Last night I had hurt myself on the side while camping and so in bed could not sleep on that side. It was very, very painful. On the other side my shoulder was very sore from an old accident, so I could not turn to sleep on that side So I lay on my back staring at the ceiling. I never could fall asleep on my back. But I had an old brass Cross which I bought from a second hand store and held in my hand, kissing from time to time for a few hours. Sleepless. Then I got up, took some pain killers and fell back to sleep. Got up this morning, went to early Mass. Returned home exhausted. Went back to bed. Woke up half dead and went for a long walk with the dog along the beach. Happy as could be. It's all a challenge, but thank God for it. Gives me something to do and pray over.
I am not inclined to fret over these little Crosses. I more worry about things being too easy. These are very, very small things compared to past things.
Just keep going. One foot in front of another. Up the mountain to God. One step at a time. The harder it is, the better you are doing. Never complain or wonder..to be permitted to help carry the Cross is a great, great gift. Luke 14:25-33 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, ...
My husband and I frequently have priests pray over us and our family. The spiritual battle is intense, but we have the grace of God pushing us forward. Self reliance is not the answer. We are up against powers and principalities. Surround yourself with everything the Church has to offer. Praying for you Sanctus. On the other side of darkness, is a bright light and warmth of God.
Going through a lot of darkness and desolation but asking Jesus and Mary for help. Really struggling at the moment I'm not sure why God is permitting all this. I'm sorry for posting about this.
When I was in darkness my Spiritual Director advised me to pray to the Holy Spirit for light. I read a scripture passage recently which gave me great joy. It talks about the Holy Spirit delighting in the company of men.
I am feeling the same way. I feel my back will break with the terrible terrible things that have happenned. I can't even pray today. But I'll pray for you.
Just returned from Mass. The closing hymn was “Hail Holy Queen” with organ accompaniment and choir. It was a total lift. Thanks for the prayers. Yes, the crosses seem heavier now. The Lord Jesus had a shoulder wound. I can understand why.
Thank you. Lifting all of you up in prayer as well. So many are feeling overwhelmed, I am seeing this repeatedly around me. Everyone feeling as though too much is coming at them at once, but we do have that Catholic radar telling us to keep watch and prepare.
