As for me, to finally come to a strong belief that this pope is way too soft on Abortion and Active Homosexuality / LGBTQ-ism, Etc ?

I see "wrong" as being an allowable Discernment of Sin - rather than Judgementally promoting the notion that yes Francis is Doomed to Hell.

One Spiritual Work of Mercy is: Admonishing the Sinner!

Ergo, we are obviously able to see Sin when it's there within another..

Uzbekistan has announced a month-long state of emergency in an autonomous republic where rare protests forced President Shavkat Mirziyoyev into a reversal on certain constitutional reforms.

President Mirziyoyev’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov wrote on Telegram on Saturday that the state of emergency in the Republic of Karakalpakstan would run from just after midnight on Sunday (19:00 GMT Saturday) to August 2.

The measure was being taken to “ensure the safety of citizens, protect their rights and freedoms (and) restore law and order” in the territory, the statement added.

    >Uzbekistan’s president had arrived in Karakalpakstan on Saturday and promised that proposed constitutional amendments that would have weakened the territory’s status would be scrapped.

A rally on Friday was called to protest constitutional reform plans that would have changed the status of Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic that is home to the Karakalpak people – an ethnic minority group with its own language, Uzbek authorities said.

Police dispersed the protesters after some tried to storm local government buildings in the region’s capital, Nukus, following a march and a rally at the city’s central market, local and government officials said.

Under the current Uzbek constitution, Karakalpakstan is described as a sovereign republic within Uzbekistan and has the right to secede by holding a referendum.

The new version of the constitution – on which Uzbekistan plans to hold a public vote in the coming months – would no longer mention Karakalpakstan’s sovereignty or right for secession.

But in a swift reaction to the protest, Mirziyoyev said on Saturday during a visit to Karakalpakstan that the changes regarding its status must be dropped from the proposed reform, his office said in a statement.

Karakalpakstan’s government said in a statement earlier on Saturday that police had detained the leaders of Friday’s protest, and several other protesters who had put up resistance.

A joint statement by the republic’s police, parliament and cabinet said that “provocateurs” had attempted “to seize state institutions … split the society and destabilise the socio-political situation in Uzbekistan”.

“A group of organisers of mass riots and people who actively resisted law enforcement agencies have been detained. Investigative actions are underway against them,” the statement said, blaming the unrest on a “criminal group”.

The changes concerning Karakalpakstan were part of a broader constitutional reform proposed by Mirziyoyev, which also includes strengthening civil rights and extending the presidential term to seven years from five.

If the reform is endorsed in the planned referendum, it would reset Mirziyoyev’s term count and allow him to run for two more terms.

From Father Z's blog, a quotation from uber-feminist Naomi Wolf:

Let us pray for Naomi's continued conversion.

I remember reading a library book of her's from several decades ago. Whatever her case, she was at least rational.

Been away from this thread for a few days and just encountered this. These growing abominations aren't, in my view, emerging because these people are naive, stupid or harmless. They know exactly what they're doing and it is coordinated, systematic and running in accordance with a deliberate time-table.

When two people from such opposite ends of the ideological spectrum as Archbishop Vigano, whatever his failings, and Naomi Wolf are both nearing the same metaphysical conclusions, I think it's time to pay heed.

I introduced the Sri Lanka issue to the global warming thread on our local blog. The (rare) local Green sympathisers washed their hands of it and laid all the blame on the responsible Prime Minister. I think there was no reply to my pointing out that politicians usually engage in radical economic programmes on the receipt of 'expert' advice.

Of course, these are only poor Third World people, the ones that the privileged Green Movement, in my opinion, intend to liquidate in their billions in order to save the planet (for themselves).

Globalism seems to be dying, despite the boost for Amazon provided by Covid. I remember Madonna announcing at one of her concerts (whatever it should have had to do with her) a few years ago: "Think Globalism". Bob Dylan happened to be playing the same venue the following night and this man of few words to his audiences muttered something about Madonna's statement, then boldly declared: "Unthink it". The classier act seems to have had the right of it.

I am aware of quite a few very moral Mormons on the internet. Maybe it's appropriate that the locusts are Mormon.

It just dawned on me that Padraig recently commented on the importance for the Church of the conversion of the Jews and that Naomi Wolf is Jewish. Now, I might be completely wrong but her comments on the demonic influences on our present world seem semblant of St. Paul.

Agrese. I will pray for Naomi's conversion. The veil is lifting for those willing to see. What we are experiencing is diabolical, there can be no other explanation. The only way through this storm is prayer, conversion, and God's Mercy.

  15. Pro-abortion Jewish organizations agree with Satanic Temple claim that “abortion ritual” represents “religious freedom”

    https://www.naturalnews.com/2022-07-05-jewish-groups-satanic-temple-abortion-religious-freedom.html

More than 140 Jewish organizations, along with the Satanic Temple of New York City, are now claiming that getting an abortion is a form of “religious freedom” that is constitutionally protected and cannot be overruled by legislators or the courts. On May 17, an event sponsored by “Jewish Rally for Abortion Justice” and supported by the Anti-Defamation League, publicly affirmed that “abortion access is a Jewish value” and that “banning abortions is a religious freedom issue.”

One day the Jews would realize that abortion is indeed evil, this could hasten their conversion to Christianity...

What needs to be considered is that while "Freedom of Religion" (i.e., the right to believe what you will and the freedom to act on those beliefs) is guaranteed in the US Constitution, American courts have ruled that religious practice can be regulated to provide for the safety and security of the community. Two examples:
    1. Islamic law requires a body to be buried before sunset on the day the person died. US Courts, however, have ruled that if the death is suspicious, the body can be held until all the necessary tests have been completed, even if that means releasing the body to be buried after sunset on the day of death. This is because the safety of the community in determining if a murder occurred outweighed the religious requirement of burial.
    2. Mormonism permits polygamy. In fact, some sources indicate Joseph Smith REQUIRED the leaders of his church to take extra wives to serve as examples. Yet when Utah had created a proposed state constitution and sent it with its petition to be admitted as a state to the Union, this constitution was rejected and the petition denied until the State of Utah prohibited polygamy in its constitution. Even though its founder had stated polygamy was permitted/required by god, the Mormon Church complied and now polygamy is prohibited in Utah. Congress determined that the safety and stability of the community and the nation were better served by enforcing monogamy than by permitting this religious practice.
Using these two precedents, if this issue came before the court, the Supreme Court could rule that the unborn child at ANY age of gestation is a human being; and that "sacrament" or not, under the Constitution a human person cannot be killed unless their actions show the community is safer by the death of that person.

NOTE: the 18th Amendment to the US Constitution prohibited the production, sale, and distribution of any alcoholic beverage. However, the Roman Catholic Church, because it needed wine for its liturgies, was instrumental in getting "sacramental wine" removed from this ban. The end result was that many priests became bootleggers(!) in that for some reason, the amount of wine purchased for liturgical use far outweighed the amount needed at Mass, especially considering that the laity did not rec'v consecrated wine. Another result was that many wineries that had been in business before prohibition were able to survive and thrive during this time. Some wineries were able to sell wine for home use, others turned their grapes into raisins, while others simply sold their grapes straight to consumers. You can read more about it here:
