I was really amazed at reading for Sunday Mass given what is going on in Israel right now. Let me now sing of my friend, my friend's song concerning his vineyard. My friend had a vineyard on a fertile hillside; he spaded it, cleared it of stones, and planted the choicest vines; within it he built a watchtower, and hewed out a wine press. Then he looked for the crop of grapes, but what it yielded was wild grapes. Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard: What more was there to do for my vineyard that I had not done? Why, when I looked for the crop of grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes? Now, I will let you know what I mean to do with my vineyard: take away its hedge, give it to grazing, break through its wall, let it be trampled! Yes, I will make it a ruin: it shall not be pruned or hoed, but overgrown with thorns and briers; I will command the clouds not to send rain upon it. The vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah are his cherished plant; he looked for judgment, but see, bloodshed! for justice, but hark, the outcry! Responsorial Psalm Ps 80:9, 12, 13-14, 15-16, 19-20 R. (Is 5:7a) The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. A vine from Egypt you transplanted; you drove away the nations and planted it. It put forth its foliage to the Sea, its shoots as far as the River. R. The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. Why have you broken down its walls, so that every passer-by plucks its fruit, The boar from the forest lays it waste, and the beasts of the field feed upon it? R. The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. Once again, O LORD of hosts, look down from heaven, and see; take care of this vine, and protect what your right hand has planted, the son of man whom you yourself made strong. R. The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. Then we will no more withdraw from you; give us new life, and we will call upon your name. O LORD, God of hosts, restore us; if your face shine upon us, then we shall be saved. R. The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel.
The first reading and gospel are so connected aren’t they? Israel rejected Jesus and in fact killed him. So yes, the vineyard is now the Catholic Church. And sone day perhaps very soon given what is happening the Jewish people will renter the vineyard (promised land) tgat God gave them in His covenant which can never be broken.
The Church is producing so many wild grapes, is Our Lord going to 'let it be trampled', and 'overgrown with thorns and briars'?

I hope I am wrong. But I was listening to a lady, a member of the Knesset on the BBC there now. She let the cat out of the bag she was so angry. Israel blames Iran for what is happening and seems to be getting ready to have a big go at them. It's like watching the he dominos of war all fall down. More and more countries getting involved. Iran of course is now a key ally of Russia and Israel of the USA.
I thought this very thing at Mass last night. I found the readings a bit chilling considering where we are at. It seems the " tenants" of the Vineyard are about to crucify the Mystical Body of Christ in effect with these horrifying changes.
Can Israel be considered as "in the East"? There was this line in the seer Jennifer's Oct 4th message: My children, the signs are coming from the East and great fire will fall from the sky. When you hear the horses being summoned from heaven know that the hand of justice is coming upon the world that is harboring the pains of labor.
Apparently, there was an attack by 800 Israeli settler types upon the Al-Aqsa mosque, the third most venerated in all of Islam, two days before the Hamas assault. If so, this was a grave provocation and sufficient in itself to provoke a reaction from these volatile people. This might imply that Israel is dancing to the Biden tune, a very ominous and unpredictable step. The Saudis recently signed a treaty with Iran, so this could develop very chaotically. I recently read an intriguing report that the US nuclear arsenal, which has been neglected for decades, is replete with depleted plutonium. Ironically, depleted plutonium becomes an element called americium. God is going to have the last laugh.
There has been so much speculation on social media about Israel’s intel and security failures, they have the best in the world, cameras everywhere at the border. The terrorists sailed in on motorized paragliders, some by land and sea, and successfully penetrated the Iron Dome. It’s all so strange. The videos and images coming out of Israel are horrific, unspeakable suffering.
Yes. It's all very odd. They are practically a superpower in the region. Inside job anyone? https://www.youtube.com/live/TjrAhnxA8Ko?si=3DN35-pElrbbSryK
A postscript to my comment about the degraded nuclear weapons, may we hope that if the worst comes to the worst and mutually assured destruction is launched, the bloody things refuse to go off?!
Can you please explain Catholic teaching about the Jews? I know they were the 1st Christians but I don't know what you mean by their covenant with God that can never be broken.
