I have read some of Pedros prophecies...perhaps its the translation...which really shouldn't be a problem. The messages are obscure, opaque and generalized. How many of these reported prophecies have come true. I mean...even I...who is not a prophet can say...." in the Land of the Eagle (USA) a strong wind will blow and you will hear crying" Well...is that the tornado that happened in OK or is it something else. Point being...if a prophecy is so obscure...so opaque...so generalized...what good is it?

If you hear Pedro Regis say: "Madeira island will be devastated" and, a month later, it actually comes to fruiton and you live trough the event, then you just have to give credit to these apparitions. That was what happened in my case. What amazes me in these messages are preciselly the absence of ambiguity. Places are pointed by name and events clearly defined. Luke 9:62 Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." It suddenly hit me the other day very forcefully that we are in a spiritual battle, the end of which is that we go at the end of things either to heaven or hell. Either the angels come to carry us off to heaven or the demons to drag us off to hell. So long as life goes on we all of us have a choice right to our last breath of which way we choose. I have met many souls, including priests who having chosen God and choosing Him with great firmness have later left the path of love and taken another very different path. I remember one especially. His name was Jim and he was a 'Born again Christian I worked with when I was about 20 yeas old. I myself had lost my faith but Jim was full of it. Very joyful and energetic he took me to his own little house Church full of vim and vigour young people, laughing and singing. About 30 years later I met Jim again having rediscovered my own faith but he seemed sad and faded. I thanked him for his faith which had been a nudge to me when I lost my own. He sadly told me he had lost his own and now did not believe in God. When I told him I had refound my own he seemed uncomfortable and seemed to want to get away from me quickly. But meeting Jim reminded me of the uncertainties of life, not to take the grace of Faith for granted. I think it was Archbishop Fulton Sheen who said that our first duty in life is to save our souls.....This may sound selfish , but its true. For in saving ourselves we are sure to save many others including our own family by our faith and final perserverance. Jesus, Mary and Joseph I give you my heart and my soul. That is powerful Padraig. That scripture is one I don't think I've ever paid attention to. I need that, as we all do. I was 'sucking up my pride' again today when someone was making fun of me being 'soooooo religious'. I cringe because I fail so much and am such a slacker! I have no idea when to much is to much, but I do know when I do too little... My son who is 15 today was preaching to me about being more strict with my 13 yr. old daughter and having her wear shorts that are half way to her knees instead of a little shorter and on and on...and I was telling him that she was really trying to be modest and sometimes the styles are hard to find etc...then he asked to get out of the car about a mile from home so he could pray his rosary and then run the rest of the way home. I cried the rest of the way home in thanksgiving for giving me such a virtuous child...God is so good to me ...I pray for a pure heart for him and his discernment for the priesthood. He really wants to be a priest, but the battle has begun in earnest for his soul--he knows it too. Its as if all the women of the world have come out on the billboards, on the computers on the magazines and live and in person half naked and begging him for his soul...akkkk!

I would like to see if someone has, or can, itemize some of the specific prophecies and track fulfillment or non-fulfillment (such as in these reported apparitions). On a related note, I know there a many people on this forum who are strong believers in Medjugorje. I have never investigated any specifics of those reported apparitions, and I don't feel called to do it, but it would be interesting if any specifics can be itemized and tracked in the same way. I keep paying tangential attention to these monthly Medjugorje messages that are posted here, and though many are finding profound beauty in the messages, I don't recall seeing any recent messages that were anything but generalizations. Does anyone have specifics that are prophecies that can be tested?
there has never been any prophecy coming out of Medj other than there are 10 secrets for the world that will be pre-announced 3 days before they happen. In terms of judging it, I think we need to go more by the fruits, such as conversion, confession, etc. In terms of the messages, yes they may be less exciting than prophecy coming out of some other seers, but I believe the purpose of Medj is to call people back to God, convert, and learn how to convert via the 5 stones (prayer, confession, etc.). The message themes may be general or even a little boring to someone who is already converted and strong in their faith. But again I think the Medj "target audience" if you will are the people far away from their faith and God, the message themes are probably spot on. It is a gentle calling back out of love, as opposed to a shocking/anxious calling back that an apparition full of disturbing prophecy will give you. I can personally attest to the fact that Medj was enough to wake me up from my slumber and guide me on the road to conversion. The 10 secrets in the back of my mind served as more motivation, which I sometimes needed when I got lazy. The continual messages help me to stay focused, and the ones on the 2nd of the month are a bit more urgent than the ones on the 25th. As well, I needed the 5 stones to re-learn my faith and the interest to research my faith more. Most people's faith are poorly formed these days, so Mary's school of prayer at Medj was crucial for me. I hope the findings of the Medj commission are published soon to give people guidance. But at the end of the day, Medj will be proven true or false via the 10 secrets. But it is stressed by all the Medj visionaries to not wait for the 10 secrets, as we are in a time of grace, and that time of grace has an end-point. So, we need to be converting now.
Yes I think you are right and your post very insightful Cathy. Its a bit like gardening. At the start and when they are seeds you have to pay them special help to get them underway. I think this is the special role of Mary as a Mother. To save her little children from going down the wrong road to hell. She nutures them and guides them on. Prophecy is not a whole lot of use if people do not even practise the basics of the faith. She must teach them to 'eat' to pray first before filling them with the stronger meat of Prophecy. In a sense then Medugorje is a, 'Creche'. A specific place folks can come to learn to walk on their own two feet. Mary has also established 'Creches' just like it all over the world, in places like Betania, Akita, Garabandal and so on.... To give prophecy now would be to give a child a sirloin steak when it can barely drink its Mothers milk!! But the sirloin steak is, has she has indicated in the pan and set to be served. I do the same with my dogs. I get them as pups and treat them as well as I can for the first year or so, then they are set for life. It bears mentioning though at different places Mary comes under different titles. She does so for a reason. In Mediuorje more time was and still is available. In other places..such as Kibeho in Rwanda less time was available and the 'kids' had to be started off with stronger meat right from the offset. So I think it is good to always pay attention to the urgency of the messages. Mary knows how much time we have in a particular region of the world. We don't.
So too when Mary comes from heaven she does so under differing, 'Family names' or titles which we should pay close attention to. Noticeably..as in Medugorje under the title of Our Lady, 'Queen of Paace'. This is no accident either and indicates a particular urgency or need. This indication , it seems to me is of the great danger of war(s) particularly in this area. But not only in this area but for the whole world. In this present case I believe Mary is warning of the danger of the use of nuclear weapons, in the Balkans, in Russia and in Eastern Europe, but for the whole world too. However if Mary was to come right out and say this it would prove a distraction. As I say too strong a meat too soon for infants.

You know Cathy I was praying for you this morning in front of the Shrine Of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in Clonard Monastery at mass this morning. I was complaining to Mary that your prayers, everyone else's prayers and my own for an improvement to your material circumstances seemed to be falling on deaf ears. But Our Lady indicated your post this morning and said I should consider your great great spiritual progress in wisdom and grace. She said that if things had been otherwise and your/our prayers had been answered in the way we would have wished this inner progress would not have taken place; that the spiritual seeds f grace , planted in your soul needed the environment it had to flourish and that: Isaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. I was touched by this and thought I would share this with you. Padre Pio had two sextons , both of them blind. Each of them asked Padre Pio that they should be cured. Padre Pio told them, quite simply that they had a choice, they could see and go to hell or that they could be blind and go to heaven. They both choose to stay blind. It seems to me, from what Mary said is that God has arranged the personal circumstances of your life to lead you in the ways of great holiness. A kind of material hot house. So that grace in your heart can thrive. Your prayers, my prayers , everyone's prayer ARE being heard. But in the way God chooses, not us. God is so good, but such a mystery. I'm glad you shared that Padraig. Around 7 or 8 years ago I was praying fervently for something, and it always seemed that just when the answer to my prayers was on the horizon it would be thwarted. It was incredibly frustrating as this situation went on for a good 3-4 years but in the meantime I was being taken on a much deeper journey of spiritual growth. Looking back, I can see now how if my prayers had been answered in the particular way I wanted them to be at that time, this growth would not have been possible and in all probability I would have ended up in a very precarious situation with regard to my faith. Sometimes the grace is in being able to see and understand why some prayers don't appear to be answered.

wow Padraig, I'm not even sure what to say! First off, thank you for continuing to pray for me...you are so generous with your prayers! I'm pretty floored by what you received in prayer too. In a way, it does validate my thoughts that this cross is not so much about the state of my resume, but about spiritual growth toward total abandoned trust in God. What floors me is the progress I seem to have made. To be honest, I haven't thought about how I'm doing, but just focus on surviving the day and offering all of my sufferings up to God...well, Mary since the consecration where I know my offering will be enhanced by her and put to good use. Thank you for sharing what you received in prayer...it does make me feel better! My advice to anyone reading this is if you feel the Lord is asking you to change parts of your life in any way and you feel the call to serious conversion...please comply! Don't be like me...who was so resistant to change, stubborn, and attached to "my way" (self will) vs. what God wanted me to do. What I am experiencing is incredibly difficult and the hard way to convert. It doesn't have to be this way if you take God's requests seriously and cooperate with grace. I am finally doing that. The consecration helped a tremendous amount...so I recommend other people consider doing it if you have not. I think I've made more spiritual progress in the past 2 months than in the previous 2 years. All glory to Mary and God for that!! Thank you to this forum for your prayers. Can you imagine how much harder this would have been for me without your prayers Of course, I pray I reach the spiritual level God wants me at soon...so he can re-arrange my life in a different way soon. What is striking is that once more there is a close correspondence between PR's messages and various other sources (Locutions to the World, Luz de Maria...) in what is being said about the Papacy, internal tensions and betrayal. Which would be consistent with the idea that what is currently being played out is a re-run of Holy Week as the Body of Christ goes through the same process as its Head. However, I'm aware that opinion is divided over the authenticity or otherwise of Pedro Regis - and logically of those visionaries whose messages are either identical to his (Luz) or explicitly approve him (Agustin del Divino Corazon), so I transmit these 'for your discernment', as always. I don't follow these messages per say, but Betrayal will come to the throne of Peter. The Holy Father will experience calvary. In prayer lately, in the first sorrowful mystery, one piece of scripture has been literaly jumping out at me, really striking my heart full force. "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand when the Son of Man is to be handed over to sinners. Get up, let us go. Look, my betrayer is at hand".
Reading these messages made me wonder if our Papa Francis is trying to prepare us for a new direction. Sounds like he's saying "Strap on your seatbelts!" in his homily at Mass this morning: The Pope’s homily centered around Jesus’ words in the Gospel of the day, (MT 5:17) " Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets." He said this Gospel passage which follows the Beatitudes is "an expression of the new law" which is more demanding than that of Moses. This law, the Pope added, is "the fruit of the Covenant" and cannot be understood without it. "This Alliance, this law is sacred because it brought the people to God." Pope Francis likened the "maturity of this law" to a " bursting bud that reveals a flower." Jesus "is the expression of the maturity of the law". The Pope noted that Paul speaks of two times "without breaking continuity" between the law of history and the law of the Spirit: "The hour of the law’s fulfillment, is when the law reaches its maturity when it becomes the law of the Spirit. Moving forward on this road is somewhat risky, but it is the only road to maturity, to leave behind the times in which we are not mature. Part of the law’s journey to maturity, which comes with preaching Jesus, always involves fear; fear of the freedom that the Spirit gives us. The law of the Spirit makes us free! This freedom frightens us a little, because we are afraid we will confuse the freedom of the Spirit with human freedom. " Pope Francis continued, the law of the Spirit, "takes us on a path of continuous discernment to do the will of God” and this can frighten us. The Pope warned that this fear "brings two temptations with it."
