The Pope probably does have the authority to change certain features of the Mass. He may also have the authority to limit or suspend the TLM. It’s not here yet. We have to wait and see and see what the canons are. It’s too soon to tell.
Ok that makes sense, although the spiritual authority of our pope making a decision for the Church to follow is very different from the example of the queen's unjust laws...isn't it?
True. I'm only saying that however an increasing attack on Catholic truth takes place, it will result in faithful Catholics having to make various choices in continuing to live out the Faith. I think increasing pressure to conform to the culture and even outright persecution is in the works in the years ahead. How will we respond individually and collectively, for some of it will even come from within? Lord keep us faithful!
Dear brother, thank you, this spoke right to my heart. First of all, I want to say that I very much respect Padraig but I often act in the heat of the moment and don't get the tone right. This is a huge problem in my marriage, too. So I probably should have written something like: "Dear Padraig, perhaps you could reconsider your decision?" In essence though, about what I have written, I stand by it. I do strongly believe that Brian was invaluable for this forum. And the other points I have made, for example about this being the final battle, the tribulation is beginning. You mentioned that the descend will not stop, and each of us is called to take a stand at some point, where we say: "Enough. No more. These abominations need to stop. I am not going along with this (any more)." This is exactly the point, your pointing out the issue precisely. So I need to pray, fast and discern with the others here (I still struggle with fasting, especially when I am stressed.) I need to be prepared for what the Lord is asking personally of me. Thank you!
Your last line, Lord keep us faithful, says it all. He cares for us, and we are the sheep of His pasture. He will provide.
Just WOW to the above posts. I will need a few days to catch up and digest this thread before I can comment! I still have family members here from Sydney and Newcastle at my home until next Thursday and have little to no time on the internet. However it seems that some posters who were very vocal last week ridiculing others for standing by Catholic truths against the current heretical teachings of the DW, (taken down by Padraig, God Bless him) these same posters would now have us believe that they stand by the unchanging truths of our Catholic faith? I don't understand. Either buttered toast? or change of mind? I must reread this thread. God Bless us all. Amen
Josephite, Just because you say the The Divine Will is heretical, THE HOLY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH disagrees with you! They have found NO DOCTRINAL errors with Lusia writings! Fact! The VATICAN itself put out the book The Sun of MY Will, based on Lusia Picaretta spirituality! Saint Padre Pio is quoted in that book put out by the Vatican, that Lusia is a Saint, a work of God, and the whole world will know Lusia one day! In fact, Padre Pio attributes a miracle to her! Her confesssor Saint Annibale who spend the last 15 years of his life promoting And printing Lusia writings, he gave the nihil obstat to the the first 19 volumes of her writings, And he was proclaimed a Saint! The Church has proclaimed Lusia a SERVANT of GOD! Seems to me, I am absolutely in line with the teachings of the church! And I will stand by The Divine Will as the church has! You are Not the authority of what is heretical here, especially in regards to the Divine Will! I for one stand by the unchanging truths of the Catholic Church! And so does everyone in this forum that embraced The Divine Will. And we should not be accused of following heretical teachings. It is not kind to say this about others good Catholics on this forum because we do not believe in your opinion of The Divine Will. I kindly ask you to please Show me one post where I ridiculed you for not believing in the Divine Will? You do not have to believe in private revelation, it is up to you or me. I choose to believe, because The Divine Will is one of the Greatest gifts That God ever wanted to give the church, and her members! In all kindness, I do not think you should accuse others here of things they never said, like you being ridiculed. Truth matters!
Yet also remember, Christ stated to Peter, the gates of Hell will NOT prevail against the Church. It's bad... but Her Immaculate Heart will Triumph! I have started thinking it would be wise, in addition to having my copy of the Catechism (promulgated by JPII), to have a hard copy of the Baltimore Catechism, 1st Vatican Council, maybe Council of Trent.
I just want to say that I don't think anyone on this forum is "going along" with abominations like pachamama. We're all equally shocked and troubled by these things. The difference in reaction is based upon what we think is the right response for us personally, what we think God wants us to do about it, and who we think is going to rescue the Church. It's not a matter of some of us thinking these things are ok, or that we should just bury our heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening. I think that some of our more action-oriented members here seem to have that impression about the ones who focus more on the power of prayer, and the hope in God's rescue through conversion and various forms of Divine intervention. We are all on the same team, fighting for the same Church.
PurpleFlower, I agree with many daily Masses, fasting, holy hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament, many rosaries, sorrowful mother devotion, holy face devotion, confession, and many more devotions! For Jesus, and his Holy Mother told us these things would save the church! And I too do them, as I am sure many of here do! But I also believe God will raise up Good men and woman to speak the Truth to combat this Evil as well! I believe you can have both! Yes, we are all on the same team, and God made us all different with different callings! Blessings to all now and forever!
Yes, definitely, you can have both! I speak the truth on a daily basis to those around me...it can be done without speaking badly of our Holy Father and bishops. We can fight for the true Faith while still being obedient and holding fast to our beloved Church while waiting upon the Lord!
Well, in all fairness, I do speak and share with others with the Bishops and the Pope say at times. Because, I have come across those who do believe homosexually is ok, because what Father James Martin has said along with many other bad priests, bishops, and what even the not so good things the Pope has said. I believe we must defend our church too! And if that is considered speaking badly, then I am guilty!
I concur with PurpleFlower. It deeply grieves me what is going on. I also believe the remedy is way out of my hands. Our Priests pledge obedience their ordaining Bishop and their successors. I believe it is for Priests & Bishops to know how to handle or proceed when the Pope behaves so controversial. Bottomline, we do NOT abandon the Church Christ started. He gave us His assurance. We have been given warnings from Our Lady & mystics. In our everyday, we have the Mass, other Sacraments, Sacramentals... The world will bump & thrash around us. Yet we have our strength and protection!!
Yes, the Baltimore Catechism is a great teaching tool. Council of Trent Catechism is very thorough, and I must admit Section 4 of the 1983 edition of the Catechism has an marvelous instruction on prayer. Don't miss it. Safe in the Barque of Peter!
Many. , many wise and very holy Bishops and teachers in the Church have advised us poor, very ,very ordinary lay Catholics to read up and understand the teachings of the Church as far we can. I try to do so, but it is difficult, I have always been so happy to do so. To follow whoever is the present Pontiff and whatever. However the present Holy Father, there can be doubts about it whatsoever is a total jackass. Sad to say, it is the truth. Jackass as he may be he follows behind a wonderful tradition of recent very good and saintly Popes. Which adds to confusion,. suddeenly we are stuck again with a total dud. But total yek of a Pope he may be and indeed is he is , we are stuck with him. There you go.
