This is a well balanced and neutral article on Medjugorie. I must say this action by the CDF appears to be foreshadowing a negative or at best neutral position by the Vatican commission. I am open either way, but I know many people including my own dear wife who will be disappointed if a negative ruling comes out, but like most will accept what the Church rules.

Yes, we will follow the rules of the Church, but we know, in our heart, that Medjugorje is true and nobody can change that. It is Medjugorje that brought me back to the Church with all my heart and I cried of joy.

I will not loose hope in Medjugorje. I am reminded that it took 90 day's and costs 1 million lives in Kibeho before the Vatican approved those messages. How many millions have died as a result of the failure of the Pope and Bishops throughout the world refusing to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary? Yes, the Vatican is slow to respond to everything of importance. I guess they call this prudence.

Nice thoughts, Fatima. I concur. The only caveat I'd add is that it is the Church's duty and responsibility to be very careful in approving apparitions. If the Church did not do so, the apparitions could become cults unto themselves which would create chaos. And then, what would happen if the Church prematurely approved and apparition only to find out it was false later on? Like you, I believe and hope in Medjugorje. I will also obey the Church. After all, apparitions are tangential. It is Faith and belief in Christ and his Church that is important.

  6. It is very disturbing that a site like CATHOLIC NEWS AGENCY is spreading false news. They TOTALLY GOT IT WRONG. They are saying ALL PILGRIMAGES--ALL PEOPLE CANNOT GO TO MEDJUGORJE. That to me is sloppy irresponsible journalism OR diabolical deception--just like all the other media misquoting the Pope etc. I think an apology is in order and a redaction. Its all over FB.

  7. Also, does anyone but me remember that the visionaries (at least one of them) said that Medjugorje would be 'put down' before it is approved? That meaning 'suppressed'?

  10. Medjugorje Today
On a day when critics have declared Medjugorje dead & buried:
MEDIA: VATICAN RULING ONLY EXPECTED TO COME IN 2014

With a final decision expected next year, the Vatican Commission on Medjugorje will have their next meeting in two weeks, a major Italian newspaper reports. Il Messaggero confirms previous leaks saying there is neither evidence for recognizing nor for condemning the apparitions.

I would not loose any sleep about Medugorje, it is far too important in God's plans I believe for Him to permit the devil to bury it. As a matter of fact the present difficulties I take for a good sign not a bad one for it fulfills the Scripture, 'A prophet is never accepted in his own country'.

On the contrary I was concerned in the past that this little Balkan village was being accepted to easily.

However if..and its a big if..the Church gives a thumbs down to this phenomena I will happilly do as the Church says and give the whole thing a pass.

Though in my heart I know the place is true. It was the same thing with Garabandal and the Our Lady of All Nations Apparitions in Amsterdam. The local Bishops bombed them and later on the Diocesan Bishop gave the final thumbs up.:)

The same thing happened in a Carmelite convent in the Phillipines round about the end of the Second World War. The Papal Nuncio put in the boot in in the most fieresome aggressive way, causing the poor nun who saw Our Lady to have to leave Carmel in disgrace. Now the ex nun and her apparitions have been fully rehabilited.

This is Gods, work a wonder in our eyes.

    John 9:30

    The Pharisees Investigate
29"We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where He is from." 30The man answered and said to them, "Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes. 31"We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.…

An interesting article from Dr. Miraville that both St. Pio and St. Faustina were ordered by the Church to not be public about their supernatural encounters. They obeyed but without denying the truth of what was happening to them. And eventually the truth was recognized by the Church. This is a good model for those who believe that the apparitions are supernatural. Obey the Church.

Yes of course Mike. Good counsel and if the Church does give an official thumbs down I know we will all obey.

Actually a funny thing happened to PAdre Pio when the Vatican silenced him back then. One of his folllowers went nuts with anger and wrote a book which he threatened to publish it exposing rotten terrible goings on in the Vatican and the Church at large concerning big time prelates.

When Padre Pio heard of this pious piece of blackmail he lost the head himself and gave his errant disciple the most terrible tongue lashing.

We could do worse than imitate good, wise St Pio

Marti, I was away for the day celebrating. I'm just curious did you write that piece for, 'Medugorje Today'?

    Just wondering.

I also agree that it could be a good sign. But regardless if the apparitions are condemned and if Mirjana announces the secrets and they begin within 10 days it's pretty much approved. I do believe at that point it may not even matter depending on how widespread communications are or how much population is left afterwards. It is gonna be a different world we live in after all these prophecies begin. That is assuming we're still here. ;)

    God Bless!

If the Church did give the thumbs down, I believe the visionaries would be wrong, in fact disobedient to publish them. God will not fight with Himself. It is His Church.

But, come to think of it this is yet another reason Medugorje will not be buried.

We should pray much for this place.

I have said this before, but I want to set out the evidence again that a negative verdict from the Church would create a serious logical problem because of Bishop Carillo Gritti's official approval of the 1994-1998 Itapiranga apparitions, the messages (including the very first) connected with which specifically validate Medjugorje. As a strict logical deduction on the basis of the law of non-contradiction, if the Itapiranga messages are authentic, so must be Medjugorje. Unless you want to indulge in intellectual gymnastics by saying that the Brazilian apparitions are genuine but not the locutions, which is difficult to justify as a position.

If Cardinal Ruini's commission has not yet interviewed Bishop Gritti, Edson Glauber and his mother Maria do Carmo, investigating the full documentation from Itapiranga, it would seem urgent that they do so now before they conclude their work!

I just went back through the Portuguese pdfs available at www.santuariodeitapiranga.com.br and listed the following references. We're not dealing with an isolated occurrence here.
    11.5.94
Nossa Senhora apareceu a minha mãe e mostrou-lhe um
a Igreja repleta de pessoas, aos milhares, tanto por dentro como por fora, e lhe disse:
"Assim quero vocês rezando um dia: como em Medjugorje!"
Our Lady appeared to my mother and showed her a church full of people, in the thousands, both inside and outside, and said to her: "this is how I want to see you praying one day: as in Medjugorje!"

    31.5.96
    fechados.
I am your Mom and I hold you well within my Heart. I have appeared in so many places, but no one listens to me... Medjugorje!... I have appeared [...?] in Medjugorje, but my children continue to be deaf, with their hearts closed.

    8.12.96
    é a mesma dada lá.

Here in Itapiranga I have appeared as the Queen of Peace to show you that the world needs much peace of late. I have presented myself as the Queen of the Rosary and Queen of Peace, because I wish to show you that Itapiranga is in union with my revelations given in Fatima and also with my latest revelations granted by me in Medjugorje, where I have been appearing for a long time. I want to show you that my message given here is the same given there.

Fascinating Peter. I can not see how they can give Medj the thumbs down. Just more apostasy at the top.
