True Brian. Totally agree. Today I made an hour of adoration. No fireworks. Just a sense of peace. I don't want to lose that.
Yes, in the clip they generally agree that the weak link in Pope Francis' directives is that he invites, but doesn't order the bishops' participation. However, Marshall and Matt are generally pleased, mentioning that out of the 4 times she wrote out the instructions, one time she used "invite" instead of "order." The other bases are covered. We must continue to pray and if we haven't yet, fulfill the laity's end of the bargain: the 5 First Saturdays!
Is it because Fatima is part of private revelation which Catholics includng Bishops are not obliged to believe therefore he can only invite, not ordet
That issue is covered well in the clip posted in post #257. Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
Let me just say that I really have no idea what will happen Friday or in the near future from there. I’ve heard everything from a nuclear war to the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and everything in between. I hope for (but not necessary expect), somehow, very good things to come from it, with so many people praying and with the prayers offered to heaven through Our Lady, whether or not they meet the requirements Our Lady of Fatima specified, which I am agnostic about. It’s truly a “let’s just wait and see what happens” kind of day, at least for me. I am not one who believes a nuclear war will be the result of the consecration if it is indeed a false one. I was responding to the ideas of some on this forum and many others who believe that that could/will happen. Actually, I’m not sure that anybody here thinks this could happen *as a result of a false consecration*. But there are some who do. If the “consecration” has no effect, the war escalates and other countries become involved (especially the U.S.), that might well happen, but not as a result of the “consecration”. At least I hope not. It should be obvious that after practically 100 years of failed attempts by multiple popes, heaven expects and requires Our Lady’s instructions to be followed precisely. I don’t know that they will be. It seems that heaven wants the conversation of Russia to be seen in the eyes of the world as a direct result of being perfectly obedient to the design of God. If it were not so, why was the 1984 consecration not fully accepted by heaven? I mean, the entire world was consecrated by the pope in union with the bishops to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Russia is part of the world, right? So much the better if along with Russia, all the rest of the countries of the world and all the peoples of the world are consecrated. But that’s not how heaven saw it. It’s thinking “as man and not as God”. I think God is usually very lenient concerning the prayers and acts of man performed with good intention, but apparently it is not so in this case. Why? I think it’s because He wants that the victory to come, and to be seen to have come, from the prayers of the Catholic Church, and her alone, by having the pope do the consecration in union with the bishops, and for it to come through the intercession of the Mother of God, specifically consecrating Russia to her by name, so there’s no confusion. Why? Well, so the world, including atheists, Protestants, and members of other religions, come to believe in the Gospel and the One True Faith for the salvation of their souls, and most importantly that He may be glorified in all things, that the people of the world may know that “He is the Lord, and there is no other” and that grace, power, goodness, and salvation come from Him alone. I’m not sure why you said, “How can you find peace for yourself? Doesn't anyone worry if he might be attacked by evil?”. I am at peace and I don’t worry that I will be attacked by evil. If a nuclear war does break out, maybe I’ll die, maybe I won’t. It’s all in God’s hands. I just pray I’m in a state of grace when that happens, whether it’s tomorrow or thirty years from now. But what are we to make of the words of Our Lady of Akita? Are they now somehow invalid? Since 1973 did the world convert, sin cease among men, and sufficient reparation be done so that the threatened truly terrible chastisements are now averted? Clearly the answer is an emphatic “no” so I don’t know. As one of those who believe Benedict is likely still pope, I initially found it hopeful that he would be participating. Maybe he could have his own private intention that goes something like this: “Mary, I consecrate Russia to your Immaculate Heart”. Simple. But would this be successful? He will be doing it in private. He will not be seen as the one who leads the consecration in union with his brother bishops who he “ordered” or “requested” (I don’t think that matters) to participate with him. The success would instead be seen as the result of the consecration by an antipope. What needs to happen is that PF needs to be exposed as the antipope he always was so that all his words and acts are abrogated and the business of restoring the Church to her former beautiful self can finally begin. All this is, again, assuming that PF is an antipope. Needless to say, that’s a big assumption. Maybe he’s not. But he has in no way acted like any pope in the past - you know, what with all the heresy and destroying the Church (willingly or unwillingly) and all that. No antipope comes close to him. What pope in the past rejected the title “Vicar of Christ”?! How could it even cross the mind of a pope to do such a nonsensical thing? It would appear that Christ’s promise to the Church and to Peter would have failed, because the Rock Himself, the one Christ gave us to be a source of unity and orthodoxy and who He would always protect by special graces, is the source of evil and heresy - not a group of bishops, not even practically all the bishops of the world as happened during the Arian heresy, but Peter himself. Did Jesus not say to Him, and all his successors, “I will pray for you so your faith may not fail”? That Christ’s promises cannot fail is the one thing we know beyond any doubt. It’s like the old saying goes, if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it’s probably a duck, “duck” in this case being an antipope. We’ve had many in the past, why not now? I think everyone here would agree that PF has acted much more like an antipope (in fact, worse than any of them even!) than a pope. Just think of the whole Pachamama fiasco and all that happened. Did his actions appear more like someone protected by Christ to be the Rock of the Church or one who is not? There’s no question that the answer is the latter. Now, multiply that by a thousand times, covering the last nine years of his pontificate. Could anyone here, during the reign of Benedict, possibly have imagined or accepted that the next pope would do such things? No. If the entire litany of the words, writings, and actions of PF were told to any serious, orthodox Catholic before now and it were asked him, do you thing this man is a pope or antipope, what would his answer be? Of course, we all know. I just can’t square the circle of the actions of the-one-who-is-called-Pope Francis and a valid pontificate. There was a case in history when some pope had the intention of approving some Bible translation that contained heresy and immediately before he could do it, he came to his earthly end. But, it is true that PF has never bound something heretical ex cathedra, which would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt his identity, so who knows. It’s not for me to determine, only for the Church at some time in the future, if necessary. I don’t want to put false doubts in anybody’s mind here so please take everything concerning PF with a grain of salt. Maybe there are explanations I don’t know about. Just some random thoughts. I hope they’re not ‘too’ random. Keep praying your rosaries everyone, and do it every day. Don’t be like me and do it ‘most’ days. That’s not what Our Lady asks of us.
Excuse me, dear forum members, could you kindly repost the consecration text? I couldn't find it among all the long writing. God bless!
My diocese was not mentioned in the link, but checked my diocese of Hartford Ct. which has a statement that Archbishop Blair will join in the consecration from the cathedral at noon. Sooo checked my old diocese of Boston website and nada. Where is Cardinal O'malley, whom I thought was such a good buddy of Pope Francis? Where are all of Pope Francis' good buddies and ardent supporters? Shutting up now before I enter into serious sin.
Bold emphasis added: O Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, in this time of trial we turn to you. As our Mother, you love us and know us: no concern of our hearts is hidden from you. Mother of mercy, how often we have experienced your watchful care and your peaceful presence! You never cease to guide us to Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Yet we have strayed from that path of peace. We have forgotten the lesson learned from the tragedies of the last century, the sacrifice of the millions who fell in two world wars. We have disregarded the commitments we made as a community of nations. We have betrayed peoples’ dreams of peace and the hopes of the young. We grew sick with greed, we thought only of our own nations and their interests, we grew indifferent and caught up in our selfish needs and concerns. We chose to ignore God, to be satisfied with our illusions, to grow arrogant and aggressive, to suppress innocent lives and to stockpile weapons. We stopped being our neighbour’s keepers and stewards of our common home. We have ravaged the garden of the earth with war and by our sins we have broken the heart of our heavenly Father, who desires us to be brothers and sisters. We grew indifferent to everyone and everything except ourselves. Now with shame we cry out: Forgive us, Lord! Holy Mother, amid the misery of our sinfulness, amid our struggles and weaknesses, amid the mystery of iniquity that is evil and war, you remind us that God never abandons us, but continues to look upon us with love, ever ready to forgive us and raise us up to new life. He has given you to us and made your Immaculate Heart a refuge for the Church and for all humanity. By God’s gracious will, you are ever with us; even in the most troubled moments of our history, you are there to guide us with tender love. We now turn to you and knock at the door of your heart. We are your beloved children. In every age you make yourself known to us, calling us to conversion. At this dark hour, help us and grant us your comfort. Say to us once more: “Am I not here, I who am your Mother?” You are able to untie the knots of our hearts and of our times. In you we place our trust. We are confident that, especially in moments of trial, you will not be deaf to our supplication and will come to our aid. That is what you did at Cana in Galilee, when you interceded with Jesus and he worked the first of his signs. To preserve the joy of the wedding feast, you said to him: “They have no wine” (Jn 2:3). Now, O Mother, repeat those words and that prayer, for in our own day we have run out of the wine of hope, joy has fled, fraternity has faded. We have forgotten our humanity and squandered the gift of peace. We opened our hearts to violence and destructiveness. How greatly we need your maternal help! Therefore, O Mother, hear our prayer. Star of the Sea, do not let us be shipwrecked in the tempest of war. Ark of the New Covenant, inspire projects and paths of reconciliation. Queen of Heaven, restore God’s peace to the world. Eliminate hatred and the thirst for revenge, and teach us forgiveness. Free us from war, protect our world from the menace of nuclear weapons. Queen of the Rosary, make us realize our need to pray and to love. Queen of the Human Family, show people the path of fraternity. Queen of Peace, obtain peace for our world. O Mother, may your sorrowful plea stir our hardened hearts. May the tears you shed for us make this valley parched by our hatred blossom anew. Amid the thunder of weapons, may your prayer turn our thoughts to peace. May your maternal touch soothe those who suffer and flee from the rain of bombs. May your motherly embrace comfort those forced to leave their homes and their native land. May your Sorrowful Heart move us to compassion and inspire us to open our doors and to care for our brothers and sisters who are injured and cast aside. Holy Mother of God, as you stood beneath the cross, Jesus, seeing the disciple at your side, said: “Behold your son” (Jn 19:26.) In this way he entrusted each of us to you. To the disciple, and to each of us, he said: “Behold, your Mother” (v. 27). Mother Mary, we now desire to welcome you into our lives and our history. At this hour, a weary and distraught humanity stands with you beneath the cross, needing to entrust itself to you and, through you, to consecrate itself to Christ. The people of Ukraine and Russia, who venerate you with great love, now turn to you, even as your heart beats with compassion for them and for all those peoples decimated by war, hunger, injustice and poverty. Therefore, Mother of God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine. Accept this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end and peace spread throughout the world. The “Fiat” that arose from your heart opened the doors of history to the Prince of Peace. We trust that, through your heart, peace will dawn once more. To you we consecrate the future of the whole human family, the needs and expectations of every people, the anxieties and hopes of the world. Through your intercession, may God’s mercy be poured out on the earth and the gentle rhythm of peace return to mark our days. Our Lady of the “Fiat," on whom the Holy Spirit descended, restore among us the harmony that comes from God. May you, our “living fountain of hope,” water the dryness of our hearts. In your womb Jesus took flesh; help us to foster the growth of communion. You once trod the streets of our world; lead us now on the paths of peace. Amen.
Brian, I know you have thread on this consecration, but wonder if you could just do a thread with the consecration, make a stickey? of it and shut it down so we can just have it to read until the 25'th?
Our Archbishop will do the consecration but not in the pro-Cathedral. It will be in a suburban church near the TV studios. Think I'll spend the time in my parish church and say the prayers there. The Archbishop's ceremony will be at 4 p.m. (5 p.m. in Rome) but on Taylor Marshall's video they said that the Pope won't be doing the consecration until 6.30 p.m. Rome time after the penitential service which begins at 5 p.m. So, unless our Archbishop intends having a 90 minute ceremony leading up to the consecration, he will be an hour or so ahead of Pope Francis.
Interesting that other than Washington DC , none of the larger US diocese headed by Cardinals is on the list including my own archdiocese of NY and neighboring diocese of Newark NJ. I looked at their websites this morning and nothing was there. Perhaps it was updated since that time…I will need to look. I don’t expect a direct reply, but I did send an email this morning to the NY diocese asking if Cardinal Dolan will join the consecration. I’m hoping that the slow response is due to fact that the Cardinals mom passed away late last week and he went home to be with his family. Prayers for his mom and his family during this time.
Thanks Brian… is there a way to keep it at top of threads? It seems to be moving down as members post to other threads. I’m wondering if it will fall off the radar as it goes further down the thread list?
If you go to that specific subforum it should stay at the top, as it’s the latest stickied thread in that subforum. There’s no way to keep a thread not open to replies at the top of the “New Posts” list.
Thanks Brian … that works! I am technically challenged so was looking just at the running threads. Appreciate your guidance.
Keep an eye on his twitter feed. That's how I found out about the consecration in our diocese. Cardinal Dolan's twitter feed has a link to an excerpt from a radio programme where he's talking to the Ukrainian Archbishop in Philadelphia. They are long time friends. They said they would discuss later in the programme what it means for the Pope to consecrate Russia but that part of the programme isn't included in the excerpt. You need to subscribe to the channel to hear the rest of the programme. Here's a link to the excerpt: http://cardinaldolan.org/index.php/conversation-with-cardinal-dolan-march-22-2022/
Well, I was a bit flummoxed this afternoon. Yesterday I could find nothing about for four dioceses in my state doing anything with the consecration; this afternoon I was just ready to print off a letter to the archbishop when I thought to check again, and there they were! I'll bet they were waiting to see the actual text of the consecration before committing to doing anything. So at 11AM on Friday, the Archdiocese of Dubuque (IA) and the Dioceses of Davenport, Des Moines, and Sioux City (all in Iowa) will be doing the consecration in union with the Pope. All of them will be livestreaming their services. I did not see that coming!
