You were thinking of Fr Dwight Longenecker.

    From his website:

    "ABOUT FR. LONGENECKER
I was brought up in an Evangelical home in Pennsylvania. After graduating from the fundamentalist Bob Jones University with a degree in Speech and English, I went to study theology at Oxford University. Eventually I was ordained as an Anglican priest and served as a curate, a school chaplain in Cambridge and a country parson on the Isle of Wight.

Realizing that the Anglican Church and I were on divergent paths, in 1995 I and my family were received into the Catholic Church. For ten years we continued to live in England where I worked as a freelance writer and charity worker. Then in 2006 the door opened to return to the USA and be ordained as a Catholic priest.

I now serve as Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Greenville, South Carolina."

Yes, Julia, he's the one I was thinking of. I don't often read their blogs so got them mixed up. Thank you. Maybe Alzheimer's is getting closer but at least there really are two priest bloggers with traditional leanings so I'm not completely crazy.

Edited to add apologies to SgCatholic who provided the info. Looks like alzheimer's is getting closer and closer.

I like Fr Z and have read his blog for years but this is the problem with people dividing themselves and others into "camps" of Catholics. There is no end to this and it will just get more and more extreme as it goes on. Now there are Antifa Catholics? Give me a break. There are Catholics, PERIOD. Full stop. EOM. We are called to unity not division.

I'm not sure I agree. I am not in unity with Biden or Pelosi, despite the fact we were all raised Catholic and still receive communion.

Fr. Z. didn't sow division. Stating the obvious doesn't make him a divider. Antifa and BLM, if not branches of the democratic party, are very closely associated with them. Sadly , we have Bishops who kneel for BLM which vandalises churches and holy statues but do precious little to confront their political masters. The dividers are the Bishops who kow-tow to politicians and neglect their sacred duty to defend the Faith.

Leave the priests alone. We have few enough of them who show any sign of faith. We saw Bishops kneel before BLM. Will they show up in parishes to say Mass on frosty mornings? I think not. Nowadays it can be like winning the lottery to see them officiate at Confirmation.

So what part of unity is calling someone a terrorist a part of? Because like it or not that is what is being implied.
As far as being im unity I am not casting stones. I am just as big if not a bigger sinner than either Pelosi or Biden. In fact they have been given a much graver responsibility than i will ever have. I hope they both accomplish what God has set out for them.

Antifa is a terrorist organisation. If Fr. Z. knows that there are Catholic Antifa supporters who have helped get him removed from the diocese, he has every right to say so.

Did anyone say you or anyone else isn't as big a sinner as Pelosi or Biden? Do you support US funding of abortion in developing countries? And do you have the power to introduce such a policy? If not, the level of your personal sinfulness is irrelevant because you aren't calling yourself a devout Catholic while promoting intrinsic evil. But I think you know that.

We cannot know the state of Joe Biden's soul. We can judge his actions, however, especially those he chooses to publicize for his political benefit. I fear I would be sinning if I were to say I was in union with Biden after he has created scandal by officiating at this 'marriage.'

Joe Biden performs his first marriage - between two men
'Where is his bishop?' asked Judie Brown of the American Life League.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 2, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Vice President Joe Biden has performed his first wedding ceremony – presiding over the “marriage” of two men.

Biden performed the ceremony at 4 p.m. yesterday inside the vice president’s residence, located at the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Biden reportedly obtained a license from the District of Columbia before officiating the service for Brian Mosteller, the director of Oval Office operations, and Joe Mahshie, a trip coordinator for Michelle Obama.

He then tweeted out a picture of the two men holding hands as he looked on approvingly.

    — Vice President Biden (@VP) August 1, 2016
His wife, Dr. Jill Biden, sent her own message equating homosexual and heterosexual relationships.

Biden announced his support for redefining marriage in May 2012, before Barack Obama officially changed his position on the issue, adding that the TV show “Will and Grace” had done “more to educate the American public” about homosexuality than anything else.

“The situation involving Vice President Biden and his marrying of two homosexuals gives further evidence of the decay that is occurring within the Catholic Church in America,” Judie Brown of the American Life League told LifeSiteNews. “Had the bishops, years ago, enforced church law and made it clear to Mr. Biden, among others, that public defiance of church teaching would result in denial of the reception of Holy Eucharist until such time as the Catholic in question repents of his sins of defiance, we would not today be hearing of outrages such as that exhibited by Biden.”

James A. Smith Sr., vice president of communications at the National Religious Broadcasters, likened Biden’s views on marriage to his stance on abortion:

As a good Catholic, I guess Biden is personally pro-traditional marriage. https://t.co/NxoIawRP9F

    — James A. Smith Sr. ن (@JamesASmithSr) August 2, 2016
Brown remains hopeful the Catholic Church will rein in dissident politicians who flagrantly violate the faith.

“Where is his bishop?” Brown asked.

As far as us all being sinners, yes, we are. But those in authority, no matter how far up they are, have a greater responsibility to look out for those under them. They are not to create scandal, which Biden and Harris both have done. As for Pelosi, she's as bad off. She has a position of authority too, but has chosen to abuse that for her own ends. All three of these people have trampled on others getting to the top, and will answer for their misdeeds when the end comes. We need to pray for them and others in this country in order to preserve this country and whatever rights we have left that these people currently in power haven't stripped us of. We are in dark days, and the days will get darker yet. We are all called to be prayer warriors, so let's get praying that we won't be caught up in the web of lies.

You are right, we are called to pray. It's our responsibility as Christians to pray for our leaders, and I fail at that. I need to do more of that type of prayers.

Unity behind what? Our modernist pope? His seamless garment and liberation theological satanic bs? Behind Joe Biden? Come on Don. Give us a break. Pick a side. The wheat or the chaffe.

We are also called to pray for each other. So, let us pray as God leads us to pray for ourselves, the church, all of our leaders (which means secular and religious), and the world at large. We are in battle with the forces of darkness. I'm reading a book called "Prayer Warriors" by Stormie OMartian. In it she says that as Christians, we are in a spiritual battle with the devil. He is out to steal all the souls he can get, but his days are numbered. Jesus won the battle against him on the Cross. But we still must fight with much prayer to keep the devil from stealing souls. So many are losing that battle because they don't see what's right in front of them. So, pray however God leads you to pray. But pray with might.

I have failed as well. I was swept up in the emotion, and heartbreak of the election. We all held out hope until the very end, and we grieved for our country. With everything that has gone down, it has been a real challenge for me to pray for these leaders. I know I have to do better, and be more charitable. We hard a very hard road of prayer and sacrifice ahead of us.

We can do this together. Maybe have a thread for a "prayer group" where we share our prayers for each other, and our nation. I don't want to come off as too pushy on this, but I'd like to be held more accountable for my prayers. The first of the year I told myself that I'd say a rosary a day. Well, so far I've missed two days. But maybe we could help each other out here. I pray for guidance for my prayers and seeing about starting a prayer group with some ladies from Church. I've already contacted one about this. I figured I'd start small. I'll see what happens, and as I told this other woman, we could invite others to join in as we go and get more "steady" on doing it. I'm sure there are others who wouldn't mind doing a prayer group. Anyway, let's encourage each other with prayers and other stuff. I'm sure someone can think of positive stuff to pray for.
