marian apparitions in Bayside, Queens. Recently, Bishop DiMarzio released a statement reaffirming the positions of his two predecessors, Most Reverend Francis J. Mugavero and the Most Reverend Thomas V. Daily. This statement was printed in The Tablet (June 7) and is posted on the diocesan website in order that the faithful of the Diocese of Brooklyn be fully informed of the Church’s decision on this matter. Given that Father Gruner remains suspended, and, given that the alleged Bayside apparitions have been rejected by the legitimate ecclesiastical authorities, the faithful are strongly discouraged from participating in any events connected to Father Gruner or St. Michael’s World Apostolate."[13]' Thirdly even if Fr Amoth did say it we need to discern how valid the message is. I can't help but throw in my two cents worth. Do I think it is true and Father Amorth actually said this? Why yes I do, if I hadn't I would never have posted this. Do I think what he said was true and we're going to hit big time in October? Why yes I do and this being centred on an attack from Russia . There are simply too many indications from other sources to confirm this.

We received the same email. After seeing the video of Father Amorth speaking about how Russia has not been consecrated......I have been weary of believing in those who say it has been done. Now......inin the video we can see Father Amorth saying these things.....but his voice is almost completely dubbed over in English translation. I would LOVE to have some really study the video .....who speaks Italian, to truly verify if Father morth istruy saying it. Also......I will say again.....I don't believe the Sister Lucia who we all saw in late years is the same. Facial structure doesn't change.....in fact with age it can become more prominent. My cousin worked in plastic survey industry for over 10 yrs and she said it is not the same woman at all. I also Recieved a email from my friend and priest which stated that by October of this year the financial system is going to crash and crash world wide. Many many things are pointing to this Fall. Unless we are being duped and victims of disinformation......then I think we are headed for something serious.

I have little doubt that we are now less than 6 months from the Fatima warning that unless people amend their lives the chastisements will take place. Why, because their is little left of true faith today. In the early Church, many thought the end was in their time too. However, they failed to understand that their persecution was the seed of the Church in blossom. We have seen (or read about) the greatness of the Church, its saints, popes and martyrs. What is left? The apostasy (lukewarm Catholics and Protestants) was the last straw so to speak and we are deep into this period. Wars and rumors of war are at an all time global high. Now it is our time and the seeds of the persecution of our era will bring about the era of peace promised at Fatima.

If Father Amorth said it, I believe it. If Father Gruner said it, I believe it. It has been about a year almost two years since I received a message in prayer. The message was, "Ask all priests to say Masses for 24 hours on the Feast of All Souls, November 2nd." After receiving the message, I said, "Why me/ I have no credibility. I'm just an aging, XXXX, XXXX, and no one will listen to me." I told my pastor. Nothing happened except the increase of persecution of Christians and Catholics in ever speeding escalation. Would you all be willing to ask this of your priests?
If the Pope/hierarchy doesn't surprise us with a statement of faith like at the family summit, this event will definitely be crossing that"fine line" that Mark Mallett wrote about.
As Catholics, we are presented with choices all the time. For instance, we can choose to listen to the official statements of the Church regarding Fatima and the Consecration of Russia, or we can choose to listen to questionable voices: these would inlcude a suspended priest (God rest his soul); Father Amorth - or as Mark Shea calls him, "the loose cannon" ( http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markshea/2011/11/fr-gabriele-amorth-loose-canon.html), Mr. Ferrara and Antonio Socci. I find their voices to be highly unreliable, unprofessional and unathoritative regarding Fatima and the Consecration of Russia. Of course, we are all entitled to our opinions but not to our own facts. When it comes to the facts regarding Fatima and the Consecration of Russia, I will have to go with the official statements of the Vatican over the opinioins of the aforementioned individuals. The fact is that the Vatican has stated that the 1984 Consecration was done. The fact is that the Mother of God has stated that the Triumph will come. Pope Benedict, at Fatima in 2010 if I recall, prayed that the Triumph would commence by 2017. How that Triumph will be achieved remains to be seen. Some connect it to the Illumination of Consciences. Some hold that it will come only after the supernatural Sign written about by Saint Faustina in an approved private revelation. Still others contend that the Triumph will only come after the Third Secret reaches fulfillment with a martyred Pope and various nations annihilated. Perhaps it will involve the interplay of all or one of these scenarios. I don't know. What I do know is this: 1. Russia has been Consecrated 2. Russia is now involved in a direct military confrontation with the West (although at this stage only by proxy) - a military confrontation that was initiated by the Western-funded and supported violent coup of the democratically elected President of Ukraine. All the signs are also there that while Russia's Consecration has bore much fruit, the West meanwhile has embraced the errors of Russia as we now have a communist community organizer occupying the highest office of the land, and acting every bit like the marxist, anti-christian tyrant that he is. But I will agree with Father Amorth on one point: time is running out and I believe Pope Benedict's prayer will be answered.
Whether or not (and if so, to what extent) the consecration has occurred (/been accepted by heaven) is an utterly fruitless debate. But I will say that when it comes to matters of discerning private revelations and discerning the Signs of the Times, I'd trust my 11 month old son's opinions over Mark Shae's. Among much other venom, the latter notoriously insists he has a "moral certainty" that Medjugorje is a fraud. [Feel free to discern Medjugorje on your own. But if you come to the conclusion that you are "morally certain" it is fraudulent, then you are obviously the loose cannon, not Fr. Amorth, the Chief Exorcist of Rome]
It is certainly not "venomous" to believe Medjugorje is a fraud. In fact, that would be a highly rational conclusion given that the local Bishop condemned it from almost day one. But this is a topic for another thread. One thing is certain though: one way or the other, Medjugorje is now a closed case. The final report has been issued to the Pope and it is now up to the Pope to issue the final ruling. I know of no reason to think that the Pope is going to overrule the position of the local bishop.
Richard, I have so many issues with Medjugorje but that is within Catholic Church teaching. There is nothing wrong in not believing. If I was part of the Vatican, i would wait till all aparitions have stopped and all visionaries have passed... before i would give a decision. It is very dangerous to say apparition is approved because as long as they keep coming...fraudulent message can hurt the Church. Once they say it is approved any future messages would hold more weight. My personal opinion is that there is a great spiritual battle going on in Medjugorje between God and "the created one". In the end, i think some visions and visionaries will be approved and others will not. A precedent has been set in in Rowanda. Brother al
Yes I was counting the months myself. It was eight months to October since the news letter of the late Fr Gruner was sent. From now to the 13th of October is round about five months, so it is very close. Much, much closer than I thought. Please pray for Father Gruner's soul. I have watched and read him so often it feels like someone I know well, a friend Poor man, he always looked so healthy to me. For me it is not just about believing Father Amorth or Fr Gruner. There is a huge dove tailing of prophecy pointing towards October of this year. Of course we have had many, many, many false alarms and scares in the past, too many to remember. But I think what puts this October apart is that so many prophetic fingers are pointing towards this. Not only this but I think you can see on this forum a sensus fidelium a sense amongst the Catholic faithful , ordinary praying people pointing to this. Even from non Catholics , even unbelievers I think there is a kind of sense of holding our collective breaths.

I have previously involved myself in this debate and it has resulted in me coming to the view that the 1984 Consecration was accepted by heaven although it will only be in the future that it is accomplished as Our Lady wishes, namely with full support of all the bishops of the Church. I do believe that a 'fixation' on this matter of the consecration is harmful. I think Fr Gruner is a good example of this. I believe he was a good man but his total focus on the matter ultimately led to a serious loss of discernment which resulted in him disbelieving in Medjugorje, believing in the Bayside apparitions and moving towards a negative view of Pope Francis. Following Medjugorje is, for me, a sure way to stay faithful to the Lord. The devil will continue to succeed in persuading people that it is fraudulent or partly fraudulent but everyone has access to its history, fruits and visionaries and they are free to make their own choice. It remains to be seen whether Pope Francis will give any further indication of his position on Medjugorje next month when he visits Sarajevo but his recent invitation to a prominent Medjugorje supporter to visit him in the Vatican is already a fairly clear indication of his position - see: http://motheofgod.com/threads/medjugorje-and-pope-francis.7330/
