  5. We continue further with the same day's quote:
    ...
"Even the wildest animals repeat to us:
“See, Oh man, how wild you must be for all that is not God. See, when we see that someone gets close to us, with our roars we strike so much fear, that no one dares to come close to us any more, to disturb our solitude.
You too, when the stench of earthly things - that is, your violent passions – are about to make you muddy and make you fall into the abyss of sins, with the roars of your prayers and by withdrawing from the occasions in which you find yourself, you will be safe from any danger.”

And so with all other beings, such that it would take too long to tell them all; with one voice they resound among themselves, and repeat to us:
“See, Oh man, our Creator has created us for love of you, and we remain all at your service. And you, don’t be so ungrateful – love, we beg you; love, we repeat to you; love our Creator.”

After this, my lovable Jesus told me: “This is all I want: love God and your neighbor for love of Me"

I feel the same. But I "passed" on reading about Luisa for over 20 years, then over a year ago I was suddenly attracted to her writings. I can only assume that "when the student is ready, the teacher appears." I've been listening to the audio lectures of father Robert Young on the Divine Will, and reading the Book of Heaven nearly every day for over a year, and I'm convinced this is THE way to navigate the storm and do all we can to bring about the kingdom of the Divine Will, on earth as it is in heaven. Allowing Jesus to do His will in me has none of the frustrations and failures that marked all the years I tried to do God's will and acquire virtue on my own.

An amazing benefit of living in the Divine Will more and more each day is the fortress of protection it provides from the assaults by the enemy. He despises the Divine Will, and can't bear to come near it. (This is mentioned in Luisa's writings).

Bless you! Please continue reading the writings of the Book of Heaven, and place all your acts in the Holy Divine Will - even the Words of Jesus that you read can be offered back to Him.

  12. "Today I did my meditation on the harm that can come to our souls from the praises that creatures give us. While I was doing the application to myself, to see whether there was in me complacency for human praises, Jesus came close to me and told me:
“When a heart is full of the knowledge of self, the praises of men are like those sea waves that rise and overflow, but never go out of their shore.
In the same way, the human praises yell and shout, they clamor, they get close even to the heart, but in finding it full and well surrounded by the strong walls of the knowledge of self, unable to find a place for themselves, they draw back, causing no harm to one’s soul.
So, this is what you must pay attention to; and the praises and scorns of creatures - take them into no account.”

WOW! Does this strike close to home, or what? In Ignatian spirituality, the uprooting of one's core sin is an integral piece of the puzzle. Mine happens to be vanity, where the opinion and feelings of others tend to pull me away from fully embracing the Will of God. My realization of the fact is a good start, but I'm still having trouble getting to second base.

John 5:44 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

Here's the difference - in the Divine Will Jesus crowds out all those weaknesses and sinful places that you're not able to conquer on your own. There's not room for them anymore1 It's as simple as putting your acts in the divine will in the morning and all through the day, whenever you think of it (Jesus, think in my thinking, work in my working, drive in my driving, pray in my praying, love in my loving, in the center of your will) and giving your fiat to His will whenever your own will tries to wrestle your own preferences in situations that arise during the day.

Because our free will is the greatest gift God has given us, when we hand it over and ask for His will as our dwelling place, it is so pleasing to God He can't resist answering that prayer.

I know it sounds too good to be true, but it really is! It takes my breath away to see what He's done in my soul the past year (after 25 years of failing miserably to root those defects out myself.) He's still got his work cut out for him, but I'm so grateful for what He's done so far.

  15. Yours is a beautiful and humble comment, Mario. Thank you!
I think that the wisdom of Kathy's response suggests a different "second base" from the spirituality the Gift of the Divine Will beyond Ignatian spirituality.

First step is self knowledge, indeed. You are already there, Mario, -and always growing deeper and further into it, with God's Grace.

Then the second base is not "getting rid" of the defect -we are not asked to become perfect by our efforts. That is not in our hand or power, it is God's Gift, never our achievement.

So instead of hiding and letting the feeling of failure take over, we just present our weakness to Jesus, and ourselves with it, accepting ourselves as we are, because God does accept us as we are.
At the same time we beg for the Gift of becoming more like Him, one day at a time.
This is never totally achieved. It is a work in progress.

And we don't take the pulse of where we are in the spiritual Journey. We let that to God and keep walking the path.

We look at Jesus and, as Kathy says, we ask Him to come and be in us. This is what He wants and asks for.

Perfection beyond that is not in our hands but is up to Him.

    Kathy,

What a beautiful image! It reminds me of a passage from Matthew:

12:43 "When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, but he finds none. 44 Then he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and brings with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.

May Jesus fill with His Love what he has cleansed through His Mercy!

Glory to God in the highest!

    WCWTS,

So true. Have you ever read Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard? There is a scene in this beautiful allegory where the heroine, Much Afraid, reaches the altar of sacrifice at the top of the mountain where the Shepherd had called her. The text reads:
She felt nothing but a great stillness in which only one desire remained, to do that which he had told her, simply because he had asked it of her. (Living Books edition, 6th printing, October 1981, p.211)

However, pull as she may, Much Afraid is unable to uproot the human love in her heart. Only the Shepherd, disguised in priestly garb, is able to accomplish for her this ultimate oblation!
It is a marvelous spiritual novel. Try it; you'll like it!:)

Glory to God in the highest!

THE FIRST STEP TO SELF KNOWLEDGE:

I begin, oh Jesus, in You, with You, and for You. I have no trust in myself, but I have faith in You. Without You I can do nothing. May this writing, from beginning to end, be done for your greater glory, for the growth and increase of my love toward You, and for my great confusion. (Vol. 1)

You must be like an infant in swaddling bands who, unable to move by himself, even to walk or move a hand, must rely on its mother for everything. In that way, I want you to remain near Me—like an infant—to always ask for my help and assistance, acknowledging your nothingness and expecting everything from Me.” (Vol. 1)

He gave me other new insights regarding self—annihilation saying, "You are not, and should not consider yourself more than a shadow that quickly passes by and eludes you as you try to catch it. If, therefore, you want to see something in yourself that is worthy of Me, consider yourself nothing; and I, pleased with your true debasement, will pour my All into you." Saying this, my good Jesus impressed on my mind and heart a self—annihilation of such magnitude, that I wanted to hide myself in the deepest abyss. Knowing how impossible it was for me to hide my shame from Him as I continued the destruction of my self-esteem, He would say, "Get closer to Me, lean on my arm. I will support you and give you strength to always work for Me and do all for Me." (Vol. 1)

Luisa: Have You forgotten that I am wicked and that without You I can do no good?
And Jesus sweetly and calmly answered; “I do this so you will understand what you are without Me. Do not despair. I am doing this to you for your greater good, to prepare your heart to receive the new graces I shall bestow upon you. Until this time I have helped you visibly; but now, invisibly, I will make you feel your nothingness with your own hand. (Vol. 1)
