It's a strange thing to consider referring to AI as supreme intelligence, especially when it comes from the leader of the free world. Checking in with the vox populi to see what AI should be more accurate titled. Maybe a distraction or maybe Pandora's box.

For some reason, Trump and Musk seem to want to take control of AI.

Skullduggery of some kind, I’d be inclined to fear.

 

I cannot believe anything other than the creation and use of AI has entirely evil purposes.

To think that the collective of human thought processed through a machine has the intelligence of a god is both self-worship and demonic idolatry.

 

I think the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. We have all of this great tech and yet food is more denatured and costly than ever. Something is out.

 

That viewpoint, as Trump and Musk are expressing-although they might just want the gullible to believe it, lots of money at stake here-would definitely be idolatrous. Soi-distant artificial intelligence is a useful data collection tool. It can be helpful to assist one to make a tax return, for example. But, we used to use accountants for that. And don’t think you’re saving money, because you’re paying more for electricity and some of your pension fund is jeopardised investing in what is sure to blow up. AI is utterly disastrous and unreliable in dealing with abstract and controversial issues-it is hallucinatory (= error-prone) and sycophantic. Trillions are going to be lost over it, I think. This could have an up-side, as much, hopefully most, of the money is being invested by the likes of nVidia, Google, Meta and Amazon. But, they’re trying hard to make it public debt, hence all this alarmism.

 

That makes me uneasy. Especially given what this state is doing in the world.

 

I'm just thinking of the spiritual implications of people going to AI for answers. It is a machine that gleans its "intelligence" from the collective of human thought. How does a machine filtering through and combining human thought rise above that same human intelligence? It can't.

My husband used to play video games. He said a very common theme in video games is that there is some kind of all-knowing consciousness that can be tapped into, that is somehow wiser than everyone and has all the answers for humanity and the world. It's not God...it's some kind of synthesis of all things, where people can tap into it and share its knowledge and power. I also encountered that kind of idea in many of the young adult dystopian novels I found in the library as a teen.

It is a deception from the devil to think that knowledge derived from some kind of collective conscious is superior or even helpful. We should be going to God and the Church for our answers, and to individual people whom God has endowed with intelligence and gifts.

 

I would like it better if the flag were under the protection of Mary's mantle, not wrapping her up in it as her mantle.

 

Equates with my reaction. Our Lady identifies with all nations, but is beyond capture by any one of them.

 

Absolutely. A collective of human consciousness simply implies a larger collection of errors.

Truth can only come from God. Hence Revelation. All else is mere speculation.

It smacks of the heresy of ‘American exceptionalism’. Almost implies that the qualities of this nation supersede those of the Mother of God, who should apparently be thankful to be wrapped in the Stars and Stripes.

 

To me it signifies the love that many of us are needing. I care not what flag it is ,we are all God's children and Mary will hold us and guide us. We should pray for those that we dislike...even countries, not just people. I don't like AI images but on this one, I'll take that hug.

The deception has always been around. Sometimes in the form of tarot cards, palm readers, fortune tellers. It’s just another form of an old deception. It’s new and different so makes it appealing. Or fascinating might be a better word.

 

I did not get that impression since the song America the Beautiful is written in the background. Makes me think of the US under her protection. And we sure do need her!
