    You may be correct, Padraig.

  2. I've seen it spelled like that before also. This is a word that Fr. Mark uses in his video when he says, "God is pouring out preternatural gifts onto so many people! Gifts that Adam and Eve had before the fall."

I think from a European context he is using the word the wrong way.

But it's possible in the US the word is used in different way. I don't know.

Well I checked the Oxford English dictionary:

    preternatural

    Pronunciation: /ˌpriːtəˈnatʃ(ə)r(ə)l/

    (also praeternatural)
    Definition of preternatural
    adjective

    • beyond what is normal or natural:autumn had arrived with preternatural speed
    Derivatives

    preternaturalism
    noun
    preternaturally

So I suppose Fr Mark could use it that way.:)

    Wrong again.;)

  5. As a military wife for 21 years and now a military mom--I was thinking of our soldiers-men and women today. Also, those who will get mixed up with all the horrible mess the govt. has created....our young going to war....my heart might break. God have mercy on us and the whole world! Forgive us our sins!

from Prayers and Devotions from Pope John XXIII
The reader will remember that Pope John was a military chaplain during the First World War.

"No one is an Atheist in the trenches"

The war has barely ended and our eyes are still haunted by its terrible and bloody sights. It seemed
as if it might destroy even the last surviving fragments of the faith and piety of our forefathers. Blessed
be the Lord! this did not come to pass. War has always been, and still is, a very grave evil; and whoever
is familiar with the mind of Christ and his Gospel, and has the spirit of human and Christian brotherhood,
can never sufficiently detest it. Yet, in the midst of the squalor and suffering seen and experienced
by so many of us, we have the right to linger over the more consoling aspects which have lightened our
    pessimism.

Oh! the long nights spent watching by the pallets of our beloved and valiant soldiers, to hear their
confessions and prepare them to receive, at dawn, the Bread of the strong! Oh! the beautiful hymns to
Mary sung before the roughly improvised altars!

How often have we bent down to hear, in the last gasps of our young brothers, the anguished breathing
of our motherland in her suffering and agony! It is impossible to describe what the heart of a priest feels
like in these moments. Frequently...I had to fall on my knees and cry like a child, alone in my room--
no longer able to control the emotion aroused by the sight of the simple and holy death of so many poor
sons of our own people...They died with the Sacrament of Jesus on their heart and the name of Mary on
their lips--without cursing their hard fate, content to offer their youth in sacrifice to God for their brothers.

Rosa posted this link on another thread which seems to be relevant here:

    http://www.spiritdaily.net/johnston2.htm

    Here's an extract:

"Johnston also had warned long before the recent crisis that the storm would break through North Korea. "North Korea is the dragon's tail," he says. China? "You got it," he says. "China is a very bad actor. You'll know for certain that the storm has broken in its fullness when it comes through North Korea. For almost a decade now I have shuddered with an unknown and supernatural dread at the mere mention of North Korea."

  7. I feel N K is being pushed into launching a strike by the USA and other countries.. they have gone so far now that it will be difficult to withdraw and still hold their head high.

Sigh. Even if there is no war, it just leaves you feeling that this world is like a small boat that could turn over at any moment. How totally we depend on God's mercy.

very interesting article Archangel Michael. It is true we are putting a lot of resources in that region...which frees up room for bad actors in the middle east to operate more freely. maybe we will be so focused on North Korea...that is when the prophesized muslim and russian invasions of europe happen. either way as Padraig says...the entire world is one big powder keg waiting for a match.

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. there is no way for NKorea to exit this scenario and save face. saving face in that part of the world, is very important.

  11. To be honest I think this leader is doing a lot of posturing & establishing his power reinforcing his position & authority. Russia & china are the ones to watch Iran has been very quiet

They are not being pushed by the US, they are being pushed by the Evil One. The US presense is just to keep them from doing something stupid and invading South Korea.

Well you are right that Obama wants and needs a war to esculate his decline of America that he so desperately desires. What he is to stupid to realize is that eventualy, like all dictators experience, it will come to his own demise (he only needs to look at Eygpt's past leader to see this). We must pray for him and all leaders that they wake up.

I wish the US would focus on our own country and stop playing police man to the world....we have enough problems here on the home front than to be worrying about another war. Everybody complains that we interfere all over the world. If we stopped, I wonder what would happen? How fast would communism sweep through the world?

Communism is everywhere Donna, even in the heart of obama, in the heart of all the Political parties here. It is rampant, it has spread like a cancer..

Liberal democracy is the new name for it. As is socialist party etc..

This is true, but I can't imagine how much money we are spending going to Guam and bending our military muscle by sending stealth bombers to S Korea. Don't get me wrong, I am a conservative and love our military men and women. But how do you cut tours at the White House and send stealth bombers over to S. Korea in the same week? Seems a bit dense.

In my opinion, the man is a lunatic. That was my very first impression of him. I was concerned that he would quickly want to show everyone that he was just as tough as daddy. He is living proof as to why power should not be handed down just because you share the DNA.

i think this man left untouched would have gone as far as he could. There is an awful arrogance about him. And the way he smiles such an uncaring smile whilst in the midst of what could be a war is actually really concerning. I think they should be sending in 'the men in the white coats' first and military afterwards.. A wee strait jacket would come in handy too!

I am amazed at how a Country can allow itself to be led by a raving lunatic, this shows us what fear does.

This man needed to be stood up to or he may have done a lot worse by now.

I am hoping that for all his madness, he is puffing up his feathers and beating his chest to let everyone know that he is the king of the jungle. He also wants peace talks as this was left as a truce after the last war. He is trying to make his force felt.

This is very adolescent behavior. Someone needs to send him to bed without his supper!
