Message, 25. July 2021 “Dear children! I am calling you to be prayer for all those who do not pray. Little children, witness with your lives the joy that you are mine and God will heed your prayers and give you peace in this peaceless world where pride and selfishness reign. Little children, you be generous and be the love of my love, so that pagans can feel that you are mine and convert to my Immaculate Heart. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Our Lady appearing in Medjugorje, a journalist, Virgilio Baroni, interviewed Jakov Colo and part of his response is given. It was translated into English from the medjugorjtuttiigiorni.com website You ask me (Jakov) what I think especially at this moment that we are experiencing this pandemic. Our Lady gave me and Vicka the mission to pray for the sick and we know that now we are living in a somewhat difficult period. I'm sorry for all the people who have lost their lives, but when I pray for the sick, usually, physical healing is first thought of but I believe instead that in the first place we must pray for the healing of our heart, because if our heart is healthy, if our heart has accepted Jesus, we can also accept the crosses that the Lord gives us, because I certainly believe that He does not give us crosses that we cannot bear. Living with the Lord we can understand that we are not alone, that the Lord is always close to us and that he helps us to carry our cross. I also believe that in these difficult moments we only have to put everything in the Lord's hands, dedicate ourselves to prayer and ask for His help because He is our Father, so it is not wrong to turn to Him as children in need. We can entrust ourselves to Our Lady, because she is our Mother. She is more maternal than our earthly mother and does not leave us in difficulty, but does everything to help us. We have to put everything in the Lord's hands and I believe that this period will soon pass, I am sure, and everything will return to normal. Perhaps, this time we are living we can dedicate it to make ourselves an examination of conscience, to think about what we have done in our life; how much time have we dedicated to the Lord, what are our shortcomings, what more could we have done that we have not done. Our Lady has been coming here for 40 years, it is a very great thing, a gift from the Merciful Lord, but unfortunately many do not accept this event, because it becomes a daily thing, a habit, Our Lady must come ... that's it! No, it is a very great grace of the Lord, it is an act of His great love if He lets His Mother come. Even in these difficult moments, Our Lady tells us not to be afraid and encourages us. For this I say, let's dedicate ourselves more to prayer, let's think about what we can do more to make the Queen of Peace happy, what we have done wrong and where we can improve. If Our Lady says that with prayer and fasting we can even stop wars then we can also stop what is happening now. We have to believe it. Note from Virgilio Baroni: In the "SPECIAL MEDJUGORJE" of the quarterly "HELP THEM" in addition to the interview with Father Jozo, you will also find my interviews with: Fr. Petar Ljubicic, Fr. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/...gorje-follow-christ-with-courage-and-joy.html from the article: Pope Francis sends a message to young people gathered at Mladifest, the annual international prayer meeting being held from 1-6 August in Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Entrusting them to the example of Mary, the Pope invites them to believe in the fullness and true happiness giving oneself to God brings. By Gabriella Ceraso - Vatican City The guiding theme of the youth festival underway in Medjugorje until August 6 is: "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" They cite the words of the rich young man of whom the Synoptic Gospels speak (cf. Mt 19:16-22; Mk 10:17-22; Lk 18:18-23), when he set out, or rather, ran to meet the Lord, to inquire about gaining eternal life, that is, happiness. Pope Francis sent his good wishes to the participants with a message offering some reflections on the theme. An occasion to encounter Jesus Mladifest, the Pope reminds his readers, is in fact a "week of prayer and encounter with Jesus Christ, especially in his living Word, in the Eucharist, in adoration and in the Sacrament of Reconciliation," which has the power to "set us on our way to the Lord." And so this young man of the Gospel, whose name we do not know but whose soul we do know, becomes the symbol of all those who participate in this event. The Pope recalled that the young man recounted in the Gospels was "educated and very knowledgeable" and motivated with a "healthy restlessness that urged him to seek true happiness, life in its fullness". It is for this reason that he set out on his journey to findin Jesus Christ an "authoritative, credible and reliable" guide who "directed him to God, who is the one and supreme good from whom all other good comes". Eternal life, the good for which he yearns, the Pope writes, is certainly not a material good to be conquered with "one's own strength” but requires going through various stages of maturation. Making steps towards eternal life: loving one's neighbor The first step, indicated by Jesus, is "concrete love for one's neighbor," not the love given simply by the observance of precepts, rather a "gratuitous and total" love. Jesus notices the "desire for fullness that the young man carries in his heart", but also his "weak point", which is his attachment to "many material goods". For this reason, as a second step, Jesus suggests moving “from a logic of 'merit' to one of giving." “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven." (Mt 19:21). Jesus changes the perspective: he invites him not to think of securing the afterlife, but to give everything in his earthly life, thus imitating the Lord. It is a call to further maturity, to pass from precepts observed to receive a reward, to one that is about love by giving freely without limit. Jesus asks him to leave behind all that weighs down the heart and hinders love. What Jesus recommends is not so much that everything be taken away as much as being free to love and rich in relationships with others. To be free from all attachments The Pope went on to explain that if the heart is crowded with possessions, the Lord and one's neighbor become merely "things", because "having and wanting too much" suffocate us and "make us unhappy and incapable of loving". The third step that Jesus proposes to the young man marks a radical choice, the Pope observed when Jesus asks him: "Come! Follow me!" It is a matter of "being disciples of Jesus", which means, not imitating Him outwardly but "conforming to Him" deep in our hearts in order to receive in return "a rich and happy life, in the company of the many brothers and sisters, fathers, mothers and children". Following Christ is not a loss, but an incalculable gain, the Pope writes, while renunciation concerns the obstacle that blocks this pathway. The rich young man, however, has his heart divided between two masters: God and money. The fear of risking and losing his possessions makes him return home sad. Drawing close to Christ to be happy: saying yes without holding back It marked a sad moment, because "he did not find the courage to accept the response, which is the proposal to 'untie himself' from himself and from riches in order to 'bind himself' to Christ, to walk with Him and discover true happiness", the Pope observed. He writes: “Have the courage to live your youth by entrusting yourselves to the Lord and setting out with Him. Let yourselves be conquered by his loving gaze that frees us from the seduction of idols, from the false riches that promise life but bring death. Do not be afraid to welcome the Word of Christ and accept his call. Do not be discouraged like the rich young man in the Gospel; instead, fix your gaze on Mary, the great example of the imitation of Christ, and entrust yourselves to her who, with her affirmative response "Here I am", answered unreservedly to the Lord's call.” Mary as an example for all of us May Mary, to whose maternal intercession the Pope entrusts the young people present at the Festival, be the source of the "strength" from which we draw to say our own "here I am", but also a model for "bringing Christ to the world" and for "transforming our lives into a gift for others". Like her, the Pope asks us to strive to be attentive to others and to discover in God's will "our joy", welcoming it even if it is not easy but with the certainty that "it will make us happy". The Pope writes: "the joy of the Gospel fills the heart and the whole life of those who encounter Jesus. Those who allow themselves to be saved by Him are freed from sin, from sadness, from inner emptiness, from isolation. With Jesus Christ, joy is always born and reborn."
Cardinal Sarah's homily at the opening Mass for the Youth Festival in Medjugorje Dear brothers and sisters, The eighteenth Sunday of the liturgical year introduces us to the theme of the Bread of Life, the Most Holy Eucharist, through a reading from the Book of Exodus which speaks of the miracle of manna and the famous sixth chapter of the Gospel of St. John. After the miraculous multiplication of the five loaves and the two fish, Jesus' long discourse on the "Bread of life" begins, which aims to explain and deepen the meaning of this miracle. Jesus' message centers on the works of God. Those who listen to him, in fact, ask him this question: "What must we do to do the works of God?" (Jn 6:28), Jesus replies: "God's work, so that you may believe in him whom he sent" (John 6:29) We have come here, to Medjugorje, to renew our faith in Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, that is, to establish an authentic and vital relationship with Him, our Lord and our God, so that in prayer we can answer the crucial question: how to find Jesus and how to behave in His penetrating and sovereign Presence? In other words, are we really looking for God? Or more precisely, what is God's place in our life? We felt the need to come on this pilgrimage, which is like spiritual exercises, because we live immersed in a world that tries to live without God, while we want to meet the Lord; we have come to recharge our batteries so that we can live better in His presence and to be able to witness the splendor of God's Truth and Mercy. Many of our contemporaries, I would also say the multitude of people so close to us, in our families, among our friends, where we study and work, seem insensitive, indifferent, even opposed and hostile to the question of the existence of God; they even claim that they no longer think about faith at all and that it is a sign that they are free. Yet every day we see with our own eyes the consequences of this form of practical atheism, which is similar to apostasy, or morally degrading paganism: desire (cf. Eph 4:17), that is, as an old man, deceived by lusts (cf. Eph. 4.22). We know what this nothing causes in our societies saturated with material goods: selfishness, hedonism, lies, violence, confusion at the level of ideas where every, even the most obvious truth is banned, as well as the decadent behaviors that often the legislation of our country justifies, to the extent that more and more of our contemporaries become aware that the denial of God leads to the true denial and degradation of the human person, that is, of his dignity, which leads to his destruction. Saint Paul asks us to remember our baptism and to allow ourselves to be renewed "and to put on a new man, created by God in righteousness and holiness of truth" (Eph 4:24). Today Christ the Lord calls us to look up; it is really important to remind modern consumers to eat to live, not live to eat! Jesus, who knows the human heart, wants to respond to our deepest desires, our most important aspirations, this hunger for Love and this thirst for the Absolute that torments us. He sees how too often we run towards a withered spring, unable to quench this hunger and this thirst, that is, towards the almighty technology that we have elevated to divinity. Jesus sees our anguish in front of the emptiness of our existence left to ourselves, without the Good Shepherd guiding us and introducing us to his holy land, as the Psalm says today. The Lord, therefore, invites us to pass "to the other shore". This is an important symbol: "going to the other shore" means giving up the easy way and going on the path of God. "Crossing the other shore" means more: accepting one's healing from the great wound of our time: indifference religion, moral relativism, individualism, egocentric hedonism. Pope Benedict XVI spoke of this theme of "coming out of oneself". And the only remedy that can cure us of this deadly disease for our soul is the Bread of Life, the Most Holy Eucharist. The Greek Fathers called the Eucharist "pharmacon tes zoes", "the remedy of life", says today's psalm: the bread of the strong for us sick. We dare to truly approach Holy Communion as poor sinners, to strengthen ourselves in the faith. "To love means to give and to give oneself", said St. Teresa of the Child Jesus. A pastoral constitution II. The Vatican Council Gaudium et Spes teaches with authority that "man is not an individual closed in on himself, but a person called to surrender to others in love". The Holy Eucharist is, therefore, truly a remedy that allows us to leave the shore of our comfort and our false security, marked by relativism, and to cross the shore of the Gospel of Truth and the Salvation of our souls. Jesus speaks to us of "true bread", "bread of life", "bread which came down from heaven". The only true bread is therefore He, Jesus. It is the Bread that gives life. In other words, Jesus wants us to pass from material hunger, hunger for our body, to spiritual hunger, hunger for our soul: from the bread that weeps physical hunger to the true Bread of life that weeps every hunger, which means hunger for the soul, because Jesus is the Bread of God who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. And only He can quench our hunger and thirst for eternity. We keep in mind that in the West the Eucharist is represented by a sign or chalice above which the host is. In the East it is depicted differently: in the chalice or on the paten we see Jesus in the form of a child in a manger, next to him two angels dressed as deacons, because Jesus is both high priest and sacrifice. Next to the child is written: "Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior". The dove of the Holy Spirit rests on it. The evocation of the Child of Bethlehem - and Bethlehem means "city of bread" - is also found in the iconography of some Western European Romanesque churches: it is not uncommon for a newborn Jesus wrapped in bandages to be depicted as if he were similar to bread . All this constantly reminds us that, as the Second Vatican Council affirms in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium: "The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life". In Jesus, God descends from heaven to surrender and offer his eternal life to men of good will. Of course, we have to accept it and receive it. This is the whole drama of the life of Jesus, which continues today in the time of the Church, which is his mystical Body. In the prologue to the Gospel of St. John we read: "He came to his own and his own did not accept him" (Jn 1:11): they deny Christ! They celebrate the Eucharist in noise, clamor, vulgarity, in total absence of sanctity and faith, sometimes dressed unduly as if they are expressing contempt for God. What a tragedy all those baptized who do not practice faith, who are guided by the nothingness of their thoughts. (cf. Eph 4:17)! So, dear brothers and sisters, what is this Work of God that we talked about at the beginning of this meditation and on which we are called to work? It is God's work to believe in the One whom God our Father has sent. "To believe" means to accept Jesus Christ as he is, the Son of God! We believe by considering all that Jesus experienced during his life, in his redemptive Death, in his glorious Resurrection from the dead, and in his glorious Ascension into Heaven. We believe in him, the incarnate Word and God who became man, receiving him in the sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist and adoring his divine Presence in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. When you are silent, after receiving Holy Communion, do not think much or offer many prayers to the Lord. Instead, be there, in the presence of Jesus, and tell him: "My Jesus, who am I to be there, in me?", And in your depths, marvel and admire. We know from the Gospels which words Jesus spoke at the moment of the institution of the Eucharist on the evening of Holy Thursday: "This is my body, this is my blood". And we adopt the teaching of the Fathers of the Church, in particular of Saint Cyril of Alexandria, who professes his faith in the real and substantial presence of Jesus in the Eucharist: "The body of the Lord is life-giving" is truly the body of the Word of God the Father. He comes to purify me. He comes to deify me. I am becoming what I have received ". And now we know what was the great test of the night of faith that St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta endured for fifty years. She always believed, but she was completely deprived of all consolation. In front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed at the Altar, it was difficult for her to pray, she experienced dryness like so many saints before her: Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus, just to name a few ... But when Mother Teresa was asked: "Mother Teresa, how can you love these abandoned people, excluding that they insult our sensitivity so much?", Her response was: "Thanks to the daily Eucharist, that is, to Holy Communion and to the Adoration!" Dear brothers and sisters, with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mediatrix of all graces, who gave her Son to the world when she said "Fiat - be it done unto me", on the day of the Annunciation, let us work with courage for God to work, seeking first of all his kingdom, to trust in him and to be sure that everything else, that is, his grace and his eternal happiness, will be given to us in addition. May Our Lady of Medjugorje convert us and help us do God's work and bless us all. Amen. Radio Mir
"May Our Lady of Medjugorje convert us and help us do God’s work and bless us all. Amen." Apparently, Cardinal Sarah, whom I respect profoundly, believes that Our Lady appears in Medjugorje. Interesting!
So beautiful. Certain lines of this made me stop and really think. What a gift this holy cardinal is. And what a joy that he believes Our Lady is appearing at Medjugorje! I have the highest respect for Cardinal Sarah.
Archbishop Hoser had passed away. https://spiritdaily.org/blog/news/48820 Eternal rest grant unto him, O LORD, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen +
MESSAGE FROM QUEEN OF PEACE given to us through Ivan MEDJUGORJE August 14, 2021 "Dear children, also today I would like to invite you to be the reflection of my presence . Bring my messages, spread my messages. Pray especially for all those children of mine who have turned away from my Son, Jesus. Pray especially for all those who live in fear and insecurity. Decide for Jesus because in Jesus there is peace and security. Thank you because even today you have answered my call, ”
Very important to pray for the many many who live in fear and insecurity. I am about to leave facebook finally, one of the reasons is I can not handle seeing people I know all my life being so lost and not listening to any reason or logic. Time to look after my own peace now.
Sadly I think fear and insecurity have crept into all of our lives to some extent, especially once the pandemic arrived. You will not regret leaving Facebook Indy. I left several years ago when I became concerned with privacy issues among friends and relatives who would use the platform to snoop, and gossip. I know Facebook is a convenient, and effective way to share and communicate, but in light of all of the recent censorship issues concerning politics and religion, it may be prudent to bow out now out in order to protect ourselves.
...I left FB last December, and don't miss it, the censorship, the nastiness I'd see OR the time it consumed. But, it's interesting. It was my fourth time on FB, and I had a couple hundred "friends". I always gave out my contact info when I'd leave, but except for maybe 2 people, I hear from no one. The thing I miss is it being a convenient place to showcase any of my artwork. Now, I' have no such venue.
Unfortunately some of my cousins primarily post updates on their wall. I rarely post anything on mine.
