I thought of that too. A chance to make a good confession. Nothing concentrates the mind like a cancer diagnosis.
I wish people still had the fear of hell. Joe was of that generation were they were still taught to fear hell. I hope that stands by him. Prayers for poor Joe. The thought of any soul ending up in hell is atrocious.
I think I read a few times from different mystics that the very large majority of people who wake up in hell never believed it even existed. I read another mystic who claimed that sometimes even when people die and meet God face to face they still do not believe in Him. They think it is some kind of weird illusion.
