Yes. It would be very surprising.
The military is bound to the Constitution and not political leaders. In addition ,the military is under strict civilian control, and US government power is split across three branches. Each of the 50 state governments also has its own national guard which us under control of State. So it would be difficult for a single group to seize control imo.

I think there is more of a remote possibility of the 25th Amendment being invoked but even that is very unlikely.

I guess there was a gunman at the Whitehouse Correspondence dinner tonight where President Trump was in attendance. He shot an officer but the officer is ok. The shooter was quickly apprehended alive.

What a horrible scene. Praise Jesus everyone was protected, it could have been much worse. Watching the many videos posted online, you can see how many heroes sprang into action. Many questions arise regarding the security in that hotel. With over 1,000 guest rooms it was clearly a poor choice for this event. Strange, this was the same hotel that President Reagan was leaving when he was shot.

Trump says that he has access to information that could bring down the papacy - the Vatican files. I have, for a long time, thought as much, in relation with the resignation of Pope Benedict in 2013. The thought of a forced resignation has arisen upon reading "Windswept House" by Fr. Malachi Martin in 2018.
If the resignation of Pope Benedict was indeed forced or coerced, then both popes who came after him may in fact be Antipopes. However, I am in no position to state this with certainty. Hence, I adhere to the SSPX's stance of "recognise and resist".
    God bless!

I would think you would rather base your choices on theological/spiritual grounds rather than allegations which may or may not be true.

There was a Trad commentator I had grown rather fond of recently who condemned St Faustina and Divine Mercy comparing the saint to a paedophile priest.

Another Trad commentatorm a priestm condemns Medugorje as false all the time.

When I see such things it makes me very, very uneasy. By their fruits you shall know them

There are several videos on Youtube of traditional Catholics condeming St Faustina and claiming Divine mercy is of demonic origin.

And a lot of the comments supporting this use the derogatory term novus ordo Catholics as if those who dont attend the TLM are third class Catholics.

What I have noticed about some of these people is that they lack joy and are constantly condemning others I see a Jansenist mind set and it becomes an unattractive dirge.

We live in incredibly difficult times but once you set yourself up as your own personal magisterium and authority this is a dangerous schismatic path of denominationalism.

I am so glad that you and Padraig are addressing this. I am troubled by these wholesale condemnations. We are not required to believe private revelations--even Fatima. But JPII as pope officially approved Divine Mercy and officially introduced the feast into the Church calendar. Jesus told St Peter "he who hears you hears Me" therefore the pope has the authority to do this. Therefore Divine Mercy is in Christ's eyes legitimate. Whatever the trad commentator says.
I think there is a tendency among certain trad Catholics to put aside charity for the Law. Not all. But some. As for Medjugorge several priests I deeply respect have given negative assessments including Fr John Hardon. E. Michael Jones published a book refuting Medjugorge. But there are many priests who found their vocation there. Fr Dan Reehill and Fr Don Calloway among them. God will sort this out so I dont trouble myself about it.

This ‘assassination’ poses far more questions than it answers.

I think it’s a set-up and that the ‘ear’ attempt was one too.

The ‘shooter’ had a picture of himself in an IDF sweatshirt on Instagram, which was taken down.

The White House press secretary (Leavitt) said two hours before the incident ‘that shots were going to be fired tonight’. She was referring to Trump’s speech, but I suspect she was gaslighting people.

Strange how incompetent the assassins are when it comes to targeting politicians, but when it’s a matter of little schoolchildren they can’t miss.

I think the level of evil and deception in positions of high political power in much of the Western World, is off the scale. It’s appalling. I would not believe a word that comes out of their mouths now.

May the Lord God have mercy on us all.

Regarding those comments on Divine Mercy, we never needed mercy so much as we need it now, so the devotion seems particularly, and graciously, timely.

Regarding those who claim to be the ultimate custodians of Tradition, perhaps they ought to consider that one can make an idol of anything, even a Mass.

Endless purity tests are a tool of virtue signallers, and virtue signallers don't exist only on the left. Jesus laid out where virtue signallers are positioned in relation to honest people in the parable of the publican and Pharisee. Their words aren't worth a moment of attention.

Virtue signallers are the very first to judge themselves as being great and everyone else as being lesser. Which is crazy because they throw out the whole bible every time they judge like that. Which is why Jesus gives them such a huge warning in the parable. They think they are first but they're actually last. They are also super divisive people.

Ockham's Razor means that you're probably right. But I also believe in the power of someone having a stupid moment doing stupid things. Especially in crowds and under diabolic influence.

How many times have we seen trucks of peace attacking Christmas markets. Or BLM protesters doing stupid stuff. Politics can make people nuts.

I'm what you may consider a "trad Catholic" and am in a whole parish of them (FSSP), and I see so much love for God and others around me there that I am ashamed of the fear of judgment that kept me away from even trying a TLM for years. There are a few outspoken, judgmental voices that cast a poor light on other Latin-Mass attending, traditionally-leaning Catholics, but just like with almost any group, we have to be careful not to let those few influence our feelings about the rest.

It's easy, also, to forget that harsh and judgmental people need compassion and mercy....just like any other kind of sinner. We are all wounded and deeply-flawed.

I think there’s a fundamental difference between a ‘trad Catholic’ (I think most of us here fall under that description) and a ‘Trad Catholic’, quite a few of this latter group resembling vegans-there’s little chance you won’t know who they are!

A striking comparison by Israel Shamir (in his book, ‘Cabbala of Power’):

Just as the Jews persuaded the Empire of Rome to Crucify Christ for them, so now they enlist the ‘new Rome’, the US Empire to do their dirty work in Palestine. He wrote this over twenty years ago, but history is more closely repeating itself now, as the US is being directed by ‘Israel’ towards the destruction of the Iranian people.

I sadly can't argue with that assessment, though we won't succeed.

    Lord have Mercy!
