Hi Everyone, As some of you will be aware I'm going to Medjugorje next week. I've been blown away by the encouragement of have received from the few I have met to tell within my parish. I'm going with a list of intentions, perhaps I should try and make myself a bit useful while I'm there not just for myself. So I'm inviting those of you, who would like to offer their prayer requests when I'm there, to do so. As the same time I would be grateful for your prayers too. I'm hoping for the strength and encouragement to help me guide my children into the faith when so many of our friends, and family, are non believers. A lady in my sons primary school told me how he had told her about our forth-coming trip to Medjugorje. Apparently he was talking all about Mary, and trying to explain how you will only go if you are called - obviously confusing this lady. I suddenly found myself terrified for him, I would hate for him to mention it to his athiest school friends only for them to pour scorn on his burgeoning sense of spirituality. I need everything you can throw at it, please.
Praying for yourself and your son. I wouldn't worry too much about this, I think you'll find your heart and your families heart will catch a fire strong enough to set your whole country on fire. Medugorje is like a Second Pentecost you're in for an awesome experience. Anyway please pray for my eldest brother , Ciaran who had a massive heart attack yesterday afternoon, for full physical and spiritual healing.
Freedom I will pray for you, your son and your trip. I would love to make it to Medjugorje some day. Padraig I will pray for your brother, I love my brother also and am so thankful for his recent faith.
Freedom I've been praying for a good spiritual director,,.I'm begining to think I will never find one and if it is in Gods will,...but please ask for me anyway. Also many unbelievers in my family. You are so fortunate to be going. You will be in my prayers also. Thank you!!

Freedom, I hope you have a beautiful and safe pilgrimage. Please pray for my sisters Carole and Cathy, for the long-term unemployed and underemployed to get good jobs, for the priests, bishops, and archbishops of California to be holy shepherds, and for the souls in purgatory. Thank you so much. Padraig, sorry to hear about your brother and I will pray for his recovery.
Please bring my love to Our Blessed Mother and ask her to pray for the healing of our Church. My heart is hers.
Don't worry about your son's enthusiasm. I remember hearing at my Catholic school about Fatima, when I was about 8 or 9 and telling three of my non-Catholic friends all about it, they were fascinated. It turned out that two of them had lapsed Catholic mothers who were also interested. No harm done, no scorn, no problem. In fact one of the lapsed mothers used to check that I hadn't missed Mass on the previous Sunday whenever I went to their house (though she still didn't go??). People are fascinated with the supernatural including children. Don't worry, let him talk about it.
Praying for you and all for a wonderful spirit filled trip, Freedom. You know, I pray the two consecration prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary every day. The one to Jesus goes, knock on the doors of our hearts, Jesus and then again knock persistently, and my husband who was sleeping suddenly came running downstairs and started yelling, what is going on? Every time I drop off to sleep, someone keeps knocking on my chest! I mean it, I can't get to sleep, someone keeps knocking on my chest! So, please Freedom, when you're there ask Jesus to please knock and please enter into his heart! Thank you Jesus!!! Thank you, Freedom! Praying for your brother, Padraig!
Thank you everyone for your considerate responses to this post, including many personal messages. I am writing them all down. I leave tomorrow. I am incredibly excited, as are my children who I struggled to get into bed this evening, but I'm also so full of hope. I am looking forward to recounting my experience to you all next week.
