If they can't hold on in Niger, how can Macron think they'll stand a chance against a Russian army that has effectively defeated a 600-700 thousand-strong Ukrainian one? I read today that NATO would struggle to get a 100,000 men into the field, only a fraction of what the Ukraine had at the start and how many of those would be as determined as a traditionally tough Ukrainian army fighting on its own territory? It's as if they're blindly heading to fulfill prophesy.

One of the things I have noticed regarding the downfall of the West has been unbridled greed, and I think this plays a large role which isn't necessarily planned. For example manufacturing was moved over seas, because there was a lot of money to be made auctioning off equipment, but also marking up goods made using slave labor and selling it in the west. This generates false GDP for a few decades. Also, for the last 20 years nothing has been allowed to fail. Everything keeps on getting bailed out because wealthy shareholders don't want to take a hit. During this time schemes were developed to keep the military industrial complex funded by having forever wars. Housing has yet to crash because companies like Black rock keep propping it up because the implications of a housing crash in the economy will be a disaster for shareholders. Now inflation is rising like crazy and no one can afford anything, like having families. So the answer to this has been illegal immigration and robotics. But if no one can afford products, how does the economy keep running. It's always a ridiculous patch job to keep the status quo. So on the one hand it looks like it is planned to make everyone poor, on the other it looks like a bunch of patch jobs to allow those who are parasitical on the economy to keep on being parasites but with no real exit plan. I think they planned on taking over Russia, breaking it up and selling it off to keep their bubble shell game going. But now that this has failed the collapse is happening. But the western leaders will continue doubling down because they still think they are in control, that is until they realize their folly. Which most leaders don't see until the very end, at which point they typically flee as fast as they can with as much as they can.
It's like pharmaceuticals. There is loads of money to be made off of sick people but not healthy people. Roughly 20% of America's GDP is healthcare alone. More people go bankrupt from healthcare than anything else, and 26% of Americans struggle to pay healthcare costs. This kind of GDP is not sustainable nor is it a sign of a healthy nation. There are many many examples of this kind of economic absurdity.
