mmm.. The Pope is the Pope.

    Tu es Petrus.

He is the Pope and we are Catholics. Into his hands are placed the Keys of the Kingdom.

Nobody is asking us to like it. In my personal opinion he is the worst Pope that ever was. But, there you go we're stuck with the guy.

Personally he makes me want to throw up, but there you go...

The Good Lord is not asking me to like it.

But there you go again..if I was only obedient to the things I liked things would be very easy.:):)

    Hes the Pope..and I'm a Catholic...

    Matthew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

I gotta repeat, the Pope is the Pope. We have to obey him. This is a Catholic forum. We as Catholics obey our Holy Father the Pope, be very, very careful of suggesting other wise.

I can't stand the man myself. He's truly, truly awful.
    Dreadful. Yuk.

    But we're stuck with him.

Be very, very careful with this.

    Be very careful

    'Even by a pope'

This is not Catholic thought, or teaching, this is disobedient.

We are sailing in to those dark and churning waters and a fierce wind is tearing at our sails. Jesus is asleep in the boat.
"Lord don't you care that we are perishing?"
I have only one answer to this. Hold on to Our Lady as if you were lashing yourself to the mast of a ship. Hold on hold on hold on.

The Pope has been given the power to bind and loose.

    Exactly.

God is not asking us to like it.

    Only to obey.

He will answer to God. But so will we. Sober and serious times we are in--"only I can help you." ( Our Lady of Fatima to Lucy)

Yes. I was trying to think about where I heard that. You are exactly right. It was to Sr Lucia. Our Lady has such powerful graces to bestow. I think she said to a saint, once, that many graces are not requested and so are not given. It may have been to St Catherine Laboure.

I love that chapter of the Bible and the Rembrandt painting which interprets it. I heard a priest once refer to it in a sermon. He said notice the disciples (like John) who are closest to Jesus- they are at peace - still and waiting on the Lord. But look at the other end of boat- Peter and Andrew farthest away from Jesus are up on the sails, fighting the storm, in full panic and putting themselves in grave danger of falling into deadly waters.

perhaps a good image for us (certainly for me) is not only stay in boat, but move closer and closer to The Lord. Pray and ask Him to “awake” and bring me peace. If I venture out to far, I too, like Peter, may end up hanging from the sail thinking I can fix and save myself when the answer is Jesus .

I just finished my letter. I think our Holy Father needs to hear from us that we love and honor him, that we are faithful Catholics, yes, and that means we will obey our pope even in things that sadden us. I know I'm a nobody, but Pope Francis loves the "nobodies" and perhaps he will stoop to answer my sincere questions or at least pause to hear my pleas if it's not too late. But above all, I want to let him know that there are many like me, that are traditional but honor him as our Father. We are not chomping at the bit to disobey and go our own way, as if we know better than everyone else. I'm afraid that is all Pope Francis is getting fed about TLM-loving Catholics... It's no wonder he doesn't like us if we quieter, respectful ones are never heard from. He may be pope, but he's also a person like any of us, and no one is going to feel favorably toward those they hear nothing but condemnation from.

I am not disputing this at all. What I am saying is that he is only binding orthodoxy and is loosening dissent and at best, protestantism, if not loosening immoral practices such as abortion and sodomy. Am I bound to this obedience? I think and say NO.

No, a pope cannot abrogate the mass of all time. Or do all the other heterodox things he has done. We do NOT owe obedience where his teaching clearly violates Faith and Morals!

His powers are limited. He may only preserve, protect, promote and defend that which has been handed on to him. He does not have the authority to exceed those bounds, and if he tries to, he is not owed obedience in his error.

    Period.

Please stop acting as if the pope is an Oracle whose every absurd utterance must be obeyed.

That is NOT Catholic teaching, never was, and never will be, fortunately.

If that’s a standard you want to impose at MOG, please delete my account now.

I’ll have no part in it.

With you Brian. This man , as a Jesuit, took a special vow of obedience, obviously he violated that vow by following his dissent in following liberation theology, which was condemned by St John Paul2. His personal belief system was condemned by a pope who is a saint. I will not follow him to hell.

From a good friend, who is also a highly regarded professor of systematic theology at one of the top Newman Colleges. In response to the question of whether a pope can abrogate the TLM he simply replied, “No.”

    Then stated: 386ACDBB-4FA8-4369-8402-7951E1A9AB70.jpeg

    That’s good enough for me.

Yes, I’m willing to die on this hill.

I have deleted members Briank and Picadillo.

This site is for Catholics rather than Protestants. There are millions of Protestant, 'No Pope here', internet sites available, go there.

Here, still being Catholic, we still obey our Holy Father the Pope, even if he is the biggest pain in the a** in history.
Holy Obedience is for the bad times as well as the good.

There will be no, 'Let's all pretend we're still Catholic', stuff here.
