Yay! The big storm moved away from the coast, we were blessed. We have high wind warnings, but only passing snow showers today.
Thank God! He spared us, too. The winds are atrocious. Backlash winds. Going to 5 pm Mass today. Can’t wait. No trash collection here this past week. Our alley is probably inaccessible to the trash truck. At least we didn’t get hit with another storm, right?
Right, the last thing we needed was more snow and ice on top of what we already have. Ugh, no trash pick up is not fun. It is pretty unusual to experience such prolonged frigid temperatures, nothing has melted around here. They are talking about another arctic blast for this weekend.

I'm having fun today. Before my son, Fr. Patrick, left to return to Atlanta, after visiting us for a week at the beginning of the year, he did us (especially me) a favor by stacking the back porch with 4 weeks worth of split wood for the wood stove we use for heating. Well, we were down this morning with only enough to get through today. So while Geralyn was out shopping I spent a half hour shoveling the path to the barn, and then by using a sled, spent an hour conveying a half cord to stack it on the porch and fill the wood box by the stove. Soon I will use my phone to film the whole completed process for all the grandkids (3 families in California, Colorado, and Texas) as a lesson in home economics, since all 3 families (13 grandkids) homeschool. Lots of fun, and they'll enjoy seeing Grandpa! I'll open the door of the stove so they can see the flaming logs at the end of the process!
Brr...Seal hanging out in the very frozen Hyannis Harbor this morning. Not a sight we often see. We are bracing for a frigid blast of Siberian air this weekend.
Yup. More sub-zero temperatures for a couple of days forecasted for here with some snow, but nothing overwhelming. We'll keep the wood-burning stove cranking!
I was wrong in the above. We will have our coldest temperatures of the winter with wind chills 50 degrees below freezing this weekend. Even I shiver at the thought. That will keep a number of the elderly from venturing out for Holy Mass.
My sister informed me that it is coming our way too and recommended that I should go to Saturday evening Mass. I am still planning on getting out to Mass Sunday morning. Prayers for everyone who will be dealing with this continuing subzero weather.
