I think that a key to reunification is the system of pentarchy that was already in force in the early church—possibly, in the future, a hexarchy. Would Moscow accept being "the sixth member of the club" if that meant accepting the Bishop of Rome as first among equals? Regarding the filioque clause, is it possible to divide this doctrine into two periods: before the resurrection and after the resurrection, when Christ, after ascending to the Father, breathed the holy spirit into the apostles, transferring his authority to the church in his apostolic succession?

    John 20

20 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,

7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.

9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Cardinal Burke and Strickland would not necessarily agree about Rome allowing the freedom to criticize. And as for stealing from the communist party, it may not be totally justifiable to call it stealing.

That's a good point, Byron, poor Burke and Strickland... Let's hope that Rome doesn't go so far as to have its critics or opponents arrested and poisoned as happens in Putinist Russia. There is one thing in common between the thinking of Pope Francis and the murderous dictator Vladimir Putin, both seem to somehow confuse communist doctrine with the Christian Faith.

My current dilemma is that, while I agree with your character assessment of Vladimir Putin, his equivalent in the United States or those pulling his strings, appear to me more wicked than him. Bolshevism was and is a horrific evil, but this invention of Gramski and the Frankfurt school of cultural marxism seems to me more insidious and universal that it represents an even greater evil. Bolshevism had to brutally enforce itself, but cultural marxism wins over huge numbers of adherents through miseducation and brainwashing. We seem to be between the devil and the deep blue sea. When one sees peaceful anti-abortion demonstrators jailed for up to eleven years, as happened recently in Tennessee, it is quite evident that cultural marxism is letting its mask slip, now that it has gained almost total control.

Marxism and communism have as their ultimate goal the creation of an earthly paradise through the transformation of economic and social structures, the salvation they seek is an emanent and material salvation in this world. The redemption offered by communism is merely social and economic or, more recently, environmental.

The Christian Faith aims at the salvation of souls, a transcendent and metaphysical salvation, which goes far beyond this visible material reality. The redemption offered by Jesus Christ to each of us is the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation of our souls so that we can go to Heaven after this earthly life.

What is the main focus of the "common home" doctrine? Is it the material salvation of the planet for its inhabitants or the salvation of their souls?

Yes. It is consolidating its control ruthlessly. No question. Putin is not the worst. Not by a long shot. I don't trust him or the Russians but I trust our current so called leaders even less. Who are the oligarchs pulling the strings behind Biden's sham of a government? The faceless dictators. " Inquiring minds want to know".

My interpretation of the 'common home' mentality is that it is about the material salvation of the planet minus the human race. The most influential proponents of the ideology consider humanity a destructive parasite upon the rest of the Earth and advocate the elimination of the human race. Alas, none of them lead by example.

Indeed. We know Putin and what he is about. We don't even know who are pulling Biden's strings...although we can make a good guess. We can't even guess who is pulling the strings of the Biden string-pullers, but the devil is pulling the strings of them all.

My humble opinion is that this conflict was artificially created in order to later break Russia into small states through Ukraine, either through proxy wars or in some other form. The main goal was resources, because Russia is worth 80 trillion dollars. No one is even close, the US has twice the value of all resources...

However, according to the apparition in Fatima, it seems that Our Lady and God have Russia in some big plan for the future that is unfolding now. in this context, I think that Russia cannot lose the war. I've been thinking that ever since their involvement in the war in Syria, and now through Ukraine.

This is not the first time...Let's say, the Jews were supposed to be a nation of priests and introduce people to God, but they failed God. So that plan was given to Christians so that they would spread faith in God and eventually bring the Jews to that tree.

Communism spread through Russia to all nations in any form, I don't mean only the original one, but also this cultural Marxism, or rather, Russia was the starting point. It is possible that God has now reversed the roles and that Russia, which spread communism, will through some role of God be a punishment or a way for other nations to return to God.

    Anyway,
the west has become ungodly, punishment will come in some form that is clear to everyone unless some miracle of conversion happens...

We can have some idea of how many Communists there are in Russia. The Communists are the second largest party and I think they get maybe 20 percent of the vote. There are probably as many or more Communists in Western Europe. We know that Russia will be converted. We don't know when that will happen. The way things are going, Europe and the US will be so far down the road to Hell that Heaven will take pity on us and send the Russians to save us. I seriously doubt that Putin will be the leader of a converted Russia.

Putin is very clever. I suspect that he knows a lot more about America than Americams know about Russia. He was pitching his message to the WASP faction in the Republican party. I notice undertones (and sometimes clear tones) of anti-Catholic bias among his most ardent supporters. Catholic Poland is a convenient whipping boy. Putin knows that he's on a winner extolling Orthodox Christianity to anti-Catholic WASPS.

I'm sure, too, that Putin has back channel communication with the Americans. There's a strong Jewish presence in Russia and no doubt they are in contact with AIPAC who are far more powerful than any single American politician. Putin and Netanyahu had very friendly relations which seems to have cooled off lately, so he might need to use a different intermediary than Bibi. HAMAS still have one Russian hostage. (HAMAS are equal opportunity terrorists, or well armed militia depending on where you're at). Freeing HAMAS hostages would be a good cover for dialogue about Ukraine.

Some of Judge Napolitano's guests pointed out that Putin never mentioned Obama despite the Maidan coup happening during Obama's presidency Maybe he has an eye to the future and reckons that Michele Obama could be in with a shout at the US presidency?

I would answer that it's the salvation of the planet. Imo, a Christian who truly tries to live his/her faith understands that mankind is steward over God's creation, so therefore already knows there's a duty to take good care of God's gifts, while also seeing to his/her own salvation. This "common home" baloney comes across, at least to me, as chastising the wrong "crowd".

Not at all, unless the focus on the salvation of the planet replaces that of the salvation of souls, and that's what's happening and it's called "diabolical disorientation". Saying that we shouldn't give too much importance to the 6th Commandment and encouraging adulterers to take communion or blessing pairs of sodomite fornicators, but then vehemently condemning capitalism and the grave sin of emitting carbon into the atmosphere... For the grave sins of the flesh, "Who am I to judge", they are even blessed by the Church, but that's ok to judge who emits carbon into the atmosphere. Pure distraction diabolical!

None of that makes Pope Francis a Communist. Anglican maybe but not Communist.

I think that he may be misinformed about man made climate change. If so, that wouldn't make him a communist. It would simply make him mistaken. I posted a link on another thread about the meeting between Theodor Herzl and Pope Pius X. At that meeting, when the Pope rejected Herzl's request for support of a Zionist state, he said that we can and do work with the Jews where we have a common goal (I'm paraphrasing the Pope because I'm too lazy to get the exact quote). If it was ok for Pope Pius X to work with Jewish philanthropists for the common good, why wouldn't it be ok for Pope Francis to work with non-believers for the common good?

I didn't say that Pope Francis is a communist! I don't know if he is or not. What I said is that he confuses the Catholic Faith with communist doctrine, in the sense that he mixes elements of one with the other as if they were the same thing. This is falsifying the Christian Faith, as with Liberation Theology. Previous Popes were very clear in separating the two antagonistic things because Christian faith is holy while communism is evil. I even compared him to the murderous dictator Vladimir Putin who also considers himself a Christian and defender of Christian culture but does not reject communism, for him Christian teachings and socialist ideals are basically the same thing. They are both wrong.

What is your definition of the "common good"? That phrase is very subjective.

"The term "common good" has been used in many disparate ways and escapes a single definition. Most philosophical conceptions of the common good fall into one of two families: substantive and procedural. According to substantive conceptions, the common good is that which is shared by and beneficial to all or most members of a given community: particular substantive conceptions will specify precisely what factors or values are beneficial and shared. According to procedural formulations, by contrast, the common good consists of the outcome that is achieved through collective participation in the formation of a shared will. It is when one another respects others' dignity and rights."
