Those who defended (or at least did not query) the comments falsely attributed to the Pope in the Scalfari interview must be feeling a little foolish now. We who queried their adherence to Catholic teaching have been vindicated.
Keeping silent until all the facts are in doesn't make me feel foolish at all. I worry about those who are so quick to believe that the Holy Father is ignorant and/or disobedient to Church teaching. Only by being prayerful, close to the Sacraments and loyal to the Holy Father, as well as distrustful of the media, will we navigate these treacherous times.
