I came across an interesting study that was done on the effect of nasal irrigation (using a neti pot or battery operated sinus irrigation device like sinumed makes) in those over 50 who had confirmed covid cases. They found that the people who irrigated their sinuses were significantly less likely to end up in hospital or die than those who did not. They believe that this is due to Covid replicating in the sinus cavity in its initial phase before traveling to the upper respiratory tract and becoming much worse. I've been doing this for several years now and always do it at the first sign of any sinus irregularities and it has helped considerably with sinus infections and also colds now never progress very far and rarely ever to the point of entering my chest. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.16.21262044v2
I read that there was a clause in the documents saying that the funding wasn't to be used for gain of function research. I suppose that's enough to cover Fauci. And the US investigators dragged their heels long enough to let the clock run down on having enough evidence to find out whether the pandemic was the result of what they did to the virus in the lab. So, looks like Fauci is off the hook. All the rest is theatrics to score political points. Arguments over whether what they actually did qualifies as gain of function won't make a whit of difference other than give some politicians an opportunity to keep their names in the headlines for a while.
I tried to get a nasal spray containing iodine because I think it was Dr. DeMello who recommended it. The pharmacy didn't have any containing iodine and said I might get it online. I had no luck searching online because I would need a brand name. Some doctors recommend Vicks inhaler. I think that one recommended rubbing Vicks in the nostrils but I don't know whether he meant Vicks gel.
I couldn't get them original Listerine so am using the mint flavoured one instead. I can't gargle and am hoping that rinsing my mouth and brushing my teeth with it will have some effect against the virus. Somehow, I have a feeling that holy water would be more effective.
No harm in using holy water I use Vicks around my nose often since I have allergies that cause congestion. I like it.
I’ve had sinus issues for years, and I have been rinsing for quite some time. I recently started using Xlear nasal spray, it contains Xylitol and grapefruit seed extract. Apparently it is now in clinical trials to be evaluated for efficacy against SARS-CoV-2.
I make my own, it is far less expensive to buy the ingredients and mix it up yourself and it lasts much longer than the pre mixed stuff. Also, I'd be very careful about vicks near nasal passages. It would likely burn really bad in such sensitive membranes. Putting it outside the nostrils should be adequate for the effect of the menthol in it.
Just thought I would throw this out there… ACT mouthwash is an effective alternative to Listerine, much milder taste. Get the original flavor, it comes with a dispenser.
I use Vicks too. They changed the formula a few years back, I think the original was a bit stronger .
I should be able to buy that. Expensive enough for a nasal spray: https://www.organico.ie/xlear-xylitol-and-saline-nasal-spray.html Isn't xylitol the plant based product that diabetics use instead of sugar? This list of the ten best nasal sprays for covid-19 showed up in my search results for Xlear: https://www.aestheticsadvisor.com/2021/05/nasal-spray-COVID-19.html Xlear is second on the list. Top of the list is a spray made from seaweed. Reminds me of my school cookery lessons what feels like hundreds of years ago. We made carrageen mould. I can't remember what it tasted like but it looked like a white blancmange. I didn't read all the list and don't know whether the sprays are listed in order of effectiveness or order of availability.
I won't go the DIY route because I'd be sure to mess it up. I am going to make the hydroxychloroquin. Came across something on the web where people spoke about taking a couple of tablespoon of it per day. I'll freeze it and have it at the ready.
